To understand it simply, think of it your body as a security system. It has a special soldiers called T-cells which protect us by attacking harmful cells like viruses and cancer. But sometimes, cancer cells are clever. They hide and escape detection. This is where CAR T therapy comes in. [music] In this treatment, doctors first take the T-cells from the patient's blood. Then in a lab, T-cells are genetically modified by adding a special structure called a chimeric antigen receptor that is CAR. This acts like a smart sensor helping T-cells clearly recognize cancer cells. After modification, these upgraded super soldiers are multiplied and put back into the patient's body. Once inside, they actively search and destroy cancer cells much more effectively. Because of this, CAR T therapy is often called a living drug since the medicine is actually living immune cells. However, there are some challenges, too. It can cause strong immune reactions like fever and inflammation. And sometimes, cancer cells find new ways to escape detection.
