Vasovagal syncope (fainting) occurs when blood settles in the body due to prolonged standing, reducing blood flow to the brain and causing dizziness, weakness, or blackout; prevention includes regular position changes every 30-60 minutes, immediate sitting or lying down when symptoms appear, and engaging the soleus muscle pump through movement to maintain blood circulation to the brain.

Parade fainting among the members Army of Salvation
Added:Yes.
We want to talk about a very important matter in the Holy Order.
And that matter concerns the Army of Salvation.
Um we want to talk about what we call vasovagal syncope.
Vasovagal syncope.
It is also called cardiac syncope.
Syncope is [clears throat] just a medical word for fainting, the normal fainting we know, you know, when somebody temporarily loses consciousness. So, I remember um I've experienced this twice in the Holy Order. One was when I was small in my local church then in Onitsha. Um before the first lesson, the Army of Salvation standing in front of the chancel, you know, fell just like a log of wood and uh hit his head on the on the steps uh one of the steps in the uh in the chancel. Uh you know, people that came to church, you know how our church is, uh we began to Some people began to rush him to the nearest hospital. You know, he stayed there for some days before he came back. And the everybody believed then it was a spiritual attack. Of course, the prayer warriors we are busy, you know, praying and doing all sorts of things. So, actually, that is not the right thing.
Bible said in Hosea 4:6 that my people perish for lack of knowledge. So, the truth remains that um Bible said be submissive to all authorities. And authority is there. We have medical authorities. And that is what I want our people to be aware. The Army Chiefs share this um uh share this video clip to Army Chiefs and all the people you know and the Army of Salvation band. First, >> [snorts] >> if you are standing um either in front of the altar or you are standing um during the sermon, you are carrying the cross in front of the uh the person preaching. I think this is normally like the one I experienced when I became a doctor was that day I was the one preaching and the Army of Salvation that was standing before the pulpit uh the Army of Salvation now uh more or less, you know, fell while the preaching was going on. You see, people rushed to start this application.
No, no, no, not here where I am around.
You understand?
Uh that prayer is not required at that point. Uh there are a few things that you need to know. First, as the name sounds, vasovagal syncope. Syncope means fainting. Vaso means blood vessels. Vagal means that's a one of the cranial nerves. We call vagus nerve. But, let me not go into medical. Let me just make it, you know, as simple so that everybody understands what I'm saying. So, when you stand in a place for a very long time, the blood is going to settle down. The blood is a mixture. It contains so many things. For some of us, you just see blood, you think it's just red blood cell. The blood is divided into two parts. You have the blood cells, you have the plasma, you know. The blood cells, you have the red blood cells, you have the white blood cells, you have the platelets. Then for the plasma, it contains a lot of things. Majority of what it contains there is water, you know. Hormones are there, enzymes are there, digestive food there, disease some diseases also also there. You know, so so many things are in the plasma. So, now, when you are allowed for chemistry students, we say mixture is two or more substances that are not chemically combined together. What it means is that they can separate. Just like if you go to fetch bad water or water that is not clean or water that is, you know, filled with impurities. When you allow the water, keep the water for one place for a very long time, what happens? The water will settle. All the impurities will settle down while the main water, the pure ones, stay on top.
So, that's how water blood is in the body. When you stand in a place for a very long time, now, the blood, being a mixture, will start to settle.
Will start to settle. As it settle, it will pull down. The force of gravity will pull it down.
When it pulls down, the first organ that notices it is the brain. The brain is up there. Just like for those of you that live in, let's assume four-story building. And if all of you are using one tank, let's assume you're using one tank, and water is finishing in the tank, the first people to notice water decrease people upstairs. They will not be getting enough quantity of water. But people downstairs will be enjoying. After the fourth story building, the next people that will feel it third story. That is how it will be coming. So, the people downstairs can only feel it when water has truly finished in the tank. So, what am I trying to say? When you stand in a place centering, no movement, no movement, the implication is that your blood settles. And when the blood settles, the brain will be deficient will have deficiency of blood because there's the minimum quantity of blood that must flow through the minute through the brain in a minute. So, in that situation, you'll find out that it will be reduced. When it is reduced, the first thing you will feel, you feel dizzy. You know, you can have a blackout, you can feel dizzy, you can feel weak. And that's why you see them falling like a log of wood. Buah! You understand? So, what is the purpose of this video? The purpose of this video is when you first, how to prevent it. The annual salvation is not about whether you've eaten or whether you've not eaten. It is about Visio Vega. The Visio there is blood vessels. Vega is the nerve, you know, supplying the blood vessels. So, standing on one place for a very long It's also called parade syncope. That is fainting associated with parade, especially those people standing attention, no movement. So, how to correct it? First, there will be regular changing of the annual salvation. Those people standing sentry in front of the chancel or those ones in front of the pulpit. You understand?
It's not only in our church. You understand? I've equally worked in a redeem, you know, clinic one of the days that Adeboye was ministering. And one of the ushers in front of Adeboye, you know, he had the same thing. Unfortunately, he fell and there was, you know, an iron an iron this thing we used to arrange our altar, you know, an iron decoration. The thing just cut that guy's mouth, teeth, many things left there. So, whenever you are standing attention and you feel weak, light-headedness, dizzy, please don't even bother calling for help. Sit down immediately. When you see that, if possible, lie down. Because for those of you that know physics, we say the force of gravity has no, you know, power on any body lying horizontally moving horizontally. So, that is the point. So, what do you do when you are standing sentry, uh standing attention, no movement, when you feel your head is becoming lighter lighter, that is not having enough weight, or you will feel dizzy, or you feel weak, or you have a blackout as if black thing is covering your eyes, don't bother. Just sit down fast so that because the next thing you are going to fall like a log of wood and nobody knows where you are going to fall to. You can break your head, anything can happen.
So, that is one, two.
The army chiefs can also make an arrangement. Those people that must dance entry, be changing them regularly.
At least every 30 minutes to 1 hour or 45 minutes. You understand? Change them.
You understand? Also, another way if we don't have capable hands to change, what we can do is very simple. Then what we do there is just very simple.
Make sure that the the the while you are standing there, if music is going on, be matching.
Just be matching. Just be matching. You can stand one place and be doing your matching now. I'll be raising your hand.
There is what we call soleus. Soleus.
That soleus is a muscle. So, there is a pump there. We call soleal muscle pump.
The function of the soleal muscle pump is to pump blood upwards so that it can get to the brain. It is found at the back of your, you know, leg, you know, part of back of your leg. So, I think this video, I don't want it to be much.
So, I just want to make it so this one is purely for the annual celebration.
Wait for the next video. We are going to talk about because we are going to Father Father's Sunday. Are they? That's Father's Sunday. We are going to Father's Sunday. So, in that Father's Sunday, we'll produce some videos concerning the Fathers. Thank you. Help us. Share it to your army chiefs, you know, and your branches, districts, provinces. Thank you. I'm remaining your brother, Apostle Dr. Paul John. Thank you.
