In Severance Season 2 Episode 7, the narrative explores the psychological testing of Gemma (Miss Casey) in the Cold Harbor rooms, where Lumon Industries subjects her to various scenarios to analyze and potentially improve the severance procedure. The episode reveals that Gemma is being tested through different experiences in various rooms, with the goal of understanding how to prevent reintegration or further manipulate the minds of outie and innie versions. This testing represents Lumon's ongoing efforts to perfect their consciousness separation technology, raising questions about the ethics of psychological experimentation and the potential consequences of reintegration for characters like Mark.

Severance S2E7 | First time watching
Added:This is Jack and Dan watching Severance season 2 episode 7.
So, I had a little panic there. I couldn't remember what episode we're on.
And I was like, "It was the episode you were so excited to see." I know, lots of S's. Yeah.
>> Severance [music] season 2 episode 7.
>> [laughter] >> Okay, we're getting into the final third now. Uh firmly, I feel.
>> Yeah, yeah.
>> Yeah.
This has been such a good season so far with all of these big developments and and story points. It feels like in almost every single single episode there's been like a big development in some way or a big reveal of something.
Um and I'm just wondering, you mentioned last time if there's going to be like a sort of filler episode. I don't know, maybe not.
I don't know, the way that they've they're playing it is like they're dropping these big plot points, but because there's so many threads going on it feels like there's still breathing room amongst the other ones, you know?
>> Yeah. So, it's it's a It'll either work really well, like that, like you say, or the other outcome is it there's too many threads and it's hard to keep following >> [music] >> everything. But I think it's working really well. I think so. I think so.
It's I'm just trying to remind myself of everything going on cuz it's hard to I don't remember everything as you're watching and reacting.
>> go through. We've got, obviously, Mark's reintegration, kind of a key point here right now.
>> And it and it ended right on a big moment.
>> Ended like as he fell, hit his head.
Yeah. And then Helly / Helena Mhm.
a bit bit of a weird situation going on there, obviously, with Helena infiltrating uh the Severance floor Yeah. with the outie. Mhm.
We've got Milchick sort of conundrum.
His development >> His development >> getting a bit harsh. Um we've got Dylan G Yeah. and his position with uh in binge to the family making out with his wife in They had sexy heated session there.
>> Yeah. The last visitation. Milchick seemed to be cool with it. Um we've got Burt and Irving as well.
>> Yeah, and potentially Burt not being on our side at the end of that last episode. And uh the Was it Drummond? You said his name was.
>> Drummond, the dude with the sick voice.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. He was going through Irving's stuff. It sounded like it was a bit of a setup. Yeah, when you phrase it like that, I actually think that you may have hit the nail on the head with that. Mhm.
Yeah. Um We've got Recken.
Oh, yeah. Sellout. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
With his fiscal opportunities as he so perfectly put.
>> Yeah.
Man, every everyone has got something going on. It's really cool. I'm really curious how the next three episodes are going to go because it left with it left on such a big moment of Mark like passing out on the floor. And the reintegration like really taking the next step. And he's going to have this confusion now cuz he's just slept Innie Mark has just slept with Helly.
Yeah.
>> And and obviously Outie Mark still loves his wife to death.
So he's going to be so confused as he's remembering both of those things.
>> Yeah. It's I'm really interested to see how it's going to happen because obviously we saw it with Petey, but it didn't work out quite well.
But now with Mark, I'm really intrigued to see how that's going to play out like is he just going to have a complete a completely different personality as the blend of the two comes together? Are we going to get Are we going to see that? I was thinking specifically with like the two love interests, he's going to be super conflicted cuz if he's reintegrated, he's going to like them both. Yeah. And obviously Helly is Helena Eagan on the outside.
And you know, if she was fully integrated, she would just be Helena Eagan.
Uh And and that's just even more complicated.
>> [laughter] >> Bizarre, isn't it? So it's going to be interesting to see how he handles that.
And who is Ms. Wong? Where did she come from? Who Who is she really?
>> She's on a fellowship. That's all we know. Yeah, like >> The only fellowship I ever ever heard of in any form of media is of the ring.
Mhm. Okay. And they head off to Mordor.
But I'm not sort of getting that vibe here. Not quite. Not quite.
So yeah, I'll be interesting to see how Mark is going to handle the next couple of episodes with all of his mixed feelings with the reintegration of the the two love interests. Yeah, and you were saying before that down sorry to cut you up like a sushi chef, but you were saying that you think Mark's actually going to die as well. I didn't not necessarily I think, but I think it's possible that he could be on like borrowed time. Yeah, a death sentence now and it's just a matter of time because who knows? It went terribly with Petey.
It did. It would be interesting to have a character that's like like going downhill.
Or you know I think it'd be more interesting that he doesn't and he's just literally now got this like whole He's like the first one to successfully do it. I reckon. It's not looking good for him though right now. I'm wondering if he's going to wake up in hospital or something and then Lumon's obviously going to have a [ __ ] presence there as well. I feel you know.
But yeah, I don't I don't want to yap too much. I feel like we should just get into it.
>> Yeah. Yeah, let's do it. As always guys, check out the Patreon where we have the polls for everything that we watch. We have the early access over there for everything we watch as well a week early. We have the full length reactions also. And the TV shows are released in an entire season dump for you. And that's all on the front row seat here.
So if you want to watch the rest of Severance with us, it's all available over there.
And the link just down there.
Right then. I think it's time that that we cheers. You know what time it is. I got you. Fanta me.
Another Fanta. Not sponsored by the way.
>> [laughter] >> The beverage of the season. We just think they're super yum. Yeah. Super super yum.
Right, what are we what are we cheersing to?
Cheersing to recovering from a speedy head injury.
Yeah, [laughter] I'm cheersing to that.
I want to point out to Helly as as because obviously she's going through like any Helly is going through like a bit of a a [ __ ] time as well.
Uh that was a lot for her last episode.
So maybe uh pour one out to Helly and also to speedy head injury recoveries. Yeah, I just did that. Nice.
All right, where are we?
Teasing us here.
Who's this?
Helly. Slightly auburn shine to it there, is it?
>> Maybe. Yeah, I reckon it's maybe Helly.
Oh no, it's Miss Casey.
>> Oh [ __ ] hell.
Is this at the school? Is this back? Oh yeah, yeah. Look at this. Wow, Mark with the beard. Yeah.
On set.
Thanks.
Mark should always have a beard. He looks great here. Fantastic.
He looks healthier.
Well, yeah. Mark drinks a lot of alcohol these days.
What do you got there?
Uh themes of religious conversion in Tolstoy's The Death of Ivan Ilyich.
>> Oh my god, spoiler alert. Please. What about you?
All quiet on the Western Front. Drug use by enlisted soldiers during World War >> [laughter] >> I. That's a fun title, isn't it? Yeah.
So they they meet while donating blood, is it?
Or do we just have like sun loungers in the library? What is this? I think you're right. I saw the the Yeah.
You too.
Oh, look look at this. This is love at first sight potentially, Dan.
If Mark wasn't being drained of blood, I think we know where the blood would be rushing to. Do you see that >> [laughter] >> Sorry. [ __ ] Sorry. Sorry.
Do you see that logo there? That was like the Lumen logo. It was like a drop of Really?
>> That's the Lumen logo, right?
Oh, do you reckon Lum They've got their [ __ ] hand in every pie, Jack. Did Lumen get the blood, do you think?
>> Okay. Assuming we're at the testing floor maybe now.
A little flash forward. Oh, do you think? Yeah. Gemma?
Where did you go?
Well, they should call her Gemma though.
Maybe not.
I don't know. I mean, Mark S is Mark S in inside.
What a what a what a what a transition that was. Holy [ __ ] >> Yeah, right.
There might be some deficits.
Hopefully nothing long-term. Are you a doctor?
Hopefully, yeah.
Do we need an ambulance?
>> No.
He's going to sleep for a while.
Okay, how long? Hard to say. We'll need some equipment from downstairs. Are you clumsy?
>> [laughter] >> Your brother's reintegrating. I can tell that you're smarter than me, so forgive me if I say this like super plainly, but if you give one solitary thought to messing with my brother again, I will throw you off a [ __ ] bridge.
[ __ ] [ __ ] Oh, but it's already happened now as well.
>> Yeah, like a big step. She is alive.
I I'm I'm really I I cannot wait to find out more about Gemma and why she there.
Is she Is she held captive?
>> What is going on there?
Is she there by choice? Like Questions, Dad. I've got many of them.
To you, everything's so tidy in Lumen. I could never be there.
Look at this room right now. You'd be fired on on day one.
>> You're lucky you can't see behind the camera right now.
>> [laughter] >> If you were caught in a mudslide, would you be more afraid of suffocating or drowning?
Drowning.
What a strange question.
In a mudslide, hm.
So, they like recalibrating her almost.
Possibly. Just doing a check over, right? Yeah.
Maybe this is to check that the the severance is all still working correctly or something. Six.
>> [music] >> Yeah, see, I think is this her room? She lives here? Yeah.
>> Makes sense.
[ __ ] That feels more of like a a human response, though. It does, doesn't it?
Yeah, yeah. She's been so like robotic, like you said.
What the [ __ ] What What is this? This is so weird.
I leave every episode with more questions. I'm wondering cuz she said [ __ ] looking at the uniform, does it mean she's going to do something in particular?
>> Does she know what's coming?
>> Yeah.
Kier And Irving. Isn't a Kier like a kind of tomb?
Ooh.
I'm not sure. I might be wrong there. I think you might be right, you know. I think I've heard that before. Hm.
But not Drainsfield, though. That doesn't sound like a tomb.
I guess though, these are all surnames of other people that live in Lumen.
We're going to see Irving B. What was B What was his surname?
I don't know.
Oh, payment must be made.
So, open the door.
Oh, she's just been like switched. Yeah, but is this the Audi?
>> [clears throat] >> That's the supply man song. It's like an ice cream truck. And it's like a dentist chair. We thought he had like dentist tools there, right?
>> There she is.
Uh Can I please get a break?
Just for a little while. But it's been 6 weeks.
You know, he's exactly what I thought he'd look like. Yeah? Nobody likes the dentist.
Please, have a seat.
Okay, so they've they've they've switched her to Audi because they don't want the Audi. They need to know what's happening in this room. Oh.
>> only thing I can think of. But they called her Gemma, and when she uh Annie was always referred to as Miss Casey. Yeah, but inside she could be known as Well, yeah, they called her Miss Casey, I suppose, unless that was a fake name.
Open wide, please.
They look fine.
Ah.
How long was [sighs] I in there? 2 hours. 2 hours, man. What are you doing?
Jesus.
Oh, I'd be so concerned, and I don't remember anything.
>> And you just don't know what happens in there. You could have a clue, I guess, but Oh, what they put in under my teeth?
I bet they're putting some like some little naughty things in there.
>> Do you reckon? Yeah, like smuggling things. I don't >> [laughter] >> I don't know.
OH, TELL ME WHAT'S BEHIND that door, please.
Okay.
So, Cold Harbor must include Miss Casey, right?
Possibly. [snorts] Right, Operation Cold Harbor. They also said how many rooms today and they said six. She's visiting different rooms.
At 2 hours a pop. He's come back.
I tell you what, this is how I felt after I ate that dodgy burger and I sat for 18 hours. Do you remember?
This is cool. I'm really enjoying seeing a bit of like uh some history, some backstory to Mark.
>> Yeah.
>> A bit of Mark lore.
>> [clears throat] >> That was uh fun last night. It was.
Brought you something.
Oh.
Um What's that, then? Is that an ant farm? What is that? Oh, [ __ ] nails.
Exactly what I know my ants, all right?
Cool creature. They can lift like six times their weight. I said I liked I like plants.
Plants.
All around the room. Or is it more?
But I I love farms.
>> Oh, good.
It's so interesting to see like look how different he is here. Yeah, he's done so well capturing like the grief-stricken Mark, I think. Thanks. I appreciate it.
Yeah, Adam Scott. All of the tension in his face and stuff I noticed straight away in the first season.
>> Yeah.
Yeah.
Who's putting it together, Mr. Handy Man? You? I happen to be quite handy. Is that a baby cot? Yeah, they were trying for a baby. Do you remember?
>> They were.
Well, that's some uh uh pretty intense French rapping.
Rapping.
>> [laughter] >> Actually, it's kind of like kind of a rap, isn't bit of French bit of French flow going on there.
>> Yeah.
Pretty funny they got like that old lens filter on. Yeah.
Like it's shot on film almost.
>> they were recording their own lives a bit, yeah.
>> Yeah.
What happened? It really truly wasn't that bad. Oh, bit of Ricken. Nice.
It was like the death zone of Everest.
Like Chomolungma. Mhm. Any frozen bodies? No, I looked, but I do have photo evidence. Look at that.
Oh my god.
What is wrong with you? Hey, I belayed my first cool war in middle school, so I Ricken is such a goofball.
>> [laughter] >> I think it's hilarious.
Are you not drinking?
You know that you can purify your urine?
I'll [ __ ] right off.
She's She's preggo.
Okay.
Uh these two, look how Remember Devon said before like to mark that you're not the only one grieving her. They seem really close here. Of course, yeah.
But the fact she was pregnant, [ __ ] That's a whole other Yeah. layer to this mess.
How long ago did it happen?
Like uh Here.
Ah, shh.
Okay.
Okay. Miscarriage? I think so. I think so.
Oh, no.
Hey Han, do you know where I put the keys? Oh, man.
You okay?
Baby.
>> [music] >> Did Mark even know, do you think?
Yeah, he must have.
Miss Cobel's orders.
I'm to watch her for signs of sadness and verbally encourage her to forego Oh, we're having some reintegration dreams.
Oh, totally. This whole thing has been a reintegration.
>> Yeah. Oh, of course. Yeah, with the backstories.
Where are we right now?
Who is that?
>> Who is this man?
Oh, we just don't even know. This this is like on um 1984. I keep saying it.
>> They're just being watched through the screen.
>> Through through the screens, the telly screens, right? Yeah, wow.
Is this the Cold Harbor room? Maybe?
We're watching the MDRs.
>> The barriers holding. Yes.
The technology is working.
She's easy to like. She's fond of me, too, of course.
Didn't she try and break your fingers?
We're talking about Miss Casey.
>> [laughter] >> She is fond of me, too. And then what?
She was in the room just now saying like >> [laughter] >> do we have to do this?
>> Yeah.
Interesting.
Hi.
I'll be right with you. Thanks.
Fertility clinic thoughts?
Perhaps thoughts.
God. Just a lovely reminder right now.
>> isn't it?
I'm sorry.
Oh, it might Can you I can't even begin to imagine how hard that must be.
I love you.
I love you, too. I'm sorry.
Did you see the Lumen logo there again?
The little water Oh, no, I saw it. Damn, I was looking at what she was writing and I was like, are we going to see her surname here? In the top left corner, there was the the Lumen droplet.
Oh, [sighs] they're everywhere, man.
Oh.
>> [music] >> Oh, is this Mark making his tree Mhm.
Betwixt these shots.
You ready? Huh? It's time.
>> [laughter] >> So trippy, these sequences.
Really well done. It feels like I'm watching a dream. Yeah. There's a kid just out there just waiting for us.
Just kind of reach out and grab [music] her. Right?
Adoption, maybe? Turn around and bend over.
Possibly he was hinting at that. That's how it sounded, but Yeah, if it doesn't work.
>> [clears throat] >> Oh, we're doing like an X-ray? What is that? I was going to say, is that an X-ray machine?
>> [clears throat] >> He does everything then, this guy.
My mouth hurts. Which room caused your mouth to hurt?
The first one.
Wellington. See, the dentist as well. Is it the same dude?
>> That's what I'm saying. Seems to do everything. How many rooms did you visit today?
Six.
The Billings room, the Lucknar room, Zurich, and the Wellington room.
All right. All cities, by the way, done.
In case you didn't pick up on that.
Yeah.
You remember nothing. Nothing.
Did you exit any of the rooms feeling despair forever? Giddy. Whoa.
Mhm.
>> There's only one room I haven't been to yet, and today it had a name on it.
Cold Harbor. Cold Harbor.
Cold Harbor.
Yes. Can I go in there? Thoughts? So, what happens once I've been in all the rooms? You unlock an achievement, a platinum trophy.
>> Yeah.
Point one seven requires.
>> again.
And the world will see you.
That sounds great.
See, Mark.
Mark will benefit from the world you're siring.
The world you're siring?
I think she's like a maybe an early severance test subject, you know, the way this is going. Do you think?
>> I feel like that's what they're doing to her here. They're They're They're analyzing how it's working.
I feel like the severance procedure's been along for longer than she's been dead.
That was my question That was my question earlier of how long is it since she died and how long has it been going on? But they seem like they're analyzing her quite intensely.
>> They seem to be doing like many things, yeah.
>> And the severance procedure in particular.
They're seeing what's possible, maybe.
Um but she knows Mark.
I suppose cuz she was down in the the any room, but >> Sounds like that's outie Gemma. Like Oh, yeah. That makes more sense.
>> Yeah.
>> [laughter] >> But no, she visited the rooms and she didn't remember what happened in them in the Wellington room.
So, innie Gemma was in the Wellington rooms, but then that was outie Gemma.
Is he okay? It's all to get trauma.
>> Maybe. It's an isolated event. Cuz she had like the as she breached into the room, it was like she had the Right. The Annie-ality swap.
You really think this is going to work?
There's no other choice.
There isn't any cabin.
There I mean, it's technically it's a cottage where several people become their Annie's. The Mona birthing retreat. Oh, you're familiar?
This is how you get Gemma out. Bailey, this because this looks like how you kill my brother.
You two are definitely related.
>> [laughter] >> All right, guys. Come on, get along. We need this to work. Is he like comatose or is he just having like a super deep sleep? I could call her. Who? Harmony Cobel.
Like, why would you do that? She might know how to get in the cabin. I mean, [ __ ] she might know how to get to Gemma. She's Lumon through and through.
Yeah. She will turn you over to them.
Both of us.
Everything I've done to fight, gone.
We resume the treatment as soon as he wakes up. I'm calling her.
This is interesting as as as as [ __ ] What are you up to, Harmony?
It's been a while. Harmony might jump at this. She's like, "Nice. Now they'll give me a good promotion."
Good luck. You can't leave him like this.
This isn't my choice.
It's yours. No, I need you to say. I can't I don't know what to do with this.
What? Not call that woman.
Oh my god.
Regabi's bounced. She said like, "I Maybe I'll call Harmony." She's like, "No, if you do that I'm Actually, no what? I'm off. I'm already gone. The The me at severance pissed me off. See you."
>> [laughter] >> Meanwhile, Harmony's on the phone like, "Hello?"
Mark. Shh.
What are you trying to say? Shh.
Chikai Bardo.
Chikai Bardo? It's like TWO GUYS FIGHTING. OH, OKAY. We remember that.
That's what Dylan had. That card. It's one of those things where you have to draw a duck or a rabbit or whatever. Why are you wasting your time with this?
Why are you being an [ __ ] Seems kind of weird.
Enjoying this.
Yeah, come on, Mark. Mhm. Don't do that.
Do what? Tell me how I'm feeling.
>> I've no idea how you're feeling. Like [ __ ] Beat to [ __ ] So, let's stop.
Oh, I don't think that was the right thing to say, Mark.
Yeah, Mark. Mark has a bit of that side to him at times.
You know, >> [clears throat] >> the episode episodes ago with with Heather when he used to be a bit of an ass as well when he was having trouble.
>> [music] >> Oh, the drop. I see it on that logo there. I'm assuming that's what you meant.
>> Yeah, that the logo. It's everywhere.
Yeah, I think I was confused that I had it the innie and outie flip reversed in my head. Yeah. For some reason.
What is this like new persona every day?
Or not maybe new persona, but like a like a brand new fit. Yeah.
It's okay.
This is perfectly normal.
Let's get you set up with that meal. Bon appetit.
What the [ __ ] >> [laughter] >> ANOTHER BANANA.
WOAH. JESUS.
OH, NOW she's doing the position. Okay.
Okay.
He's stuck at 96%.
When he's done, you're going to have to say goodbye to her.
Look here. What was that dinner? Is it very lewd and fruity?
>> [laughter] >> Yeah. Looked appetizing.
Why are you wearing that stupid sweater?
>> [laughter] >> Bit unnecessary. I'll take that to HR.
Is that the same dude who was just the airline attendant? Yeah, and the dentist before, yeah. He's very versatile, give him that. Dedicated to the job. A jack of all trades.
>> Yeah.
This is like 1940s sort of hairstyle here. Made it a >> detail, isn't it? Oh, that sucks.
>> you enough.
Maybe. Love the socks.
We have never owned an electric de-grouper.
>> Christmas? Yeah, it's Christmas. Must be, right?
>> Yeah, that with the music and everything.
>> And the jumper.
Come on now, sweetheart. It's the last one.
How many times has she done this? There was a stack of >> There was a big stack, wasn't there?
It's actually a a de-grouper.
But close enough.
>> [laughter] >> What is this, man?
Christmas has a funny way of coming back around each year.
What are we Is it like we're revisiting memories? I think not even. They're giving like >> Always Christmas. They're giving the Inny lots of experiences, maybe.
Yeah. Let's go. A variety of experiences to maybe like expand the the psyche, the Inny psyche. I don't know.
>> [laughter] >> But they were talking about ego death earlier. Maybe that was part of the strategy of severance or something.
>> Maybe, right?
I said, "I love you." Oh, and I Thank [clears throat] you.
>> [laughter] >> I know.
Pull Pull your pants up.
>> too. Oh.
Has he got Do you reckon he's got quite attached to her?
I think he was saying that earlier, right?
>> Yeah, but he's have to say goodbye to her soon.
That's what they were saying.
>> Yeah.
Go on and give us a peek into Cold Harbor, don't you, on the way, nurse.
Yeah, go on.
Is he putting it together or taking it apart?
I think he's taking it apart.
>> Yeah.
That's tough.
>> [sighs] >> It might be a bit of a a long shot here, but do you reckon that Gemma actually chose to do this or something?
That's what I was saying, like has she chosen is she held captive or is she there because that was her choice? Yeah, that's especially with the way that this going the story's going between them right now.
Is it something she chose?
Oh, this guy is so weird.
Hello, Gemma.
Dr. Mauer.
I want to go home.
Your husband remarried last year.
Lie.
>> Oh, what a lot of [ __ ] And he has a daughter now.
>> [gasps] >> Oh, you bastard. Yeah, that's just that's just cruel. I don't believe you.
He's moved on.
Maybe you've moved on, too. So, please don't be suggesting something.
Do you feel yourself gravitating towards one room or another?
Yeah, Coldharbour. Now, let me in. Yeah.
>> [laughter] >> He's getting real creepy with it now.
He's always been creepy.
>> Yeah, but extra creepy.
>> Ivan Ilyich.
Let me guess.
He dies at the end.
Oh, yeah.
Rock the boat. All right, let's take that key card, get into Coldharbour, have a little look around.
>> on, give us a peek. Fiddle around in there, no doubt.
God, I'd be like, "Did I hit him hard enough? Is he going to wake up?
>> How long? Should I hit him again?
And you want to maim?
>> [laughter] >> Oh, I don't like how the lights aren't coming on for us down. I thought they were motion.
Okay, they are now. Okay.
Now, my question is, is her innie-outie swap going to happen automatically if she crosses the threshold of any door? I always thought they manually did it in the control room. That's what I'm thinking. So, she if she goes in now, after hours, >> Yeah. it's not going to happen, and she's going to retain everything this time when she goes into the room, instead of If she does.
Coldharbour? I'm just got to be it's got to be. That was the room that Oh.
Oh, is it nurse looking for her there, do you think?
She's just checking if any students are out of bed.
>> [laughter] >> Students out of bed!
Get up!
Oh, [ __ ] >> Sorry, mate. Catch me if you can. I'm the gingerbread man.
Get up! Oh, yeah. Nicely done.
Elevator.
Yes.
Oh, [ __ ] Don't go in there. Don't go in there.
They've got the switch. They've got the switch.
Maybe this is like an automated thing as the elevator passes a point.
>> Maybe.
Sure you don't want to come? No, you should probably go. All right, well, I'll be back at like 10.
I love you.
Uh-oh. He said >> Oh, no, I love you, too, and I'm sorry.
Ooh, the old mirror there with uh See the creepy doctor man? Yeah, yeah.
Oh, Mark is really I didn't expect this necessarily cuz he was so in love with her. Yeah. Uh I didn't expect him to have this like off spot.
I don't I don't necessarily think he's off with her. I think he still loves her. He's obviously grieving as well, the >> [sighs] >> you know, Yeah. the miscarriage.
I think.
Miss Casey.
Oh, Milchek.
I'm so sorry.
What's happening?
Nothing.
Your Audi came in for a public art exhibition and found herself in the wrong elevator.
>> [laughter] >> Why you out of breath, Milchek?
>> [clears throat] >> How long have I been >> If you wouldn't mind turning around and heading back in, it would be greatly appreciated.
But On you go.
That she was close, and I'm worried now that she's going to get quite severely punished for that.
Looks kind of sinister in the hallway there. The framing of that. Yeah. Where is Thank you, Miss Casey.
Oh, she did well. You know what that means, that next time we're getting even further. Yeah. Yeah.
>> We need to get past that elevator.
That little trick with the switch there. Going to get past that somehow.
God, this building is massive, isn't it?
>> [music] >> It's an ant farm. MAYBE THAT THAT METAPHORICAL. OH.
I LIKE THAT, THEN. Underground tunnels.
I like that.
>> [music] >> Oh, do you think this is the night that she had the crash?
>> Uh yes.
The crash.
Then he saw the body.
Yeah, that He confirmed it afterwards, though. Yeah.
>> [panting] >> Sorry. Sorry. [ __ ] Oh, she looks mean there, didn't she?
Yeah. Yeah.
A bit heavy-handed at the next uh checkup.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah.
Oh, you're so right.
>> I think tonight's the night. Oh, and the way he She was like, "I love you." And he's like, "Yeah, yeah."
>> I love you, too. The last time.
That was the last time.
>> [snorts] >> Man, this is so sad.
>> [snorts] >> Man, I so want to see what like how it happens from the point of crash now until to getting [clears throat] her in there.
Yeah.
Or is Is this reintegration, Mark waking up? Are we back? Are we fully online, do you think?
A perfect a perfect thing. Reintegration. Yes.
Mark.
Hey.
Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey.
Hi.
So, this is my final form?
Yeah? The best of both.
>> Fully evolved?
Hey.
>> Careful. Easy.
What's the first thing he's going to say?
>> [snorts] >> Where'd you go?
No. Ah, that's all we get.
>> [music] >> No.
[ __ ] Yeah, [ __ ] I was waiting for like the first words at least.
>> Yeah. Man.
God, I got a little teary there, you know. Oh, yeah? Yeah, just like when when the police were rocking up to his door and I was thinking like [ __ ] the last thing he said like that last interaction was so like and I was just imagining how he must have felt and [ __ ] and I was I was like [ __ ] hell, it's gone. The regret.
Yeah. Yeah. Damn. Damn. Another bit of a curveball episode here where we got to see a lot of Gemma in this case.
>> But awesome awesome episode. It was really cool to see so much of Gemma in this one.
>> Yeah, it really was. And we finally got a little bit of info on what's going on down there.
>> Cuz she was so shrouded in mystery like the entire time. Mhm. Like we always knew. We didn't always [music] knew. We knew towards the end of season 1.
But then they never really touched on it. So it was really cool to like actually see what was actively happening to her down there. Yeah. And and a bit of the backstory between the two of them and stuff and There's still a fair bit that's unclear to me. Like obviously they're doing the innie outie switch.
And they seem to be doing some kind of testing on her to perfect or improve the severance procedure. Yeah. Cuz they're analyzing her and they're getting her to do her all sorts of of a variety of strange things in these different rooms. [music] And then they were talking about ego death at one point in the episode with with those cards that we saw last season. Yeah. And like is there some theory there behind how [music] they're trying to fully split these optimizers and stuff?
>> Yeah.
>> I wonder if like because they know that um reintegration is possible and stuff or at least Regavi's out there and she's working on it and things. I wonder if the tests they're doing are potentially to prevent any form of reintegration ever happening. Like if they're trying to like they're putting out like a new patch update to prevent any hacking sort of thing. Maybe, but poten- probably not. Yeah.
I was even wondering if like I mean getting a bit more speculative.
I was even wondering if they're trying to like remove her old life from even from Audi Gemma.
Like if that maybe that's another step where they're trying to completely wipe like yeah or or like manipulate or brainwash Yeah.
>> way to change the person on the outside as well as the inside. I just keep coming back to that ego death thing in my mind. Yeah. I'm just thinking what are they The work is mysterious important and an important Jack. Yeah, but It's definitely mysterious. It's hard to figure out. And they were watching like it seemed when they were watching them through the screens as well.
>> Yeah. There was like obviously like a room of four MDRs four people. Were they watching each of the MDR people or was it like one was watching Mark, one was watching Gemma?
To ensure this project Cold Harbor goes through.
Yeah, I think so. I think Cold Harbor seems to be to do with the two of them at least, Mark and Gemma. Yeah. But yeah.
I I I I I don't know. I can't even think of any where any which way it's going.
Yeah, it's still very mysterious as to what they're doing, but it was really cool to see some of her experience down there to see what's kind of happening on the testing floor. Yeah. Yeah, Cold Harbor is still a mystery, but just weird what they're getting her to do in there and stuff as well, you know, like pretending to be the husband, taking her to the dentist, all that kind of thing.
>> Yeah. I don't know. What are they working on? Are they working on multiple severances like layers of severance?
Because he called her Gemma in one of the rooms. She's known as Miss Casey upstairs.
And then she's also outie Gemma.
Are we talking like mul- like multiple different splits at this point? Were there different people in each of the rooms? You think like a three Well, potentially because like we saw in MDI it became like a three.
I wonder if Not even that. Not even that, but I mean within her mind. Like >> Yeah. I was just thinking of like subtle like imagery that we've seen that might suggest that as well.
>> Right.
Yeah.
But no, I'm thinking like You know when she went into the dentist's room and she said, "I'm always here."
Is that like one small fragment of her mind that's always in the dentist's room? Like one tiny layer of severance.
And then when she goes into another room, she's a different severed person.
I don't know. Fragmented. Are they Are they like trying to push the boundaries on splitting somebody more than once?
I feel like if that were to happen, it would need another chip.
But then I don't know anything about the technology behind it. So Maybe she's [ __ ] got them. I don't No, no, no. We We saw an x-ray where there was only one chip inside of it. Fair enough. But I mean potentially that's a nice That's a nice theory as well. But I I think it is just When they call her Gemma, that's outie. And then she's going into these rooms as Miss Casey. But didn't they call her Gemma inside one of the rooms?
I'm struggling to remember now. I thought >> No, the nurse inside. Did he call her? I can't remember now. Yeah, we can't I mean we can't remember for sure. But that's a bit more of an out there theory that she's actually split multiple times.
I suppose if not that, then yeah, she is being turned into Miss Casey in all these different rooms. Just some of the hints there make me think that it might be more than that.
You know? Yeah.
>> Just that like in the dentist's room, why am I always here? Well, she's not always there if it's always Miss Casey cuz she'd be in different rooms.
>> [snorts] >> It's true. You know? That was tough. I don't know that. I don't know. I'm I'm kind of tempted to lean that way, but it's a bit more of a Yeah.
a bit more of a speculative thing, but really interesting to see what's going on down there. Bit of a curveball episode. It reminded me at some points a little bit of the dementia episode in Blind Manor. The way that it was put together with all of the memories like bleeding into each other.
Oh, with um >> and it being a new scene. Yeah, I can't remember what her name was now.
>> With Hannah. Hannah, yeah. Yeah. And that whole episode being like her transitioning from one reality or moment to the next.
>> Yeah. And it Yeah, they just bled through, didn't they? Like she might walk through a door, but then it'll be a completely different day.
Different day, different space.
No spoilers. If you want to watch it, that's not spoilery.
>> Which was really cool. And it it did remind me of this a little bit, the way that it transitioned through all of those memories and felt dreamlike. Yeah.
Yeah. I Yeah, I completely see that as well. So almost with um Hill House as well, you know, with uh with Mom. Mhm. She would [music] have these spells where she where she would Yeah, when she was said she was uh scattered or something. That's the phrase, maybe. Yeah. So really cool to see it see that kind of vibe again. Done really well. Um But now he's got Mark back online. We We think. We think. We didn't see any of that at the end, but it's I I think it's definitely going to be like that. You know when your mind's running at 100 miles an hour and you're thinking about what he's going to say?
And I was like, "Is he going to say, 'Who are you?' to his sister?" Oh.
Is he You know, is he going to say, "Where's Helly?" He's going to say, "Let's get Gemma." Yeah. Where's Helly?
This is the thing, like we had that whole like where he was dreaming and it was obviously like reliving these memories and stuff, but we haven't had any of his Helly memories Mhm. for his outie.
Mhm. But I felt like there was that dream sequence that he that we would see potentially were his outie's [music] memories of Gemma.
I think that was the way they told it, right?
>> but then he is That would suggest to me, and I don't know if it is like this, but that would suggest to me that then his outie hasn't had the the innie's memories of Helly yet. Okay.
But he did have a couple of flashes, didn't he in the previous >> He did have the flashes. Yeah, yeah.
It's going to be hard to tell until we get to see him properly wake up. Man, confusing as [ __ ] >> [laughter] >> Yeah, it really is. We're trying our best here, guys. It's probably It's once you've watched the whole season, it's probably funny to watch people trying to figure out as it happens.
>> it out, yeah. So, yeah, it's such a head [ __ ] but in a in the best way.
>> In a good way. It's a good head [ __ ] Uh I'm really excited to see where it goes.
I really want to see what Knox is up to now. And then we're in the really the final three episodes. Yeah.
8 9 10 though. And I assume we're really building up to like another climax.
I'm ready to climax with you, Don. It's my I I love climaxing with you when we're doing these together. I'm excited for the climax of this this time. Yeah.
Yeah, last time it was a great session to climax with and I know that we're going to climax pretty well together here now as well. Yeah. Um it's going to be tough to beat that last one though, but you know, I reckon we've got it in us.
>> Yeah? Well, we shall see. Three episodes to go. Let's go. Um if you made it this far, guys, thanks so much. If you want to drop a like on the video, subscribe to the channel and catch the rest of the season with us, that'd be great. Thanks for being here and uh if you want, we'll see you next time. Yeah.
See you.
From the windows to the walls until sweat drips down my balls. Yes. Yes, tell me more.
Oh, skeet skeet, [ __ ] Is that skeet skeet?
>> Skeet skeet.
>> Yes. Uh [ __ ] >> Ow, skeet skeet. Ow, skeet skeet, [ __ ] >> That's right. Ow, skeet skeet.
A god damn. A god damn. Yes.
>> Yes, okay. Thanks. Thanks.
