Selling Floorplan But BETTER! Back Country 20MKS W/Built In Generator, 100 Gal. Water & 1K Solar!
Added:[music] >> Hey guys, it's Corinne with Thompson RV in Pendleton, Oregon.
When the Creekside 190MKS first came out in 2023, it absolutely blew to the top of the charts as far as RV sales, right?
It has been the number one selling floor plan for Outdoors RV as well as us for the last 3 years. People like the RV Geeks have promoted it because everybody has absolutely just loved this trailer, right?
Now, with that being said, the Creekside models are half-ton towable models.
We've had a lot of people over the last 3 years that have wanted, maybe even a little bit bigger trailer. They've got a 3/4 ton or a 1-ton truck, but they're going down to the Creekside with a little bit smaller frame, little bit smaller fridge, etc., etc. because they love that 190MKS floor plan and they just want to stay in an overall small package.
Cue the Back Country 200MKS.
So, Back Country is the Outdoors RV series that has the built-in generator.
On top of that, you get 100 gallons of water. You also get 16-in wheels. You get 8-in custom-built chassis, the full wrap-around cap, bigger water heater, bigger refrigerator. All of the things you'd expect in a Timber Ridge or Bighorn. So, when you have a bigger pickup like a 3/4 ton or a 1-ton, this is the perfect model. It's exactly like the 190MKS but on steroids. So, me personally, I have a 1-ton diesel pickup that I can haul anything on the lot, right? And as many of you already know, I have had almost every floor plan, whether it's a fifth wheel, a toy hauler, little, big. I've used a lot of different Outdoors RVs.
But I love staying in a shorter overall package. So, if I had to choose a trailer, it's going to be something probably under 24 ft or I'll go with a fifth wheel. Now, if my kids have their choice, they are 27 TRX all day long.
That's their favorite favorite model.
But, I really really love the 19 MKS.
But, with a big pickup, why would I go with something that has the 6-in chassis, the smaller front cap, a smaller refrigerator? That's something that's really important to me because we don't pack a lot of dry food. We pack a lot of food in the refrigerator.
So, the 20 MKS, in my opinion, is the most perfect trailer if you have a bigger pickup. We do not recommend the Back Country Series with half-ton models. Sure, sometimes on paper, when you do the math, it'll work. But, in real life, it just doesn't work. If you have a half-ton pickup, you're definitely going to want to stick with the Creekside series of Outdoors RV travel trailers. They even make a 17 MKS. So, a similar model to this, but in a 7 and 1/2 ft wide for people with even lighter duty half-tons now.
But, with all of that being said, this is a brand new 2027 Back Country 20 MKS.
So, it's going to have the new interior.
So, you can see they've gone to more of a knife edge on the countertop. Gives it a more modern feel. Same color of countertop, just a little bit different edge. They've gone to a lighter stain on the hardwood cabinetry. This one is also in a Titanium Series. So, it's going to have all of the Titanium Series bells and whistles like auto leveling, 15K air conditioner.
But, this 20 MKS, again, it's the same floor plan as that Creekside 19 MKS. So, if that's been one that you've had your eye on, but maybe you do want it in a Timber Ridge Back Country model, right?
Something with the the bigger frame. In the Timber Ridge, they make the 22 MKS.
Slightly different layout, but also a very very cool floor plan.
Similar counter space, same wall bed, theater seating. So, either one of those models are a great upgrade above the Creekside.
So, just like in the Creekside, this Back Country 20MKS is going to have over 10 ft of counter space.
A year to ago, they switched to a peninsula style countertop, so you get even more counter space than you did originally.
There's a ton of storage here in the kitchen.
You also have really great TV viewing.
So, the TV is right here, which is directly across from your theater seating, which is going to be in the slide out.
In the Back Country, another thing to note is there's only one color. So, this is always this color.
The dinette is always two-tone black and this color. So, there's not even any options for color. It's super simple.
This is just it is what it is, right?
Over here in the kitchen, right here you're going to have a bank of four drawers, all of which are on heavy-duty ball bearing drawer guides. The bottom two are going to be a little bit deeper than the top two.
Right here, you have a cabinet. This would be super cool with either a divider to hold cookie sheets and things of that nature, or I had a gentleman just the other day send me a pullout pantry that he found on Amazon that fit right here in this space. So, you could turn that into a pullout pantry.
Again, the TV is right here. That is going to be a 12-V TV and it's a smart TV. So, you can hotspot off of your phone. Uh maybe if you're staying in a park and it has Wi-Fi, you can use that, or you can use a Starlink. And that way you can watch anything you want on the TV. However, if you're old school, you can also pack DVDs. This is a DVD player. Also has Bluetooth for your phone. So, if you want to just listen to music, you're going to have speakers inside as well as outside. HDMI cables as well.
And then a little additional storage down here.
Stainless steel appliances are going to come standard in the titanium series.
Knife rack behind the stove.
Backsplash.
And then it has a glass top in case this counter space wasn't enough. You have extra counter space when you're not using the stove. And then to cook, you're just going to want to flip this up and over.
Cast iron grates. So, nice heavy duty cast iron grates. If you use cast iron pans, it's good to have something sturdy that won't chip. And then you also have three burners. This one's going to be high output. So, if you want to boil water quicker, you're going to want to use that one.
An extra large oven.
In the titanium series, you do not have to light the pilot. It's going to have a built-in igniter.
And then a pot and pan drawer down below.
Another bank of four drawers. Same story. You've got three, one with the cutlery tray, that are going to be the same size.
And then you're going to have this fourth one is a little bit deeper.
A spice rack that runs the entire length of this area.
A huge area underneath the sink.
And I often get asked if there's room for a garbage can.
But the most recent 19 MKSS's and 20 MKSS's do have the garbage can shoot. So, we have a spot outside that you can access where you can put a garbage can. Just drop your garbage right through there.
That way if you have pets or children or you just don't have space for a garbage can, it's nice and secure in that little compartment.
Single basin stainless steel farm style sink.
Has a wire rack in the bottom to protect the sink.
And then when I was taking these off, you can see that these are real solid surface countertops. So, they're not a vinyl wrapped countertop with particle board underneath that could warp. These are actual solid surface countertops.
Because it's a titanium, you're going to get the residential faucet with pullout sprayer, single lever.
And then, in throughout the coach, you're going to have the slow rise blackout shades.
You have the little clips on each side to keep those down.
Three 110 outlets along this massive counter space.
And then, a lot of additional overhead cabinets.
And then, some here in the corner, as well.
And then, for 2027, they've gone to a new refrigerator. It has the travel lock, which I absolutely love. I also love the layout of this refrigerator.
It's all 12-V. So, they've gone 12-V on all of the refrigerators, which just means that you do want to have adequate solar and lithium battery setup if you plan on boon docking. Now, most people are going to buy a Back Country because they do want to boon dock. That's why they want the generator.
So, you just want adequate solar and adequate batteries. All of the Outdoors RVs come standard with 400 W of solar.
Um the We typically option all of our Creeksides in with 600 W. However, the Back Country, another upgraded feature, is that you can order up to 1,000 W. So, we've been ordering a lot of our units with 1,000 W. And for whatever reason, it seems like the 1,000 W are just flying off the shelf. Um 600 W is very adequate for most people. Maybe some people want uh to camp more in low daylight hours or things of that nature.
Or, they just want to be a little bit on the overkill side, so that they're ready for whatever. Um but we typically order all of the back countries with 600 or 1,000 watts of solar.
You have a pocket door here to enter the bathroom. Usually in a shorter trailer, you're really going to sacrifice the bathroom. But in the 19MKS as well as the 20MKS, you really sacrifice nothing.
So, the toilet, which is porcelain, you're going to have a lot of legroom here in front of it.
You're going to get extra storage on the side of the toilet. We did just add this garbage can to our Shopify page. It's a slimline garbage can. It comes in three colors.
Super cool because it'll fit next to the toilet in almost every Outdoors RV model. But in this one, you have so much space, you can also put it up here on this shelf.
Heat duct as well as an air conditioning duct, like you get in all of the Outdoors RVs.
Additional storage here under the sink.
You also have access to your plumbing for winterization.
And then you get the largest shower pan in this trailer.
All of the other Outdoors RVs, there's only a handful of models that have this giant shower pan. So, that's a pretty cool thing to get in such a short overall trailer. And because it's a titanium, it's going to come with the upgraded titanium hardware. So, this is on an adjustable bar. You also have a soap dish.
And then because you get an overhead skylight, that's going to give you extra height here in the bathroom in the shower, if you're taller.
Retractable shower curtain.
And then another thing that's super cool, not only do you get additional storage in this bathroom, but you also have additional counter space. Because it's titanium, you're going to get the solid surface countertops, under-slung stainless steel sink, slightly uh taller arched faucet.
And then as always, you have the solid hardwood medicine cabinet.
The Titanium also will have the Titanium vanity mirror here in the bathroom.
USB-A as well as USB-C ports, towel hooks, and towel hooks again behind the uh the behind the toilet.
And then we option all of our units in with the MaxxAir Deluxe vent fans, so that is not a factory option. It's not a Titanium series option. That's something that we option in from the factory here at Thompson RV. We order ours with all of the options. So, in the bathroom, the MaxxFan is going to be a four-speed exhaust only. So, the wall switch is going to be right here. I just set it on the wall um versus having over the bed, you're going to have a remote because it's a 10-speed exhaust and intake fan.
But, it's still going to have the same built-in cover, so you can run it in the rain, you can run it going down the road, you can leave it open all the time. You also have a pump switch here in the bathroom. So, if you hop in the trailer, need to use the restroom while traveling or something, you can hit the pump switch here in the bathroom, turn on the water, and then turn it off when you're done using it. Digital thermostat and a 15K air conditioner. Those are features that come with the Titanium series. The Titanium series also has the whole slide-out trimmed out in wood versus Formica. And then you'll notice all of the trim around the windows is also done in wood. So, you get a much classier look.
Again, you get the slow rise blackout shades.
Theater seating is how we option in the 20MKS as well as our 19MKSs. However, you can get the sleeper sofa in this uh location. It fits exactly in the same spot. We keep sleeper sofas in stock here at Thompson RV. So, So, you want that swapped out, we can absolutely swap that out.
You have a little storage for remotes or books or whatever in the center console.
Two cup holders.
These cup holders, I do hear people say often it's a little tricky to find a cup that fits in there. They fit cans just fine, but not cups. Uh we sell a Yeti cup on our Shopify page. That's the 10 oz cup, says TRV on it, super cute, and it will fit right in there.
And then the theater seating does recline.
So, there's a little rip cord right there.
Now, one of the biggest features of the 20 MKS and the 19 MKS, as well as the 22, they're making all sorts of models now with this wall bed.
So, the coolest part about this is in a very small trailer, it used to be you had to choose. Do you want a dinette or do you want theater seating? You can't have both, right? Well, now you can get everything all in one, and a big bathroom, and lots of storage, and counter space, and a generator, and 100 gallons of water, right? So, the 20 MKS literally checks every single box that you could possibly want in a trailer.
The wall bed is something that is super easy to run up and down. I will show you here in just a second.
Titanium series upgraded mattress that's actually going to come on all wall bed models because it's a solid foam upgraded mattress. When you bend it, it's not going to get a crease in it, right? You also have a little extra storage on the back country model that you don't get in the 19.
You can see that you have a little headboard.
They've given you extra plugins. Because it's a titanium, you're going to get the reading lights. You're also going to get under cabinet lighting.
And then because it's a back country, you're going to have the little pistol safe next to the bed.
But the the titanium upgraded mattress will come on all models.
Another thing that I'm not sure I even mentioned is the Titanium comes with nicer cabinetry. So, you're going to get solid hardwood raised panel doors. So, if you open and close the doors on a standard Outdoors RV, they are much nicer than everything else out on the market. However, the Titanium series are really nice. So, they open and close really solid, and then you have this raised panel. You're going to see all the knots in the wood because it's an actual chunk of wood.
On each side of the bed, you're going to have a shirt ward, and then you're going to have additional storage up above.
Maxxair fan. So, this one is going to run on a remote.
If you haven't already seen it, uh we do offer a magnetic cover to go over that.
So, Outdoors RV gives you a foam pillow that goes up in there. Um however, the magnetic cover is super classy. We've been installing those like crazy since that video came out. Um we also are in the works of making one for all of the skylights. So, I've had a lot of requests for ones in the shower, especially in a model where the the shower light might kind of come out into the bedroom area. So, people want those.
So, we're working on that.
But, this particular Maxxair fan, 10 speeds, fully automatic, thermostatically controlled. You can do intake or exhaust, and it runs off of a remote, so you don't have to climb up on the bed to operate it.
The new Pendleton Spider Rock blanket.
Absolutely love this color with the colors in the back country. So, it pulls out the brown in the theater seating as well as the black in the dinette cushions, and then they have matching towel sets, too. So, you can outfit the whole trailer in Pendleton. And we do have this on our Shopify page. Now, this one's more of a throw. It's not a huge blanket, but that also makes it a little bit less expensive, which is nice.
If you had all your bedding on this bed, and you wanted to fold it up, I would recommend just kind of tucking in the sides. I have noticed that it helps the bed go up and latch a little bit easier.
So, if it was me, and I was out camping in this model, I would just take my comforter and fold in the sides like that. All your pillows, everything can stay up there, especially in the back country, because you have that additional headboard space.
It's really light to put up because they use such a heavy-duty piano hinge.
Just latches, just like that. Easy peasy.
Then, you're going to put down these little additional supports on each side.
And then, you can bring down Oh, I guess I didn't do that first. We'll go like that.
Lock the table in place.
And boom. Now, you have a dinette. So, I will say, me personally, I sit I want to sit on a sleeper sofa or theater seating. I need a sleeper sofa because I have three boys, right? So, sleeper sofa is what I need the most. Dinette to me is secondary. I have found that most people say the exact same thing. They don't need a dinette 24/7, right?
So, having this be an option, but if you wanted to, you could leave the bed down all the time. Just flip it up when it's raining, and you maybe want to play cards or eat a meal inside the trailer.
But, it's really nice to have everything. You get everything. You get the made-down bed, you get the dinette, you get the theater seating or the sleeper sofa, all of it.
Right here, next to the bed on each side, you're going to have a 110 outlet, couple of 110 outlets, and then USB and USB-C ports.
And then, your light switches, of course.
On each side of the dinette, you're also going to have additional storage.
And then these have a latch.
All of the Outdoors RVs have a latch on the pot and pan drawer, so they don't come flying open when you're traveling down the road.
And then over here by the entry door, you're going to have additional kitchen storage over here.
And then you have all your controls. So, your controls and your hour meter for your generator, we option in a 12-V uh fresh tank heater, your awning and your slide out. You've got manual switches right here. You also have a remote because this is a Titanium Series. So, you can run those items off of a remote while you're walking around the trailer or from the switches right here.
And then you also have your water heater switches, water pump switch. There's the additional one in the bathroom.
And then you have your uh gauges for all of your different tanks. Again, 100 gallons of fresh water on a Back Country Series, whether it's the smallest one or the biggest one. So, that's a cool feature to have.
Oh, yeah. For 2027, the main lights in the living area are going to be on a dimmer.
So, that is a new cool feature that I feel like is something that we've really wanted for a long time and just haven't had happen. So, I'm super excited to see that as well. With the slide out in the in position, you can access everything in the coach.
The bed can stay in the made down position. Also, you can travel with it either or. If you want it up, leave it up. If you want it down, you can leave it down. But, there's plenty of room for the slide out to get in and out with the bed down.
Lots of floor space right here. We don't recommend that you use the slide out while it's in the in position. We also don't recommend that you step on the slide out. So, you're not going to want to step on this. You're not going to want to sit in the theater seating, but everything else you can use.
You can easily access the kitchen, the refrigerator, and all the way into the restroom.
The overall length on the 20 MKS is only 25 ft 2 in.
I know we get a lot of people that really want to stay under the 30-ft mark, and this is well under that. So, you can pretty much get this anywhere you want to go.
In that 25 2 package, you're That's including the spare tire as well as the front hitch.
You're going to get the back country graphics, and because it's a Titanium series, you're going to get the Lamalux 4000 high gloss fiberglass exterior. So, that's an upgraded fiberglass that you would get on this model versus the mountain.
You also get a full-length awning. And that awning is fully electric, and it also is wrapped in aluminum. So, if you rake it down a tree or something like that, it's not going to cut the fabric.
It also protects the fabric from UV rays, which is probably the main reason we end up replacing fabric is just the sun beats on it and ends up deteriorated.
You've got two outside speakers. Those are going to run off of that interior stereo.
And then, because it's a Titanium, you're also going to get the auto leveling system. So, when you park, you've unhitched from your truck, you push a button, and this trailer is going to auto level itself just like you would find on a half-a-million-dollar motorhome. So, that's another thing is when people sometimes are downsizing to either the Creekside 19 MKS or a smaller Timber Ridge or even this back country is they want the same features they had on their big motorhome, right? They don't want to cut down on quality.
That's why they want the Titanium series is because you're going to want all of those features.
Especially the auto leveling, especially the high gloss fiberglass. The windows, they're going to be a frameless window instead of a framed window. They're still going to be dual pane glass, so that great great four seasons package that Outdoors RV is known for. 2-in thick bonded walls. You're still getting all of that quality, but then also with just a prettier package.
Right here, this is where you would store your garbage can because you've got the garbage can shoot that we looked at on the inside. You also have a little light in here.
And there's storage for some other stuff in there as well. So, even if you're not going to use it for a garbage can, you can use this for something. They always use double slam latches on all of their doors, and all of their doors are always insulated.
You have a 110 outlet right here.
You also have a fire pit barbecue hookup, so just a quick disconnect LP hookup underneath.
Now, one thing to note is when you're running off of this, it's going to be low pressure.
So, most appliances are meant to be run directly off of high pressure bottles like the little green cylinders.
When you're running off of this, it's going to be low pressure because it's already downwind from the regulator.
So, it's regulated pressure. You're going to need a special hose to run off of this, which of course we have on our Shopify page. We have one for Weber and for Blackstone.
Back Country, you're going to get the 16-in wheels and tires. Those are Goodyear load range E, and they're the endurance tires.
On all of the Outdoors RVs, you're going to get the Off-Road X4 suspension package. So, that's going to be the more ride all trek 4000 suspension. Heavy duty shackles with bronze bushings, greaseable zerts, and then also the KYB off-road shocks.
They're not just for off-road.
They're great for traveling down the freeway because the KYB shocks help prevent body roll.
Right here, this is where you would fill your 100-gallon fresh water tank.
Right here, you've got a 10-gallon gas electric water heater.
Those are all rapid recovery nowadays, too. So, you really don't run out of hot water because they're rapidly recovering, just as the name implies.
You've got a chrome grab bar handle right here next to the door.
And because of axle placement, because this trailer is so short, you're going to have the Lippert solid step that's going to fold up into the door on this particular model.
Chrome accents because it's a Titanium series.
And coming around here, another Titanium feature is going to be side marker cameras, as well as a rear observation camera. So, the camera package comes with the Titanium series.
One thing I talk about in a lot of videos, but I've never actually shown one, is our plug for Starlink. So, the Starlink you want to purchase is the Starlink Mini. It only has one cord. All you have to do is power it up and has gives Wi-Fi to your whole trailer, right?
If you go with the other Starlink, it's a total pain because not only do you have to power it on the outside of the coach, you also then have to run a cable back inside into the trailer.
You can do that by running it through a screen. You can sort of push your seal aside on your slide out and run it that way, but there's no good way to do it other than dropping the underbelly, running a wire, and drilling back up through the floor. So, it's not something we do here. So, if you're going to purchase an Outdoors RV from us, we would prefer that you get the Starlink Mini, then we can put in this 12-V port.
So, it's a really, as you can see, it's a very nice weather proof, high-end, uh, plug that we add in.
And then this is for additional solar.
So, that will do up to 200 W of additional solar. As I mentioned earlier, 400 W comes standard. We typically order ours with 600 as a minimum and then 1,000 watts from the factory.
Again, insulated door, magnetic catches.
And then right inside here, you have another portion of the Starlink.
So, that little blue box, we install that as well. You also have a battery kill switch, 12-volt and USB port, your auto leveling controls, an LED light strip.
And then this particular model has 600 watts of solar, and that's why it has just a single charge controller, not double. One thing to note is that these charge controllers aren't connected with this port. So, when you buy a portable port or por- portable solar, if you ever do get one, you want to make sure that it has a charge controller built in to it.
Another back country feature, because you've got the generator on the other side, this is going to be a little bit wider compartment, but it's not a full pass-through because the generator's on the other side. So, Outdoors RV Outdoors RV gives you this really nice MoreRyde pull-out tray.
And then you also have a shovel and ax holder.
Because it's built on the custom 8-in chassis, you're going to get the full fiberglass front cap. So, you don't have a seam right here. It wraps all the way around and seams here on the side.
You have the Rhino lining on the lower half.
And then we option all of our units in with what's called the mountain storage package, which is a toy lock cable lock here on the front, and then a rear receiver hitch on the back.
The back country series is going to come standard with the tray here behind the propane tanks.
They call it a quad tray, but that was back when we were using littler 12-V batteries or 6-V batteries. Uh now we would consider it for three lithium batteries. So, this is our custom powder-coated aluminum locking box.
We have that built here locally.
And we can fit up to 300 amp hour batteries in that box.
You get 10 gallon propane tanks on a back country because you're using a little bit more propane with the LP generator.
Front power tongue jack.
And one thing I wanted to show today is the Anderson bucket. We have these on our Shopify page, but of course, when people are picking up, I don't think anybody leaves without one of these. So, just know that it's something that you're really going to want. It does magnet to the bottom of this jack, but it just gives your jack a little bit of extra throw so that it doesn't run out of stroke.
Especially handy with the auto-leveling system.
Uh one thing I do want to mention is one time we had a gentleman that for whatever reason he saw a YouTube video somewhere that said you should put these buckets under every single auto-level jack. That is not true. Do not do that.
It does not work. So, you just want one for the front.
Here on the hitch, you also have a place to store your seven-way uh cable as well as your safety chains and your breakaway cable.
The Wallace adjustable coupler.
That's standard on all of the Outdoors RVs.
Additional side marker camera. And then this is where you have your Onan 3600 LP generator.
We shot We saw the switch inside. So, that's going to run directly off your propane. So, if you want to start up the air conditioner or for some reason you want to pack a Keurig or something like that, blow dryer, whatever it is, you can just hit that switch inside. It's already Everything's plumbed in. It just takes a second and then the 110 power will kick on.
Another feature that comes on the Titanium that is a must-have is the slide-out topper.
So, the slide-out topper keeps dirt, debris, water, ice, snow, everything off the top of your slide-out. Then, when you retract the slide, everything just falls right off of the topper.
Over here, this is going to be your black tank flush. So, when you're done dumping your black and gray tanks, this one will rinse out your black tank.
Speaking of that, right here is where you're going to connect the sewer hose to drain both the gray and the black.
Both valves are going to be right here at the back end.
If you're in a park and you didn't pack 100 gallons of fresh water, you can connect to city water right here.
They are labeled. This one says "Sanitize flush." This one says "City water connection." However, we have still had people that confuse them and hook their city water up to this. You don't want to do that. I feel like that goes without saying, but just remember that you're going to want to do the city water connection.
Insulated door, and this is your spray port. So, it comes with a coiled blue hose with a little sprayer on the end.
It has a separate water pump. So, don't forget that when you're winterizing, too. This is going to be a separate water pump from the one that's in the main uh coach, and you have a switch right there to turn it on.
Little light here at the back end.
Another thing that I have been mentioning lately because it's really important is you have screw-on lens covers.
So, not the little cheap ones that pop off.
4-in steel bumper.
You can store your sewer hose in the bumper.
Right here is where you'll connect your 30-amp power cord. The back countries are only 30-amp. They are not offered in 50-amp.
With the insulation on an Outdoors RV, really, you don't need dual air conditioners, especially on something like this.
Um if you did want to do air conditioner model, you can get that in the Timber Ridge or the Blackstone Glacier Peak those models.
Cable and satellite hookup.
And then backup lights, that's another titanium feature that I absolutely love.
Works great in conjunction with the rear observation camera.

Your rear receiver hitch is just right under this. So, this is a 2-in receiver, good for up to 250 lb. That is part of the mountain storage package.

And then you have a nice heavy-duty ladder to get up and down off of the full plywood walk-on roof.
