What I'm Doing To Stay Lean While Eating More Food
Added:Hey.
Hair looks different. Different intro.
We are starting off in the car because I am on the go this morning.
So, we have humongous bowl of pre-workout and it's a little bit droopy. So, I kind of hope that it doesn't droop on me. If it does, I have like four paper towels to kind of help that out. I really hope this car mount I have actually stays cuz it doesn't look too promising in all honesty. I'm pissed. I paid $45 for it on Amazon. I'm probably honestly going to return it in like a week because every time I've used it, I just Yep, there it goes. There it goes. All right. You know what? I couldn't do what I wanted to do, which was a car talk vlog. Talk to you guys after I'm done with driving. All right, we are back.
We're heading to the gym now. I really wish that camera mount kind of worked, dude. I have the box right here. Never buy from this company. Their ads look really good on social media. The Clutch X phone mount, awful. Zero out of 10.
Horrible piece of device. Awful. Would not recommend it. But, if it did work, the footage this morning would've been so funny because eating that whole big bowl of cream of rice and four seaweed snacks was a task at hand while driving. Let me tell you that. Definitely not the most ideal form of eating in terms of enjoyment and also cleanliness because I was dropping [ __ ] all over myself.
Luckily, not on my white Young LA shirt, but it did fall back in the bowl. And seaweed snacks, man, they're oily.
Steering wheel, I don't think I got oil on it, fortunately enough. I went to therapy, man.
I do go to therapy. I've been going to therapy since September. And what's so interesting is when I was younger, I always had like a hard head approach about therapy. I was always like, "I don't need therapy. I can figure it out myself. Why would I need therapy? This and that." There's so many different forms of therapy out there, you know, talking to someone's a form of therapy, whether it's your friends, your mom, your girlfriend, or an unbiased person.
That's pretty much what therapy is is an unbiased opinion you're speaking to. I really, really, really enjoy it cuz I like speaking about different topics, whether it even not be an issue in my life. Having a person who has studied and practiced, you know, psychology, having conversation with them has been extremely therapeutic for myself.
So, I genuinely enjoy it, you know. I don't know how many people go to therapy. I know a lot of my friends don't. And I feel like as a guy, it's not necessarily the most common. And that was always my approach or my thought process on it was That's my car over there. Same car. How you doing? It was like, you know, why would I need therapy? But here's me letting you guys I go to therapy. So, if you want to go to therapy, give it a shot. It can help you out. I really enjoy it and I go every 2 weeks just to speak about different [ __ ] We have arms today though, which is another form of therapy. Therapy arm day. Just kidding, it's not really a form of therapy. Oh, what am I saying, bro? It's a form of therapy. Yeah, we're going to hit arms today. That split I wrote out for myself, if you saw that video, I honestly forget what it is. I have to go rewatch the video that's already live to see what the split is. My body is taxed, dude. I woke up this morning. I was like, we're not doing our cardio. So, what I did was I walked for cardio instead of doing the elliptical for 45 minutes. So, I walked for 45. I'll either cut the grass tonight or I'll do another like walk for like an hour, which will be my total cardio for the day. Oh, I got to cough.
My bad. I kind of needed a rest day. So, rest day, we're going to hit arms.
Skipping cardio. Not really, substituting it with walking. So, I'll see you at the gym. My nose is huge, bro. Look at that [ __ ] bro. That [ __ ] is big. It's really big.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Oh yeah, what another great freaking workout, man. You don't get too many of those, you know?
What I really like about working out sometimes is when you have those workouts when you're not necessarily like on a high in the beginning, you know, you're not like super adrenalized and like manic to go lift, but you slowly make your way into it and you know, throughout time in the workout, it just starts getting better and better and better. That's what happened today, you know, I got in there. I was waiting for the cable tower to open up.
One got snagged from me.
But I was watching the World Cup and I was like, you know what? Maybe this person's in a rush. I'll let them have it. I'm not going to say anything. So, I continued to watch the World Cup.
Finally, when it opened up, wormed my way up into it.
And then as time went on, I got the you know, the What are they called? The creaks out of my joints. Things started to feel better.
And I started having a really good workout. So, that was awesome, man. I'm extremely extremely vascular. What's so funny is I remember like in the beginning of the gym phase, looking up like how to get a bicep vein on YouTube and then they'll be like exercises saying, you know, like do a 4 by 12 of curls, a 3 by 15 of hammer curls, just straight up arm exercises. And are they inherently wrong? No, but the real answer for vascularity obviously is leanness when it comes to body fat percentage to be lean enough to see vascularity.
But it's also a mixture I think of like the muscle being exposed over time to stimulus and stress by exercise and hypertrophy to become more vascular. Some people may think that's bro science. That's my anecdotal evidence from my career is just as time went on, man, I became more vascular.
Like did I have all these veins from my shoulders and in my arms and triceps and even like back veins? No, I didn't have them in the beginning. Throughout years, like you just kind of unlock new veins and I'm sure as well there has something Ooh, fire truck right here.
What's going on?
Oh, it's just a straight up smoke smoke alarm went off. Rip. And I didn't I never had back veins when I started out in the gym when I was 14. Those back veins started coming when I exposed myself to contest preps and I got super super lean and then bulked back up, exposed myself back to getting lean. And then time it started coming. Another thing I want to mention with what I've noticed with my body and physique right now is my body is currently a furnace. I have been structurally on a diet for probably a good 2 months now, so 8 weeks. Actually, probably 10 weeks now.
The first 6 weeks was like all in a deficit and then I started doing like refeeds like once a week and things like that. Now, I'm at the point where when you go into a deficit, right? You start losing weight. You start burning fat.
And what ends up happening is your metabolism and your body is smart. It's not just going to continue burning at the same rate as it was previously. If it did, it's eventually going to burn itself through and it has to maintain homeostasis, which is survival. So, what happens is your metabolism kind of drops. What you do is you pretty much give yourself refeeds and things like that. And imagine the best analogy I can give here is like a coal train. The engine of the coal train starts to or the furnace of the coal starts to diminish. They start putting more coal in, the engine picks back picks back up.
That's what happened to my body right now. And I'm at the stage where I'm pretty much feeding it more calories and it's starting to be really pumped, right? Cuz I'm lean, starting to get really pumped. But then, there's the trade-off, right? You continue to add continue to add fuel to that fire and eventually the fire is not going to burn through all that fuel and it's going to hold on to that fuel, which will then convert to body fat. So, right now, I'm be feeding myself for as long as I notice until I start getting a little bit out of control body fat percent-wise. I don't think I'm high body fat at all by any means right now.
So, I'm going to continue adding coal, aka food, to my furnace until I'm like, "All right, let's kind of reel it back in a little bit." If I had to estimate with my body right now and all the experience I've had with doing kind of like a little reverse, probably another 3 weeks.
Yeah, 3 weeks.
Start getting really, really full, maintain conditioning. And then what ends up happening is you start getting a little bit watery.
And then at that stage is when I'm like, "Okay, let's reel it back in. Let's start adding some carb-less meals."
I'm going to keep my It's very simple in my case, right? Cardio is staying the same.
Still 45 minutes in the morning. Soccer on Fridays.
All it basically is, the only variable I'll be controlling is pretty much my caloric intake.
Protein stays the same.
My fats right now are a little bit higher because I am having things um in the house that Ali has due to her little bit of an upset stomach. Right?
She has like some cream cheese that she bought, some pretzels. So, I'm enjoying that stuff, a little bit extra carbohydrates, which is obviously fueling my body right now and giving me that extra pump. Basically, it's just cutting a little bit of that junk out.
And we'll start losing some weight again and um flattening out.
And then you repeat that cycle. And then if I wanted to like maintain more, all I would basically do right now is probably lower my carbohydrates by like 75 g, 75 to 50 g a day.
And I'd pretty much maintain like a super subtle, nice fullness without like crazy, crazy pumps, just like a clean, nice fullness. But, what's the fun in that? We want to have some crazy days here and there, right?
>> Post-workout time.
Part one.
>> Pound of chicken, what you know about it? You guys know a lot actually, since it's been the go-to for the last couple days as I'm trying to use up the chicken before it goes bad. The expiration date was the 14th.
It's the 15th. So, we're eating this up.
After I finish this, I got three cinnamon raisin bagels and some sugar-free jelly.
>> They're calling my name. World Cup's on.
Ali's not feeling good today. She ate some eggs, which was too harsh on her stomach. And she uh I don't think she threw up, but her stomach was uneasy. So, she's kind of out of commission today. I got to get the thumbnail for the cream of rice video to go out, which you guys probably already saw if you're watching consistently. I appreciate that. But, I got to go create that and then um I'm going to catch you with what's going on after.
>> Keep going, buddy. That's so nice.
You've been a good big brother. Do you love Mac? Two peas in a pod.
>> Yeah.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> I literally had to change to the wide angle lenses I couldn't figure out getting my head big ass head in the stream. Hello little dude. Do you not bite my bread? Did some coaching work, edited a little Instagram reel. Ali did throw up again.
This recovery for her is not easy, man.
Yeah, not feeling too hot. I guess the medicine antibiotics really screwed her up. Cuz right after she stopped that, her medication, it just went to [ __ ] I can't wait to do fun things with you again. Speaking of eggs, I have three here to eat. Then I'm going to make myself a nice little turkey sandwich.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> That actually looks like pretty like Toys "R" Us-y, like just nothing too crazy, TBH.
>> Your boy game is ending in hmm, like 10 minutes.
It's 1-1. Crazy crazy World Cup so far.
Can you stop? I love you, but stop eating my food. I love sandwiches, provolone, garlic aioli, tomato, turkey, one slice turkey bacon, and a [music] bagel. Something like this, bro, you can totally make a meal out of. And depending on your goals, could be a cutting meal or bulking meal. Bulking meal, I mean, this plus more. Cutting meal, this plus less. Kidding.
Use some like keto bread or carb bread.
Don't use mayo. I would use like a sugar-free dressing. Turkey, [music] I would do low-fat cheese, tomato. There you go, pretty simple.
>> [music] >> All righty. We are clocking the night out with final meal of steak and potatoes. It's always a go-to. I always like a red meat before I go to bed. You know, if you compare it to something like chicken, any lean meat source, whey protein, egg whites, there's fat in here, so that slows down digestion. So, when I'm asleep for 8 hours tonight, this is going to be in my system a bit longer compared to that leaner meat. It's also rich in iron.
This uh steak, got some potatoes, some good [music] fiber.
Once again, a bit more slower digesting compared to rice. Whether it's a sweet potato, a steak, salmon, something like that, always kind of like my last meal of the day.
Something I am kind of up in the air about is increasing to another meal a day because four is four is kind of light, you know, it kind of drags me along where I am giving myself extra time in between meals. If you give yourself a fifth meal, it'll probably be like a really sick good sweet spot. But, adding that fifth meal currently is adding in at least 700 calories of food and when I weigh out, I want to weigh my options here, but I want to ensure that it's not too much of a surplus now by adding that fifth meal in.
This is a good game right now, Iran versus New Zealand, 2-2. It'll be like if they tie it 2-2, that means everyone in this group tied today. How crazy. All right, we got some taste testing to do.
I don't even know if this is allowed to be spoken about, but Huge Supplements is releasing a new form of food. Yeah, it's oatmeal. We're taste testing some protein oatmeal.
Needs more flavor. Yeah, cinnamon roll needs more flavor. I'm excited for this one, blueberry cobbler.
It's nice. I like this one. I'd say blueberry cobbler gets a pass from me.
Chocolate banana. It's like a really solid protein oatmeal flavor.
There's banana, banana of chocolate.
Funny enough, I feel like it usually be the wrong other way around, you know, I feel like banana would be hard to get the flavor down, but you can taste the banana really good in here. There's actually not enough chocolate in this one.
All right, guys.
>> [sighs] >> We're going to close out the video here.
I'm uploading the footage now. So, thank you guys so much for tuning in to the video so far. Appreciate you watching them and enjoying them. I'll see you tomorrow with I believe it's shoulders and I'll be back on the cardio grind tomorrow. We'll see where things are at.
Hopefully Ali's feeling better and maybe I'll pick up reading again tomorrow.
I've just been so busy with maintaining the house that I've been off of my reading game cuz I usually do in the morning, but it's been a bit hectic. So, it'd be pretty cool if I could read tomorrow, but thank you guys for watching. Peace out.
