Northeast Ohio weather forecast: Cooler fall preview

[00:00:14]>> So, it's definitely feeling fallish, right? It's It's little goose pimply out there. I think a lot of folks were running out out the door this morning going, "Wait a minute."

[00:00:22]>> What happened?

[00:00:23]>> What? But, it's not going to last long.

[00:00:25]Summer will return to Northeast Ohio.

[00:00:27]But, for right now, we took a step back.

[00:00:28]It is a beautiful evening here in the land as the sun sparkles on Lake Erie's nearshore waters. Clear skies expected to continue for us with a few clouds here and there. Temperatures, though, by 10:00 p.m. will be in the 50s. So, if you are an evening walker, you like to take the dog out later on in the evening, plan on taking a jacket. Your dog's going to be loving it, but uh it's definitely going to be a little bit cool out there. And those clear skies are expected to continue all the way into the morning.

[00:00:54]>> Let's get you set up with three things to know in this forecast. It is obviously cooler than average. We're going to stay cooler than average for tomorrow. Our average high on this date is 84°. We'll get back to that once we get to the weekend, but it doesn't look like we're going to get a huge heat wave coming until maybe Monday. We're going to see temperatures kick back up toward 90°. That is ahead of another front that may bring us some showers and storms on Sunday, and then a return to below average temperatures for the rest of next week. Temperatures are currently in the upper 60s to right around 70°.

[00:01:26]Northerly breezes keeping things kind of fresh. And you notice that our lakeshore temperatures are warmer than temperatures farther south. Now, this is kind of the flip of what we have been seeing up till this point, right? So, the cool air is here, but we're getting a little heating element taking place from the warmer waters of Lake Erie. And so, that's helping to hold those lakeshore temperatures up just a little bit. Areas away from the lake tonight will be cooler. I'm saying 50s for Cleveland. We may have some 40s in some of our outlying areas. So, definitely kind of a good night to crack the windows open a little bit, maybe add an extra blanket. It's going to be nice. We have 91 in Denver, 102 right now in Phoenix, 105 for Vegas, and you can see 105 in Dallas, 100 for Houston. That is all ahead of Tropical Storm Bertha that is currently spinning just around the Louisiana bayous, and that will continue to move westward over the next couple of days. That is totally disconnected from anything that we have going on. Off the West Coast, big area of low pressure.

[00:02:25]That's the driver right now for North America's weather pattern. That is forcing all of the air to go up over the Rockies and then come down into Northeast Ohio. So, that's why we have this cool air that is in place. There's the jet stream pattern. Here's where all the hot air is banked. Watch what happens as we go through the next few days. That hot air begins to expand eastward. Monday, we're going to be in the low 90s. Tuesday and Wednesday, we return to the cooler air as we have another pocket of cooler air that drops into Northeast Ohio. For tonight, it's comfortably cool. We'll be in the 50s again. Some areas possibly in the 40s tomorrow morning. Just a few clouds tomorrow, but all in all, very pleasant.

[00:03:06]That northwest wind is expected to continue. That will create a chop on Lake Erie's nearshore waters. So, if you're going to be on the lake, be careful. Union Home Mortgage Outlook, as you can see, it's going to be warming up for the next few days. We should get right around 80 on Friday. We'll jump toward more seasonable temperatures this weekend with mid and upper 80s. Late Sunday, some rain chances start to rumble in. Better chances on Monday.

[00:03:28]That's ahead of a front. You can see the temperature drop there from Monday into Tuesday. We'll stay in the 70s for most of next week. So, when you kind of compare to where we have been over the last month or so, it's okay. It's all good. Nice and cool. We can handle it.
