Certain surgically correctable conditions such as endometrial polyps (corrected via hysteroscopic polypectomy), uterine septum (corrected via hysteroscopic resection), fibroids, cysts, and endometriosis (treated via laparoscopic surgery), as well as tubal conditions like distal tubal block (corrected via tubal cannulation) and hydrosalpinx (corrected via laparoscopic tubal clipping), can significantly improve fertility outcomes when identified during proper infertility evaluation.

Hysteroscopic polypectomy: The procedure that saved our fertility
Added:Hi, I'm Dr. Vaishali. I'm a consultant obstetrician gynecologist and laparoscopic surgeon at Birthright by Rainbows, Hebbal unit, Bangalore. Now, I'm talking about a very important topic, that is surgical causes of infertility and the procedures which can improve the chances of conception.
So, during evaluation of subfertility, there are >> [music] >> certain conditions which can be corrected surgically. Some of them are conditions like endometrial polyps which can cause implantation failures, >> [music] >> which can be easily corrected by hysteroscopic polypectomy. Conditions like uterine septum, where a thin wall-like structure is present inside the uterine cavity >> [music] >> and can cause repeated abortions. This again can be corrected by hysteroscopic surgical resection. And there are conditions like fibroids and cysts or endometriosis, which can be treated by laparoscopic surgeries.
Certain tubal conditions, that is the conditions of the fallopian tube, like a distal tubal block which can be identified by a HSG or evaluation through laparoscopy, [music] can be corrected by laparoscopic or hysteroscopic tubal cannulation. And if before IVF, we find out that the woman is having bilateral hydrosalpinx, that is swellings of the tube, they need to undergo a procedure called as laparoscopic tubal clipping, which greatly improves the chances of conception in the IVF procedures. So, proper evaluation of infertility is important and if it is surgically correctable, appropriate procedures need to be undertaken.
