What is preterm birth? Deliveries that happen before 37 weeks. Other than that, 2 to 5% of total deliveries are preterm.

[00:00:15]Total deliveries 2 to 5% [music] are preterm deliveries. What are the causes?

[00:00:20]One cause is 34 weeks before your water breaks and leaks out.

[00:00:26]You can have a preterm delivery. Second thing, infections. Third thing, if your cervix is weak, you can have a preterm delivery. Even if your [music] waters break 34 weeks before, with special monitoring, we can prolong the pregnancy for a few days to few weeks. And that can happen only in a equipped [music] center with good neonatal facilities as well. Previous pregnancy and preterm birth subsequent pregnancy [music] and preterm birth risk are high.
