CoQ10 is a large, fat-soluble molecule that does not mix well with water, and since the gut is primarily water-based, standard CoQ10 supplements often fail to be absorbed effectively; cocrystal technology addresses this by redesigning the molecule at a microscopic level to improve water solubility and stability, potentially increasing absorption by 2-4 times compared to standard formulations.

Why Most CoQ10 Supplements Fail After 50? | Dr Kiat
Added:But here's another issue that matters more than which form of CoQ10 you take, it's the absorption. CoQ10 is a large and fat soluble molecule. It doesn't mix well with water and your gut is mostly water. So a lot of CoQ10 just doesn't get absorbed. That means with many standard CoQ10 supplements, a good amount may not even reach your bloodstream and your cells. One approach is called co-crystal technology. You redesign the molecule at a microscopic level and so it becomes more water soluble, more stable and easier to absorbed. And early studies suggest the co-crystal technology can improve absorption by around two to four times compared to standard CoQ10 with higher levels in the blood. Ubiquinol can be degraded when exposed to air. The co-crystal technology helps to solve this. It pairs ubiquinol with another molecule, often nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3. This creates a more stable structure.
