A Perfect Day Let's Hope For Perfect Fishing
Added:Another fantastic dawn. Flat, calm, still. You can hear all nature before the island wakes up with all the cars and things.
It's perfect out here. Let's hope for some perfect fishing.
Heat.
Heat.
We are starting with a bit of early morning bassing. and then we'll probably move off and go somewhere else after.
But we just want to see if there's any a bass or two around.
There hasn't been a great deal lately, but there's been one here and one there.
So, it's just if they're big enough, cuz a lot of them are very small to find one that's big, bigger.
Jack's just got some mackerel.
>> Early morning macro.
It might be too small, but you never know. We'll have a look.
[laughter] >> What have we got?
>> Say that's 43.
>> 43.
>> Well, that's lovely. That's our bass then.
>> Our bass for today. I would like to cuz it's always nice to have a couple but try a little bit longer and if not doesn't matter.
Heat. Heat.
Nice. That's a nice one.
Definitely going to be another one.
Heat. Heat.
So once again, we have come out miles and miles and miles in the middle of nowhere. Found a bit of rock in the middle of the ocean. Never fished here before and we're just trying it out.
About a 12 m drop on this rock, so hoping there might be fish on it. seem to be shors of fish over it, but I don't seem to be biting. It might just be bait fish.
Hold the phone. Hold the phone. Hold the phone.
Something grabbed it at about 200 ft of water.
Now it's got to get to the surface.
Get the national.
>> Yes. If you want to do full of water, you if it's nice like this, go right out and just look for anything, any kind of structure and then fish it. It's not a huge pock, but it's a bollock. I'm going to move up again onto that rock again.
Another fish on our brand new mock.
You're pleased as well. Yeah.
See what happens to pollock when they come up in the real depths or can happen. Literally their stomachs explode out. That's a that's its innards all gone.
And that's why they don't go back down.
People say, "Oh, I popped the swim bladder." It's not going to necessarily help cuz that literally has exploded.
You go down with the size of that pout. [laughter] >> That's a size.
>> Right. Well, we stopped fishing that Mark. But we end up with two nice pollock, a very big pout. I mean, that pout is enormous. And a mackerel.
And now we're going to try another spot.
Finally caught something.
Okay.
Landon deck might be a bit sunny.
Orange is Yeah. So this is another fish of the day.
So, I made a risky move. That was to drag the weight along the bottom. A bit mixed around here, but something grabbed onto it. It's that disturbance, that banging and churning up, which can bring a fish or two over, but it does work occasionally, particularly for green us.
It's amazing. It's a trap.
Blow him up. Bit of a [ __ ] We got to get fishing.
Oh, you got a gnard.
>> Gard.
>> How cool is that? Look at the size of it. That's a view.
They're lovely. We especially when they're that big.
>> Yeah, that's my PB, I reckon.
>> I reckon so.
>> PB ger.
>> One of the biggest goners I've seen you have before, for sure. Yeah, that is a monster for a red >> and not to be outdone.
Oh, baby red. Look at mine, though.
>> Look at the size difference. Look at the Look at the size difference. [laughter] At least he's got me on that one.
Right. I'm going to put him back cuz he's about to fall off anyway. I'm going to put mine back. We'll keep the big one, but we're going to let the little one go.
Look at it. That's my one of my smallest gners. That is But we'll watch him go.
Ready?
Oh, look at the speed that went.
>> Yeah, >> there you are with that one.
>> Grunting.
>> Oh, yeah. The grunt.
So, how many of you have ever tried red gnard?
It's I find it's very sweet meat. Very nice, but you really need a big one cuz they're all head and they got a very narrow body. You need a big one to get some decent fillets off. But um if you haven't tried it, then uh I suggest you try it one day if you ever come across one. Very pretty fish, but when they taste that good on top and down the bottom.
And yet another mark. We moved again.
Keep moving.
of course my group species.
>> You lost it.
>> It's just a wee bit small.
Yeah, I'm going to say [screaming] >> changed me mind.
>> Oh, finally.
>> Get it in. Get it in. It's a nice green.
>> Last green. Struggling to find them this year, I tell you.
>> I found one the other day, but I mean, finding one, you know.
One nice bream.
>> Yeah, that's my bream.
>> Rebecca's got into something again. I'm having a dry spell at the moment. These new lures are not working too well.
Got to be a poet this time.
I just lift it.
Look like it was in the top part of the mountain.
>> Hard to tell when it's only just a small pool.
>> Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Thing is, they shouldn't dive down cuz they should be blown.
There's birds going anywhere.
That's the perfect hook actually. Right in the top.
He's got the time to find something.
>> Another nice fish.
They're giants though, you know.
>> I mean, that's a nice fish to eat.
>> That's solid. That is That's a perfect size for that fish.
Back bait seems to be working better than Louis at the moment. Oh, there we go. So, it is this side fish. Okay.
Okay, then we want to be this side.
Feels like a horse smack or something.
go straight back down. We're still coming up the side. We're not up there.
It's 33 at the moment. But it it's quite a gentle raise up. It's not a vicious rock face. So it might just be a sandbar or smooth rocky with hoverfly.
Push macro leader.
Okay, go with the next. We've only got little hooks. These are size two on this. That one's all right. It's not enormous, but it's big enough. He's totally blown inside.
Heat. Heat.
mackerel.
All on mackerel. Nothing on the lure.
Right. Well, we finished fishing for now. We've just come over to do our pots which are here. I'm going to do a couple of sets out. Well, about four sets out here.
Not expecting too much. Probably a lot of octopus again. We'll see.
Oh, hey.
Hey.
Oh, got a lobster.
And I pretty sure it size wasn't in in the trap either.
Yeah. Centimeter overb >> male lobster. Yeah.
What we want lobster.
That's what I want anyway.
Anybody else?
And that's quite good cuz there's nothing else in here apart from the lobster. Look at the that little basket.
I think that's the trick going over bait get uh octopus you're interested in the pond place to put it. There's ice on the sand out on the ocean. Look at that lobster in there. We're on the open now we're near the rocks.
>> You know what?
>> And you know the other day we dumped it down without sounder as well over.
>> Yeah, the sounder wasn't working the other day so we just flung them down without it. I mean, it worked, but it was messing around. So, I just shut it down.
I think that makes sides.
Yeah. Two of two. Two. We're going to put on the floor or something. And then I have to band it. I might band it in.
Another size one only just but it's size I'll put in Lots of heat.
There you go.
Is that a Is that a perfect condition, Joy?
We'll pull it out.
That might be a head off bag and back to get the weight.
So, we got one very large octopus in here. He's got the tip missing off that foot, but only the tip.
That's a jumbo one. That's going to be about I don't know what that be 12 pound 12b in weight maybe that one that one Oh, look at that.
What do you think?
>> Well, like you say, it's a big one. As long as the head's >> Can you grab it?
Heavy. Yeah. Yeah.
There you go.
That's interesting. This old black grill put it on open.
I can't get away from Hello. Hello, babes.
I think we'll I think we've got enough of Look, look what he's on.
>> Go on the long air.
>> That conga head.
>> Remember, we just left it in there for days and days. Look, there's almost nothing left of it. Yeah, he's in there for him. I told you they love it.
Extra rock.
[screaming] What a beauty in here.
under.
There we go. Nice big male lobster.
Been a good day for lobster for these pots. Anyway, makes a change. Right, let's get down there for a minute.
Yeah.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
This is quite spider crowds letting go there.
That one's a bit small.
quite lively when they come out the pot with the lighthouse.
Maybe not.
Yeah.
For a second there. I thought it something's had a go at that bait.
Got an octopus in here, but something had a right or go with it. Barely got any legs left.
Probably hus maybe eel actually probably got in there. Ripped it to shreds.
Look at that.
One leg left or one longer arm.
Yep.
So, that wasn't too bad a day. I mean, it was it was slow and we picked up quite a mixture, but Rebecca's just sorting them out at the moment. But there you go. Look, we got we got Well, Rebecca's got a massive gurn right there. PB that is >> definitely and nice bream there some bass mackerel and there's pollock under there about seven pollock I think so all in all not too bad oh and we also had some horse mackerel on top of that so um yeah it turned out right wind's got up a little bit now but it's supposed to get up in a day or two quite strong so we'll see we're going to try and go out tomorrow again but it's all down to what the weather And of course, not forgetting lobsters. We got three lobsters when we pulled our pots on the way back in. I'm very pleased at that.
And they all made size as well. Well, I mean, there's a huge one in the middle, medium on the right, and a smaller one on the top, but all well over.
So, great to see some lobster for a change.
and very few octopus. We had suppose we had total about four four we might seen something like that. So they seem to have quietened down maybe for the moment.
Anyway, catch you on the next one.
