Blood in urine (hematuria) can result from various causes including urinary tract infections, kidney stones, enlarged prostate, intense exercise, certain medications, kidney diseases, or more serious conditions like bladder cancer, kidney tumors, or urinary tract cancers; even painless bleeding requires careful evaluation, and patients should consult a urologist who may perform urine analysis, ultrasound, CT scan, or cystoscopy, with high-risk groups (over 40, smokers, recurrent bleeding) needing especially careful assessment, as early diagnosis can be life-saving.

Blood in Urine? 7 Serious Causes You Should Never Ignore? Warning Signs & When to See a Doctor?
Added:[music] [music] >> Hello friends. I am Dr. Cüneyt Sevinç, a urology doctor based in Istanbul, Turkey. So, today's subject is what does blood in the urine mean and what should the patients do? So, blood in the urine, seeing red, pink, or tea colored urine can be frightening.
Some patients experience it once and wait for it to pass, while others may ignore it completely. However, blood in the urine, also called hematuria, should always be properly evaluated. There can be many different causes. A simple urinary tract infection may lead to bleeding. Kidney stones, enlarged prostate, intense exercise, certain medications, or kidney diseases can also cause blood in the urine. But sometimes, the underlying cause may be more serious. Bladder cancer, kidney tumors, or other urinary tract cancers may first present with a bleeding in the urine. I especially want to emphasize this point.
Even painless bleeding is important. In fact, painless bleed blood in the urine sometimes requires even more careful evaluation. So, what should patients do?
First of all, don't panic, but also do not ignore it by thinking it will probably go away. You should consult a urologist. This evaluation may include urine analysis, urine culture, ultrasound imaging, CT scan if necessary, and in some patient, cystoscopy, which allows us to examine the bladder with a small camera.
Patients over the age of 40, smokers, or people with recurrent bleeding should be evaluated especially carefully. Some patients think the bleeding stopped, so the problem must must be gone, but remember, the disappearance of bleeding does not always mean the underlying cause has resolved. Early diagnosis can be life-saving in many diseases. If you have experienced blood in your urine, please do not ignore it and make sure to get evaluated. If you would like to have a professional advice regarding this or similar conditions, you may contact us to schedule a 30-minutes online consultation appointment. We wish you health in the days ahead. Thank you very much for listening.
