Bertolotti Syndrome is a condition affecting 4-8% of the population where the lowest lumbar vertebra (L4 or L5) forms an abnormal bony connection to the pelvis, locking the spine and causing chronic back pain that often goes misdiagnosed; patients typically feel a constant 'locked' sensation and need to 'pop' their back for relief.

Why you constantly feel the need to "pop" your lower back.
Added:Have you been suffering from years of back pain, 5 years, 10 years of back pain, and you were told nothing is wrong? Well, you could be having a condition called Bertolotti.
4 to 8% of the population has this. What is Bertolotti?
Well, Bertolotti, if this is your spine here, this is the lumbar spine. We have five lumbar vertebrae. These are your discs. The last segment here usually, which is usually the fifth lumbar, or it could be the fourth lumbar, depending the transverse process here has an abnormal articulation that the bone grows basically and comes connects all the way to your pelvis, your sacrum, or your ilium, the pelvic bone here. You could have it on one side. You could have it on both sides. That is what's called the Bertolotti. Now, sometimes it forms a pseudo joint, which can become arthritic, severe source of the pain.
Sometimes it's a big hunk of bone here.
It could be joint on one side, both.
They could There's so many variations.
The point is spine is supposed to be mobile here.
It's supposed to be mobile. When it's locked, especially on one side, is probably the reason why you have so many symptoms. You feel like you're locked.
You feel that you have to constantly pop your uh back, basically. This is a common cause that gets missed a lot. So, this is something I recommend looking into it if you have this Bertolotti potentially, definitely a cause of unknown back pain and untreated back pain.
