This integration of optical and radar sensors on a single platform is a sophisticated engineering feat that effectively solves the trade-off between resolution and all-weather reliability. It demonstrates how student-led innovation is now capable of disrupting high-stakes aerospace sectors traditionally dominated by state giants.

IIT students built one of the world's most advanced satellites in India. #news #space #isro #india本站添加:
Five students from IIT Madras just built something very few satellites in history have ever attempted. And while the whole country was getting ready for the election results, this was quietly happening in the space. On May 3rd, a startup called GalaxEye, built out of a college campus in Chennai, launched mission Drishti into space. 190 kg built entirely in Bengaluru, India's largest ever privately built satellite. Launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from California.
Most satellites today do one of the two things. They either capture higher resolution images, but fails in clouds and darkness. Or they see through clouds using radar, but the images are harder to interpret. That's why even agencies like NASA and ESA often rely on multiple systems. And mission Drishti is trying to change that. It combines both optical and radar imaging on a single satellite, one of the first ever satellite to do this. Which means seeing clearly through clouds, through rain, even at night. And in a country like India, where monsoon decides everything, this really matters.
Five students, one idea, five years. And a reminder that some of the biggest breakthroughs start in classrooms. Made in India, first in the world. So, what else are we capable of that we don't even know yet?
