This video documents a payment dispute between developer Virgue and the AOTR project team, where Virgue completed a website for €5,000 but was not paid despite working for multiple days and providing detailed documentation of his work. The case highlights critical lessons for developers: always formalize agreements with written contracts, establish clear payment terms before starting work, and understand that verbal or implied agreements can lead to disputes. The situation also demonstrates how developers can face retaliation (being banned from servers) when exposing unfair treatment, and emphasizes the importance of protecting one's work and ensuring fair compensation through proper documentation and legal recourse when necessary.

Did AOTR Just Scam A Developer?! | AOTR Situation
Added:Yo, meet Verg. Ver is 19. Verg has a pregnant girlfriend. Ver made a website for EVO, the AOTR main dev. Ver did not get paid. Ver is still awaiting payment.
Ver is not happy. Ver contacted me to make this video. Shout out to Verg. All right, so uh this all started when I got a DM from Verg on the 11 saying, "You should cover the situation on your channel." So he sent me the link to his Twitter. So I'm like, "Okay, let me see what this is about." This [ __ ] is titled the AOTR files. I completed a website for the Attack on Titan Revolution AOTR project and ended up not being paid. I'm posting this to show my side clearly with receipts and to warn to warn other devs to be aware of owner EVO. Now, this started as a paid commercial. So, basically what this is all about is this guy Ver worked on a website in a group chat with all the AOTR devs. And what happened was they added him so he could create a website for them for the AOTR project. obviously, and his quote was $5,000 for the project. They did not dispute this while he was working on it, and they actively told him what they wanted while he was working on it. So, they're giving him ideas. They're telling him what to fix, what to change.
Like, they were telling him basically, they're basically crafting it, but they never specifically agreed on an amount, nor did they sign a contract. So what ended up happening was when they didn't want to pay the amount that Verg was telling them to pay $5,000 and eventually he changed it to a€,000 oh sorry it's euros €1,000 they still refused to pay him for the work he had done which take which took him days on days on days and for background context he currently has a pregnant girlfriend he's 19 years old and he needs this money to support his his family basically and what happened was like I said they did not pay him for the work that he had done despite the fact they knew he was working on this for them and that realistically they should have paid him for this work.
Now I know technically he didn't get well it depends on your definition of scam really because they never specifically agreed to pay him the amount he was asking for. But they basically it was implied the whole time.
Like it was it's it's dirty work basically. It's not it's not cleancut.
It's not you would have to wash your hands of this honestly. and they banned him from the server for leaking and did not get pay him his money. So let's let's let's see. I was added into an AOT website group chat introduced to the team and asked to work on a site around values, trades, calculators, graphs, admin tools, and related systems. First, the group chat. I was added into the group chat and the project was being discussed as an active website. Okay, let me remove this active website production. This was not me randomly making something for fun or giving casual advice. So if I go and I've already read most of this or if not all of it.
So, he was added right here. You can see. Yeah, of course I can. Are you guys okay with waiting a bit though as I'm current Oh, this is when he literally just joined. Sorry.
Yo, this is fire. So, this is when he already started working on it. They already knew he was working on it. And then they're telling him stuff to add to change. I'll show you right here with the honestly still not a fan of the intro part. I'd rather see it fade straight into this and then to show this part right here. So, they know he's actively working on this. They know that in Verg's eyes, he assumes that he's going to be paid for the work he's doing and that by the time he finish his website, he will be paid handsomely. That did not happen. He still has not been paid as of me making this video. That's why he reached out to me to, you know, make the video. But go a little further. I can give an option incognito mode for staff that don't want to be seen, but I suppose that poses a thought to management on that. To be honest, I don't really care if I'm seen or not, but like I don't think we should be seen. I feel like it's fine if only staff can see who made the changes. So, they're giving their input. Hello everyone. The live website test link is now available for preview.
Please take some time to explore. I don't know why they thought there there's no way from their point of view they thought they weren't going to be at least I feel like okay, let me let me backtrack. I feel like if I was in break situation, I would have at least had a down payment on what I was doing. But honestly, there was no way to tell this is going to happen. I mean, he said at one point he figured this might happen.
He tried to find ways to go around this, but you'll see when the lawyers get involved.
Yes, lawyers got involved. In the group chat, I was actively showing progress, taking feedback, and developing around what was being requested. The work included the value size, trading tools, calculators, graphs, UI, backend, admin systems, and related functionality. Now, I hope I don't get banned for this from the server because leaking, which is the reason they banned him. But honestly, I'm not active in the server. But it'd still be odd if they banned me for this.
But this is literally what I just showed you. There were feature there were feature discussions while I was working too. I also posted development updates showing what had been made that included backend work, UI changes, admin tools, database integration, graph history systems, mobile fixes, and a project update log based on the actual work done.
I feel really bad for Berg. Like this guy got ganked basically. Like they swooped in, took his [ __ ] basic, well took his time, took his time and effort and kind of stomped all over it. Now, I'm not here to say the like I'm not definitively saying AOTR debts are scammers cuz I really don't care for your definition of scamming. Like, it's [ __ ] up what they did. And if I put it in the title, I don't really care. But let me see.
By the end, I have posted the live preview and said I was done working unless anyone had changes, suggestions, or feedback. At that point, those was completed from my side. Now, I would love now instead of getting banned from the server from doing this, I would love for somebody like from the team to respond to this and like make a video addressing this cuz that'd be perfect.
I'd love that. Uh, please don't attack me, I guess. Like, just be civil about that. But, I want this all to be resolved. I want Verg to get paid.
Oh, I'm lagg. Okay. Then the DMs for the depot. After the work was already completed, payment became the issue. I explained that this was no longer a normal quote comparison because the work had already been done. I also made it clear that if they didn't want the full handover, there still needed to be a fair comp compensation for the work completed up to the point. I had spent real working time developing the product based on discussion and requests. Now, here's where it gets interesting.
Hello, Eva. I hope you're doing well.
Since the project has progressed quite a lot now, I wanted to probably go over the payment side as we haven't really discussed it in detail yet beyond what was mentioned in the announcements [music] that there would be there would be pay. Okay, so they they confirmed there would be payment for this. The total project cost comes to €5,000. The price reflects the work required to build the site. No. Okay. No, he's just, you know, saying what went on. The price also accounts for the time spent multiple days designing, building, revisiting, testing, and polishing the site. You can also pause and read this if you want. I'm not going I just don't want to make the video too lengthy. But in short, the 5,000 euro total is based on the amount of custom fronted work backend database database development.
Admin tooling, testing, revisions, and future proof structure required to make this a usable and maintainable professional trading value site.
For ongoing work site, maintenance will be charged at €75 per month and larger feature additions between 150 to€,000 plus depending on how major the work is. To give some extra context, I work [music] more like a traditional web designer developer when pricing projects. I have a fairly large client base with my main focusing being game UI. [music] And if the price is not sat with you, I'm open to discussing and hearing your perspective. Of course, it doesn't have to be paid until you're happy with the product. Also, once the project is complete, I would really appreciate if you could forward anyone you know who may need professional website design or UI work over [music] to me. So, basically just saying, can you pay me?
I've also attached a full project update log that documents the work completed on the site so far. It includes the major features, systems, back end work, yada yada yada. Now, Evo responds, "Would the price also include all the code and you showing me how things are set up?" Yes, it will. I think the price is pretty fair for the shut up price. Would you also be open to signing a contract that goes over everything? Yes, I would be.
Also, hope this isn't too much to ask.
This is something I would normally account for as part of the project.
Okay. Would you be willing to cover the associated legal fees part of the payment due to the cost involved in receiving the funds? Approximately 27 3 27.5% is deducted throughout the process. So they don't cover the legal cost like taxes. Are you based in the UK? Yeah, seriously. That's insanely lucky. Me too. Oh, okay.
Let me know uh thoughts you have on this so far.
So that's that's the maintenance agreement. Hello Evo. I've reviewed the agreement and there are a few points I'd like to address my concern on before signing so it's fair for both sides.
mainly final source code, database access, documentation, and ownership transfer should happen after the repayment is made, not before. I'd also like the AI clause updated as modern development tools may be used for assistance to streamline. So, basically just saying his terms and conditions.
Will you send updated copy when that's done? Okay, no problem. Thank you.
A few days passed. Hello, all is done.
Hello, Evo.
Would you be okay with using revised version of the contract instead? I prefer to use mine. Let me know you want edited. Okay.
They're basically just going over what he wants to be liability cap pre-existing tools. What they want to be changed.
Okay.
We already agreed that transfers and whatever.
Sorry, my dog. We already agreed that transfers and whatever would happen only after I pay. This is fine. Any additional work in future can be agreed separately at the time. contractor already has all this already addressed.
This is fine. Uh I want to get to the part where he doesn't pay him ever. Someone approached me earlier today and showed me something they were working on. They are giving me a quote of €2,750 which I'm leaning into more compared to what we have on the table.
This is something you can match. They are being much more flexible in terms of related contract negotiations as well. I understand but I can't match €1,750.
basically saying he can't afford to do that, but the work is already completed.
You see the issue here?
Now, they should have gone over this ear. Like, I feel really bad, but I can't in my heart of hearts just go out and call Evo a scammer, but it is pretty [ __ ] up what's going on here. Like, it's it's unlucky. That's that's what's going on. It's unlucky.
So, don't Oh my god. Do not do not go attack anybody from this on either sides. This is purely just to show y'all what's going on to because Ver asked me to. Okay? So, don't attack Evo. Don't attack Ek. Don't attack Donnie. Don't attack don't attack anybody you see in this video. All right?
So, they're arguing about this, that, and third. Basically, the price the price is the issue here.
It's not about trying to devalue the work you've done or negotiate after the fact that because [music] any before any agreement was finalized, I was presented with alternatives that made me reconsider whether proceeding at 5,000 was the right decision. This is why I messaged you in a good fit to see if you could lower the price. [music] See here, basically what I said, nothing was signed, so he's not obligated to do anything, [music] but I feel like he should pay at least half [music] at least half of the 5,000, which is the 2,250.
But business is business, I guess.
All right, next part. I tried to find practical ways to resolve it because I was worried I might end up unpaid. That included discussing split payment options like paying part now and the rest later.
I saw this part already. [music] Uh I get that from my side. The issue is the timing. If this happened before I started or before the site was completed, I'd understand it was as a normal code comparison, but I was actively working when we were discussing discussing the 5,000 and the site has not been completed based on that expectation. So, even if you were considering the full 5,000 euro deal, there still needs to be compensation for the work already done. I can't treat this like no work happened just because any another option came up before the contract was signed. I'm not saying you must in bad faith, but I also can't be left with nothing after completing the project. I won't go any lower than €4,000.
[music] There's one alternative I'd be open to though. If paying the full €5,000 now is the issue, you could pay €2,700€2,750 this month. And oh, by the way, guys, as you can see, I'm not being [ __ ] paid by Verg to make this video. He literally just asked me to make it and I'm making cuz I'm a good person. So, if you could I'm not calling him broke, but obviously if he just got yanked out of €5,000, he can't understand. Yeah.
Anyway, I'll discuss this with E and get back to you as soon as possible.
I also discussed a lower amount under specific conditions, but that was not me saying the work was only worth that.
That was me trying to find a compromise if the payment becomes uncertain. Hello blank [music] regards blank. Okay, I'm messaging I'm messaging again about the unpaid website development for AOTR. I was told this would be sort by the weekend, but that hasn't happened. So, I'm asking a clear update on where my payment is at.
Please arrange payment for the work within 14 days in this message or send me a proper written response explaining the position of what happened with the weekend. Can you move here? Thank you.
Hi, I've seen your message to be clear.
My position remains that no final contract was ever concluded between the parties. Throughout our discussions, key commercial and contractual terms were still under negotiation, never formally agreed.
Basically, he's saying he's not paying him.
That's not good.
Hold on. Hold on.
We wish to continue discussions regarding a mutually acceptable resolution.
He's saying he's not paying him €5,000.
I'm happy to do so professionally.
Otherwise, I believe it would be in my interest to allow you to communicate with my lawyer from now on. So, basically, he says he's not paying it and you can take it to court if you want to.
And like I said, you can always pause and read the full thing because I don't want the video to be too lengthy.
The response I got was that no final contract has been signed. The €5,000 amount was disputed and the final offer was €1,000. So divide that by five.
I don't believe 10,000 fairly reflects the scope time spent requested changes or work completed.
I understand your position, but I don't allow Okay. But I don't agree with how you present the 3,000 thing. That was not me saying the work was only worth that. That was me trying to find kind of compromise after it became clear there was a chance I might not get paid at all. how it seen from you. It was also under certain conditions, not just me randomly learning the value of the work.
From my side, the work was also I want you guys' opinion on how you feel about this. So, please drop that in the comments.
I don't accept €1,000 as fair compensation for the amount of work completed. I'm still willing to resolve this properly, but any offer needs to actually reflect the work done, the time spent, and the scope of the project.
When I pushed back and asked for fair compensation, I was told their lawyer had been informed and they would not be making any more comments. I've asked for lower details so this can be handled properly if that is the route they want to take but nothing has been done.
The contract drafts matter because they showed this was being treated as a commercial project. The draft named power interactive LTD as the client and reference a 5,000 GB GBP development fee for the website. To be clear honestly no final contract was signed. My position is that the work was requested. I carried out train requested over multiple days and the site was completed. I believe that work still has payable value but I got nothing. Uh, what is this?
Oh, wow. Okay.
The contract drafts were also heavily one-sided. A lot of the risk was being put on me as the developer while I was still being expected to do the work first and get paid at the end. No deposit, no milestones, broad obligations, and wording that left me exposed if things went wrong. That's why I pushed back on the contract terms. I wasn't being difficult. I was trying to avoid exactly what ended up happening.
Doing the work and then having to fight to get paid. This also has had a real personal impact. I have a pregnant girlfriend finally support and the eight days I spent on this real working days I expected to be paid for. That time came away from my household. Time I could have had with her and the other paid work I could have taken.
I'm not posting this to harass anyone, nor am I. I'm posting this because I left I was left unpaid for completing commercial work and because other devs need to protect themselves. I've sent a letter before claim and I'm pursuing this through the proper route. Nothing is done. Everyone, please be aware of this individual as this is not the first time situation like this has happened with them behind closed doors.
I'm not sure who else this happened to, but reach out to me if you want your story to be heard. Screenshots videos.
Screenshot videos are included for the contest. I'm keeping this one giving truly sizzy. I don't know who that is, but whatever. That is coming as [ __ ] Sorry for you. Are you going to pursue this legally?
And then if we go to his thing update on the AOT situation, Evo has since banned me for leaking to try to cover up his wrongdoings and still has not paid me any of the money he owes me.
The truth will be the truth will be led to light. So also wait, hold on. Update on the OTR situation, too. Apparently, it was actually one of the staff who banned me called Donnie, though it seems they are covering for EVO on his behalf as no explanation was given behind the reason leaking. I suppose telling the truth is what caused the issues in 2026.
And as you can see, he was banned from Antr Revolution.
Hopefully, this doesn't happen to me.
But um so they know about the situation.
They know about the Twitter forum, Twitter post, whatever. And if you want my opinion on it, it's pretty scummy, but it's once again, it's not illegal. It's not scamming. Don't tag these people. Well, eh, it's kind of scamming. Kind of.
It It depends on who you ask, but I wouldn't do anything like this. I hope nothing like this ever happens to me and I hope nothing like this ever happens to any of you. So stay safe out there, especially if you're a developer. And I just wanted to bring the situation to light. So thank you. Like and subscribe.
