Cross-Voting Hits INDIA Bloc As NDA-Backed Nathwani Wins Jharkhand Seat, ZPM Makes Rajya Sabha Debut

[00:00:03]Major political twist currently playing out in Jharkhand's Rajya Sabha election.

[00:00:07]This is the BJP-backed independent candidate Parimal Nathwani has secured victory. He's aided by suspected [music] cross-voting from within the ruling alliance camp. While the NDA officially had 28 votes, Nathwani secured 32 votes.

[00:00:23]Though two were later declared invalid, which goes on to bring the vote count to 30 now because the two were declared invalid. Now the final tally is standing at 30 and at least four legislators may have crossed the party lines. The CPIML has maintained that its two MLAs voted for the Congress-backed candidate, shifting the spotlight onto an alliance partner RJD and other left legislators as well. Uh but this is the big breaking input that we're bringing to you after what we've been seeing in terms of the kind of cracks that are emerging within the Indie block. The India alliance yet again emerging uh completely fractured.

[00:01:05]This after cross-voting has taken place in Jharkhand's Rajya Sabha election.

[00:01:10]Remember, we've seen uh several uh states go to the Rajya Sabha election and Pallavi's joining us on the broadcast to put this into perspective for us. So, Pallavi, shed more light on what this could mean in the ongoing sharply divided climate as far as the opposition is concerned.

[00:01:29]>> So, Akanksha, it potentially goes on to mean that the Congress is now being left with fewer and fewer friends and most of them are now begun to criticize the Congress party. The CPIML, for example, has already put up a social media post where they're squarely blaming the Congress party for having a very lackluster and no strategy. And if you're looking beyond Jharkhand, the real picture which emerges, Akanksha, is that Congress is one not being looked upon as a reliable ally or a friend. And second, they many of these friends and allies they begin to feel that Congress has now become a liability for them. So, who is the Congress left with now? In Tamil Nadu, they've locked out on DMK because they tied up with the TVK. Many see that as an unnatural alliance. We saw the up and the Congress wither away that alliance because up has blamed Congress for its campaigning aggressively in Delhi for their loss.

[00:02:19]Punjab, obviously, they're opponents. In Bihar, post elections, the RJD gave this feedback Congress was just sitting there. They were not doing any campaigning and that's a result of which they also lost out. Trinamool Congress is a convenience of alliance to the Mamata Banerjee needs the Congress party, Akanksha. Therefore, you see that alliance and actually the next one which is majorly under strain. They have been earlier, but now even more so is between the JMM and the Congress party.

[00:03:04]They're asserting that the voting outcome suggests [music] Congress may not have secured the support of its own MLAs in a strongly-worded statement that's come out from the the CPIML.

[00:03:14]They're say they're saying that larger parties should first look within before blaming allies and warned that attempts to shift responsibility are damaging both the parties' credibility and the image of the India alliance. Let's quickly take this forward with Pile.

If you look at Parimal Nathwani's numbers here, 28 secured votes from the NDA, but he got 32. Out of which the NDA NDA sources do tell me that two could be from CPI M and another two could be from RJD. No doubt whatsoever that RJD has also been a long-term partner as far as the Congress party is really concerned.

[00:04:06]So, before blaming the entire world and before blaming the BJP for running these horse-trading institutes, etc., there is a lot for the Indian for the India alliance to look from within. That's exactly what everybody's been saying that, you know, you look within yourself. See where you're lacking. Why is it that the Congress party is not acceptable to so many people? In the recent also, you've seen how the DMK has called out the Congress party. Multiple people have called out the Congress party. The RJD may have not gone on official record, but they do understand that the Congress let them down the garden path in the Bihar elections as well. That is something which is also there because the Congress party took took very important seats. That's the same grievance that the DMK really has and they say that we gave you the seat because of which you got five MLAs and now you're trying to teach us a lesson by joining the Vijayaled government as well. So, obviously, all is not well certainly as far as as far as the Congress party is really concerned in terms of the trust deficit you really see. From being somebody who's being blamed in Bengal recently to the fact that they they they kissed and made up made up in Delhi. Of course, Abhishek Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi's relation is no surprise to anybody else. Both on the and off the record, there's been very little respect that the two Gandhi that the that the two Banerjees have actually in fact showed towards Rahul Gandhi.
