The blind date park illustrates a poignant tension between individual autonomy and the lingering weight of traditional kinship structures in a modernizing society. It reduces human intimacy to a pragmatic market exchange, reflecting a collective anxiety over the erosion of traditional social safety nets.

Blind date in the park in China. The resume's are posted on cards
Added:Watch this video end to end and let me know what's the situation in USA. It's so hard and strict, especially for over 25 years older woman. Most of the situation Chinese woman will get married before 30 years old. If you still single over 30 years old, people going to call you a leftover. In Chinese we say shèngnǚ.
So, shèngnǚ is from your family members.
For me, I'm kind of like leftover, right? And they're going to ask me, "Why are you still single? What's the problem with you? And that because there is no any man wants you?"
>> What's the problem with you?
>> Second part is from your workplace.
Women age around 30, if you still single, and the company have to consider about if you are the right candidate because they are so scared of you going to get married or you're going to have kids you cannot concentrate on that job.
Example, me. Last year I was trying to find a job in China. They demand me and not get married in 3 years. I know that is ridiculous, but actually this is the real situation in China right now.
Who is over 27 years old and you haven't got If you're a woman who is over 27 years old and you haven't got married in China, then you'll be called the leftover woman.
For these group of women, that one thing that bothers them a lot is uh they would always be urged to get married, especially when they go meet their uh relatives or even their own parents, they would be urged like get married, hurry up, get married, find a good husband.
So, in China there are some cities in the parks we would have a blind date corner. So, what they do is the parents will print out their uh son or daughter's information on a piece of paper and just put in this blind date corner in the park. I will show you a picture.
>> with this blind date park corner look like? Hold on.
Let me see what it looks like.
>> Old school Tinder.
>> It is.
>> This is the real life Tinder.
>> Okay, so we're in Chengdu, China and we have found the marriage market in the People's Park in Chengdu. People literally come here and post either their child or you can post yourself.
And then you can post what you're looking for so you can find someone to marry. And there's like parents here with pictures of their kids and everything. Some of them are so specific like you have to be a certain height, you have to not be born in a certain year, you have to have certain qualifications. They know what they want.
I think the blue ones are all the boys ones and then coming up are all the pink ones which are the girls ones.
Few quite a few have been taken today.
Oh my god, it's double-sided.
>> in park in China. It's basically like real life Tinder. All day we went to a dating park in China. It's basically like real life Tinder. All of those pieces of paper are dating profiles with information about >> First of all, where she going with those flowers?
Becky, you're basically a grandmother over there. What are you What are you doing?
>> day we went to a dating park in China.
>> going?
>> It's basically like real life Tinder.
All of those pieces of paper are dating profiles with information about age, own properties, jobs, and citizenship status.
>> [music] >> Anybody's free to go and if you're interested some aunties will actually interview you. It's like a career fair for dating. And if you're willing to pay a little they can also give you access to everybody's files on their WeChat.
Right next to this park there was also a temple where you can basically ask the dating app for good luck. Would you go if >> Where are the flowers?
Who you give the flowers to?
>> [laughter] >> Who did she give the flowers to?
Somebody took her flowers.
This would be on the card if if if we he were doing that over here.
This would be on the card.
Big back with high blood pressure, broke, dead, living off the government, seeking a man making a hundred K or more, 5 ft 220 lbs looking for 6 ft 5 athlete.
>> [laughter] >> That would be posted in the park.
>> [laughter] >> Poor poor poor poor.
>> Look look, the this the these would be the cards, man. Multiple baby fathers, currently getting pounded out by Ray Rizzle, seeking big dummy to take her >> [laughter] >> kids.
Hey.
Put in the comment section black black man What's happening? Put [laughter] in the comment section.
What would be on those cards if they was doing that over there? I want to see what y'all put down.
Put it down >> [laughter] >> Put it down What would be on those cards?
Lee stands on business over there in China.
He stands on business.
When you look at Shengyu, right?
>> [laughter] >> Leftover women in China, that's not the majority.
It's not the majority at all. Is it a alarming portion? Yes.
But it's not the majority.
When you look at uh China as a whole, is still traditional.
That's why even when they come over here and gain you know, gain education, right? And they get married, they still traditional. You still see them taking care of the kids, you still see them taking care of the house, you still see them giving submission to their men, right?
And for the most part, that's how it is in China. But it's still alarming how it is with you know, with the leftover women. But but [snorts] this right here is how it usually goes in China. And I'm And And it's And you know what's what's funny, right? Is this is how things were done in in over here.
This how things were done over here with black families.
So this this way of what she's about to say, this way of doing things, this is not new.
It's just forgotten. You You know, it just doesn't happen no more for the black community.
Because there is no more black community. It's just a rat community.
But this used to happen when there was a black community. And I'mma show you what I'm talking about.
>> If you're to see if two people So the concept of xiang亲 or blind date in Chinese is better translated as almost an interview to see if two people are suited for marriage. And today my mom managed to trick me onto a full-on Chinese style blind date. Which is why I'm lying down because it was a lot.
So first of all, I'm a bit tired coming off of plane flying into Shanghai. My mom and I don't spend a lot of time in the same city, so I do try and spend time with her when I can. So, she tells me there's an Auntie Wong, she has a niece that needs some career advice, and she'd like to meet you. I'm like, "Sure, happy to do that." She's like, "Okay, we're going to go to lunch with her tomorrow." We first go to her apartment, and Auntie Wong tells me, "My cousin's just popping by soon. I've just renovated my apartment, so they would like to look at the renovation work."
Um and so, her cousin and her cousin's husband, their son arrives, and they're like looking at the renovation, looking at the shelves in the kitchen. At some [snorts] point, I do realize that something is going on because the conversation becomes, "How old is your daughter? Oh, perfect. Our son is just a little bit older than her." And they're talking about our work backgrounds, the fact that, you know, we both have studied outside of China. So, he studied in Japan and then Spain.
At some point, Auntie Wong is like, "Oh, well, since we're all here, let's just all go to lunch together." And we go to this restaurant, and the restaurant has a booking for seven people.
>> [snorts] >> Um and hilariously, um the way that this blind date basically worked out was that the two people on the date never talked to each other. We sat together next to each other at the restaurant. I talked to his dad, and he talked to my dad. And the three women, so my mom, his mom, and Auntie Wong, talked to each other for the entirety of the lunch.
And his dad told me that he's into fitness, and he has a six-pack coming in, and if I ever felt his arm, you know, it's it's quite muscular.
>> [laughter] >> I kind of understand because all the parents also really got along, and in terms of the cultural aspect of getting married in China is that it's not two individuals getting married, it's two families getting together. so I can totally see why this worked out. Other than the fact that we didn't talk to each other, he did get my contact. And my mom then proceeds for afterwards to ask me like, "Has he texted you? Has he texted you?" So, now if he does text me, even though I guess have no interest in each other, I would technically have to go on the date with him because of all the sort of like family introduction connections involved.
And if he doesn't, I have to now explain to my mom what ghosting is.
>> Now.
Now, remember I said that I made a video and I'm I'm I'm not I forgot what channel.
I I made it a few days ago how I think it was Oh, okay.
It's on this channel.
It's on uh talking about the uh the the church, talking about church.
Yeah, talking about church. Remember when I was talking about I forgot which video it was. I was talking about how families used to get together um you know, when it came to uh black families, how dating was, you know, they would invite uh that family over, you know, you know, if if if you wanted your son to get married or you wanted your daughter to get married, you would you whoever invited who over uh to dinner, they'll get to know the family, they'll get to know the the the the daughter and then then then that family will get to know the son. And after dinner, you know, they'll sit in the in the living room and they'll talk or they'll sit in the back in the in the backyard or wherever at and they'll talk and the family be on standby to see how the conversation see how the vibe is going between them, right?
And if it does work out, it's not just them two.
Meaning throughout their relationship, throughout their marriage, if they're having problems the families could get involved.
It wasn't just them.
If the if the if the marriage was in trouble, the family was in trouble. The families would say, "Wait a minute. We need to get together. We need to talk."
There wasn't no going to counseling.
There wasn't no going to therapy. The therapist was the family members.
That's why it's a scam. It's it's a straight-up scam. And it became more of a scam when you when family wasn't a part of these uh structures anymore.
Now you need outside help that don't know you at all. Don't know you, don't know nothing about you.
At least the family knew you. They know who you are, so you had to sit down. And if you didn't sit down with them, you sat down with the church who knew the people in the community.
So it wasn't no strangers, and you didn't have to come out of pocket.
The save of marriage right? From collapsing was a community thing.
So it was very important for uh for it was very important for family to be involved.
And you didn't just throw away a marriage because of something uh you know, like if if he was caught cheating, you didn't just throw that away.
You didn't just They didn't just say, "Oh, you know, uh he cheated, therefore I'm out of here."
No, why why what's going on? Why did he cheat? What what was the cheating What what what what was you search What was you searching for, son? What was you searching for besides your wife?
What's going on here?
Why you doing this? Why you doing that?
You see, I'm so sick of this Oh, he cheated. I'm so sick of it. I'm so sick of that. You know why? Because they cheat all the time. And even if it's not physical, they cheat with their time, they cheat with their energy, they cheat with with with giving everything else to other people, which is respect, but don't give it to their husband.
They'll literally listen to their boss more than they'll listen to their husband, and don't see anything wrong with it. Don't look at it as they're cheating. Oh, so since he cheated physically, right? That's worse than what you've been doing?
And I'm not saying condone cheating, but cheating wasn't a thing to get divorced over when the black community was around. Cheating wasn't a thing in any church to get divorced over. If the man cheated, right? He would have to go see the local church. Oh, yeah, there was shame involved.
There was shame involved.
The community would look look at him and be like, "Hey man, you need to straighten up."
But it wasn't no automatic divorce.
Wasn't an automatic divorce.
These women be talking about cheating, and they're on social media half naked.
You're married to a man, and you're on social media half naked, and you're mad about him cheating? You're cheating with social media. You're cheating with the world.
Everybody get to see what he sees.
You on social media looking for men's attention. That's not cheating?
You You You have besties that that that male besties. There's no such thing.
No such thing.
He's just waiting for an opportunity to knock that down.
You out there uh listening to your friends girls trip.
Sitting there with your friends who are not married talking about other men and talking about who they would take on a tizzy tour knowing you're a married woman, but they want you to participate cuz they don't like you being married.
I'm so sick of this cheating talk. I'm so sick of it. I'm really am sick of it.
Because every time you turn around the the number one thing to throw out Oh, he cheated. So what? So what? Fix it. Go and fix it. Go see why he cheated. What did you do?
Go fix it. What did you do?
The thing about men men if they looking elsewhere for something and and and the problem with men is they don't This is the real problem with men.
The problem is they don't initiate divorce.
They don't initiate divorce. They'll see something that their wife is doing and they'll see something wrong and they'll deal with it. They'll deal with the neglect. They'll deal with the disrespect and their way of coping with it is looking for something on the side.
Instead of saying, "You know what?
I'm not dealing with this no more. Hey, listen. sign these divorce papers. Let me get up out of here.
They don't initiate divorce enough.
So, they'll stick in that they'll stick with that relationship and instead of stick instead of bouncing, they'll they'll find something on the side that keep them, you know, sane.
If that even sound That may sound crazy, but they'll they'll keep that on the side to keep them sane.
So, they don't flip out. So, they don't wild out.
They have something to go to. They have something to resort to when their wife is just being disrespectful.
But, you know what stopped that? You know what helped that? You know what helped that type of trouble? You know what helped all of that? When families was involved.
Families was involved, you can easily go to the leaders, the church leaders. You can go to your fathers.
You can go to your mothers.
You say, "Hey, listen, I got this going on. I have that going on." And your mother and your father together as a unit and there and and her mother and and father together as a unit would try to figure what's going on and try to help that. And and for the most part, it worked.
They still have that over there.
Over here, it's done. It's gone. It's It's And who destroyed it? It wasn't black men.
See, black men was never kicked out of the homes. I I need I people to stop saying that. I debunked this so many years ago.
How were they kicked out of homes that they owned? I don't It don't make sense.
Kicked out of what? Keisha didn't own anything. What What are you talking about? How?
How?
They didn't own anything. What did What Kick them out of where?
How did they own homes?
Keisha didn't have a house. She didn't have a mortgage. She didn't have She didn't even have a credit card. What What did Where is this kicking them out of the house come from?
No, they didn't kick them out the homes.
Black men, they got up and left the black communities that black men had built. They left.
Literally got up and left.
And you know where they went?
They went to the slums.
Brad said, "Pack your bags and move over here to the slums and you could be the head of the household over here in the projects."
You could wear the pants over here in these crumbled up neighborhoods.
You don't have to listen to him.
We'll give you housing. We'll give you food stamps. We'll give you a stipend for now.
And they left the communities that black men had built. Black men came back from work, went home, went into their house, opened up, you know, put the key in the door, opened it up, didn't hear anything. That's That was the first alarm. Didn't hear nothing.
Checked the rooms, checked the house, started panicking.
Called around.
I need you to understand what the first few days was like. Called around to see what was going on.
Only to find out probably on the second or third day that she totally bounced.
That she bounced.
She took the kids and bounced. He looked in the closet, clothes are gone.
Kids are gone.
And what came late What what came next?
Oh, now he has to go to court.
To see his own children.
This is what happened.
So, for the most part over there if they don't you know, that can be that can be um that can be uh a thing for China if they don't get it to get you know, if they you know, and then we talking about the women over there. If they don't get it together, they you know, it can that population of Shengnu will will grow.
But, this is a stark look into what's it what's what's it what's it going to look like over here? What's it what's it looking like over here? It's looking like that over here.
Why you think they're so angry?
Why you think they're so mad?
They haven't been this angry for anything since they had Keisha marching for them during the first wave.
During the first wave.
Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
They haven't been this angry since they found out black men received the right to vote over them.
They're getting more and more angry over here.
But, it's a realization for Becky. It's a realization for Maria.
Because they still have a chance.
Their numbers are not as bad as Keisha's.
They're just not.
They still have a chance to straighten up.
They still have a chance because for the most part, they still understand the importance of male authority when it comes to them, when it comes to their communities. They still understand that for the most part.
They still understand that. What it was 54% of Becky's voted for Trump?
They still understand the importance of male authority.
They understand that.
Maria understand that? Ling Ling understand that? They may have uh but you know, bouts of uh you know, uh rebellion here and there, but for the most part Nah, they're not giving up there, man. They're not They're not saying, "No, we don't need you." You don't see that. They're not saying, "I'm independent. I could I'm paying my own bills." You don't see that as as on a large scale from them. You only see that from one demographic, and that's the demographic that's doing the worst. That's doing bad. That's doing worse than all of them.
The demographic that's doing worst.
The demographic that's down bad is the demographic running around talking about they don't need no man. They're independent.
And it's ironic because you're doing terrible.
You need the most talking about you don't need this, you don't need that, but you're the one who needed the most.
You need everything the most.
Every time you turn around they need housing. They need They need health care. They They They They They need provisions.
They need food stamps. They need They need all this.
They need everything.
They need help with paying back loans.
They They need better job positions. It's like, "Wait a minute.
You don't need nobody, though. Why you asking for all this, but you don't need nothing?"
The ones with the least are saying they need the least is hilarious.
But anyway, salute to y'all. What do y'all think of this?
You know, it's it's funny watching this, seeing what's going on over there, right?
But, with watching them crash out over there, they're crashing out because Lee is standing on business.
Lee is really standing on business.
He has no problem telling them, "You're done."
And he tells them in the most brutal fashion.
And what what fashion is that? The truth.
Cuz we know the truth is brutal to women when they don't want to hear anything other than, "I'll accept it."
He tells them straight up. He doesn't sugarcoat it.
And for the most part, his community, his country supports it.
26, 27, ah, it's dark for you. That's all right.
How much you making? And here's another thing. Here's another thing that's not being talked about about over there.
Lee also look at how much they earn.
Lee looks at how much they earn. How much do How much money you have?
That's pretty low.
If you if you in debt, forget about it.
But you need to be making some money, too.
You need to have some money going on, too. You need to have some bread.
Yeah, Lee on it like that, too. Like, wait a minute, how How money you have?
Nah, that that going to cut it. You yeah, back to the streets.
>> [laughter] >> But anyway, salute. Peace.
>> Wash. Wash. Wash. Wash.
