Cleveland weather forecast: Tracking strong to severe storms for Tuesday

[00:00:03]>> Yeah, it's Anita where we have a quiet start to the day. We're going to keep our eye on the radar out towards the west though throughout the morning hours. You see Cleveland, the camera's starting to rock and roll a little bit.

[00:00:11]We've got a bit of a breeze this morning. Still dealing with some of that atmospheric haze from that smoke from the wildfires. Yeah, it's still prevalent in our air. Not too bad here this morning, but it is with us. Outside of that though, it's all about the storms today. We've got a severe storm threat today. We'll have waves of storms as we go throughout the day. So, this isn't kind of a one and done like we typically get get where we heat up and then the afternoon we get a round of storms and out of here. This will probably be a morning round is what we're looking at through about midday.

[00:00:40]We would catch a break and then we'd have more pop-up storms as we get into the afternoon, even on into the evening.

[00:00:45]All modes of severe weather possible today. Our atmosphere's going to be loaded, so just make sure you have a way to get your watches and warnings. We're at 73. It's a mild start. I mentioned yesterday that you'd wake up and you'd feel that humidity difference. Well, we've got it here this morning. Our dew points at 65 right now. And temperatures are still in the 60s out towards the east, 70s once you get towards the I-71 corridor out towards the west. Again, we're closest to the front in our western counties. The wind is picking up as well. That's blowing in higher dew point air, so it's getting more humid hour by hour. Tells you something's amiss. We go from comfortable humidity out east to uncomfortable humidity in the west. And again, all these numbers are going to be going up as there's lots of tropical humidity to tap into out ahead of this front. So, where's the front right now? It's back towards Chicago. We've got quite a while before it arrives. It really won't get here till late this evening into tonight. But out ahead of it, that's where our storm threat is. This is called the warm sector of a storm system, which has the front, the low, and the warm front off towards the north. And this is where you get all the active weather because you've got the humidity and you also have just the dynamics to support storms. We had a very stormy overnight.

[00:01:51]There were a lot of tornado reports up in areas of Wisconsin. All every Not everything, but most everything is coming to an end. It's kind of fizzling out. But, what we're seeing develop is this right here, back towards Indiana.

[00:02:03]And this is what I'm going to keep an eye on as we go throughout the morning shows into our stream from 7:00 to 9:00, as these storms will continue to gather steam, and they'll head our way so that by the fact or by the time we get towards the latter half of the morning here, we're going to be dealing with some storms of our own, and some of those could be on the strong to severe side. Storm Prediction Center says, "Yeah, Ohio and in the Ohio Valley, we're in the crosshairs for the best threat for severe weather today." We're thinking further southeast for the higher threat, but all of us are in the slight risk, which means severe storms are likely today. So, you can count on some pretty decent storms as we go throughout the day. We got our eye on the radar. Some storms back towards Toledo right now. Those are not severe, but again, our atmosphere is ready to go. So, we could see those go severe here in the next couple hours. Storm threat later this morning, midday, we've got it as well, and then we'll have pop-up storms all the way through the evening hours. We will get some good breaks in here as well. This isn't going to be an all-out washout today, but once we get this initial round out of here, that's when it becomes a little bit more popcorn-like this afternoon. I'll show you what I mean. This is the latest model run here. Your National Weather Service 1-hour by hour forecast bringing some morning convection into the Cleveland area. We'll see if that holds.

[00:03:09]I think this is that Indiana stuff. And then, our model's been pretty pretty locked into this solution. By 10:00 11:00, we're getting a decent line of storms in here. This would have a damaging wind risk with it as it moves out towards the east. We're now talking lunchtime, where we've got storms all across northeast Ohio. These will be strong to severe if this verifies with a line developing at noon. And then, that's out of here. We quiet down for a little bit, and then we'd have more pop-up storms around during the afternoon. The severe threat would be lower this afternoon with the severe storms because most of the energy will be sucked out of that atmosphere from that morning round, but still, we're dealing with some storms popping around the area all the way through 11:00 tonight. By tonight, the front goes through. This is tomorrow morning. Lake effect showers, clouds will be in the 50s and low 60s. Tomorrow is going to feel fall-like. We're only going to rise into the upper 60s in the afternoon tomorrow with a cool breeze off the lake. Heavy rain is certainly possible with any of these storms and we'll have to keep an eye on the Guards game, although the storms do look a lot more scattered at that time. Humidity comes way down Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

[00:04:13]This is going to be a delightful end to the week around here as this front kicks out, high pressure settles in. Our next shot at rain still arriving on Saturday with a few showers that look to sneak in here with some Gulf moisture. You need a mortgage Sunday forecast. Look at the drop. Upper 60s for a high tomorrow after a weather impact alert today. 70s and super comfortable on Thursday.
