[00:03:32]But, the past 2 days I've been helping Shane nonstop. So, my farm has been neglected because I've been trying to help Shane meet the quota.

[00:05:00]Like do you work and it's for fun? Like some people like to clean the house cuz it makes them feel good. They turn on music and they dance and they clean the house. Like do you work for fun?

[00:05:44]Probably makes no sense to anybody else, but it does to me. So, are you like that? Do you like to do something like maybe yard work? And it's fun to you because it's rewarding at the end because you have got a clean yard or maybe it's cut the grass and you scratch [laughter] your butt off listening [snorts] to music on pushing the lawn mower or riding lawn mower.

[00:07:16]Um it took Jill a long time when she came to me. She had bumblefoot. And she had surgery and it took her a long time to walk normal again.

[00:07:25]So, I I just feel like from my past experience that this is kind of normal uh for it to take a little bit of time to recover from bumblefoot when it comes to a goose or a duck. It's totally different.

[00:07:56]It just takes a while. Chickens bounce back pretty quickly, but geese and ducks You've been keeping the rats out?

[00:08:13]He's been up laying up in the air conditioning and in the in the education center, cuz he's rotten.

[00:08:31]Yesterday morning I went into my peacock enclosure and two of my baby peacocks that are not even a week old were dead.

[00:08:43]And I thought, what in the world happened?

[00:08:46]They can't be sick. They're not even old enough.

[00:08:49]And so, I went to the library, cuz I had to go to the library on Friday.

[00:08:54]I came home to come check on them and there was another one dead. So, out of six peachicks, three had already died within just a couple of days and I was devastated.

[00:09:08]So, all day long I I I my wheels were spinning. Are they sick? Like, what should I do? I like like I don't want the other three to die. So, what what has happened?

[00:09:18]So, this is what I did.

[00:09:20]I went and I went inside that peacock enclosure and I just sat.

[00:09:28]And I watched.

[00:09:30]I watched for dropped wings. I watched for sickness. I watched for predators. I just sat in that enclosure and just evaluated what the heck was going on because I needed to know why these babies were dying.

[00:09:44]Because there was a reason.

[00:09:47]And guess what I discovered.

[00:09:50]My violet hen which is the new purple hen that I just bought a couple of weeks ago was beating up the baby peachicks. She was killing them.

[00:10:09]So I I went to action. I immediately dove to get those babies. My net wasn't in the enclosure. I dove and picked up all three babies and I had to take them away from the mom because if I didn't, they were going to be dead.

[00:10:30]So I had to go take those three and take them inside the education center and the brooder. The mom was crying.

[00:10:39]The only thing that I can figured I did call a couple people that I know in the peacock era and I said, "What do you think this is?" And she said they were probably she was probably wanting to steal the babies from the mom.

[00:10:54]I don't know if that's the situation.

[00:10:57]I don't know, but I've never had this happen before. This is something totally new to my farm.

[00:11:04]Uh never seen another mom try to kill babies.

[00:11:10]>> [sighs] >> But I intervened because I thought and I sat in there for a long time until I figured out what was going on.

[00:11:19]So I will be hand-raising these next three peachicks in the brooder with the other peacocks.
