The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Iran and the United States, signed by President Trump, is widely criticized as a flawed diplomatic agreement that fails to achieve strategic objectives while providing significant concessions to Iran, including recognition of sovereignty, lifting of sanctions, $300 billion in reparations, and control over the Strait of Hormuz, without securing meaningful commitments on nuclear disarmament or regional security.

What is this Deal that is Ending the War in Iran? It looks like a mess by President Trump.
Added:How's everybody doing today? This is attorney Antonio Moore coming to you from Tone Talks. I wanted to have a discussion about the supposed truce deal in the Iran war, Trump's mess that he's actually created and talk about in more detail what was in the actualou between uh US and and Iran in more detail. I didn't talk about it yesterday because I thought what was going to happen is what seems to be happening which is will fall apart. It was way too Iran wins the war, US loses for the reality of the power dynamic between the two. I understand the straight of hormuz, but Iran was not even really being recognized and they went from not being recognized to basically defeating possibly the greatest like war power in the history of the world all by controlling a straight and it it just didn't add up and it still doesn't. Um, but now we're seeing that Israel is attacking. Um, and so this deal might fall apart. And in effect, also I always thought that the 60 days with the mines being in the actual straight would always lead to a such a delay that the only thing that we're saying is that Iran now can charge in the straight. We went through in detail how the pathway now does not go over the middle of the straight but actually goes over towards Iran and then they charge a toll and nothing about the system is set up to do that smoothly.
But the question today, what is this deal that is ending the war in Iran, it looks like a Trump mess. So for all everyone that's not following the news, not following hour by hour, I really believe you should. I don't believe that the average American understands the impact that this war can and will have on their life. We've talked extensively on this channel about how you should prepare yourself for all possibilities.
In no way am I hoping that anything happens, but you should really have cans. You should really have generators.
You should really have guns. You should really have your medicine in order. You should really have your family contacts in order. You should have a lot of things already. And if you don't, you are well behind the curve. In addition, you should be well informed about what's going on because this affects fertilizer, this affects oil, this affects jet fuel, this affects asphalt, this affects every gasoline in your car, every aspect of your life that uses energy.
So, right now, just a couple hours ago, Israel says it's continuing military strikes against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Iran said ships pass through the straight of are still required to coordinate with the revolutionary guards at Navy. Even after theou, this is just recent. But then even more recent, after the Israel attacks, Iran suspends the entire 60-day negotiation process with the US. Iran has halted its entire 60-day negotiation framework with the United States after accusing Washington of violating the first clause of the recently signed. So, I'm going to make this bigger so we can get right into the discussion and talk about it.
And again, just to be give context, what is this deal that is ending the war in Iran? It looks like a Trump mess.
So many of you that I believe in many ways were politically naive and politically not just just inept thought that you could vote for him without any impact. And no way do I believe that the Democrats did us favor by giving us Kamla without a primary.
She was not equipped. But in reality, this man may be the worst president in American history, and it might end up not being close. And if you voted for him, you set us on this path, especially if you voted on singular issues. you just voted based on immigration or you just voted based on your feeling or you just voted to be uh a contrarian. Whatever you did to vote for this man, you have set us back. Trump's war with Iran has been a tragic and expensive waste of time. Donald Trump has signed a memorandum of understanding aiming at ending the war with Iran. This is from yesterday. Now again, I didn't do a show yesterday because I wanted to let it develop because I had shared messages with my internal circle basically telling them that I believe this is gonna fall apart. The deal was didn't make any sense to me. Um it seemed like it was something setting up for us really not to have a 60-day layout because there's mines in the straight.
They mine the straight. So it'll take quite a bit of time. And also ultimately you if Israel isn't on board, you don't have a deal. So, I don't know if the the whole context was to set it up to ex show that Israel is going to be the hand that forces this war to go into uh possible boots on the ground or what was the case. But this in and of itself, the text of thisou that I'm going to read to you made no sense to me yesterday. It makes no sense to me today and for you it should make no sense going forward and we're seeing it fall apart. Donald Trump has signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war with Iran. The White House made the announcement on Wednesday night and Iran's foreign minister confirmed his side too has signed the document. In covering Trump, the past days has been one of the wildest. The meandering and staggeringly contradictory news conference and the trumpeting of a deal that amounts to something so far short of that. And then just as the day ended, we were told that Trump had signed the deal, which added to the bewilderment because an administration official told us on Monday that Trump had signed a deal on Sunday. autopin. He spent every week bashing Biden about by autopin. So the deal which was signed on Sunday was signed again in Versailles on Wednesday and is still due to be signed in person by the vice president on Friday. There's been a breathtaking level of lopsided diplomacy. It's been truly bewildering.
The other leaders can't criticize. They know the wrath that will hit them then.
But we know that they know it's been a disastrous shamble. It's a it's truly a shame and a stain on America. This is in my view worse than Vietnam.
In many experts view much worse than Vietnam.
as it stands for this president to go out and trump it a deal that gives Iran recognition of them as a country, gives them uh lifting of sanctions, gives them no deal on on on getting the the nuclear uh materials, gives them uh reparative justice that even American slaves, slave descendants have never received in this country.
that gives them the the the money to build up their their uh military and possibly fight us in the future and in addition allows them to charge a toll in the straight. I have no idea how this man thought it was okay to bring this out. But we're here now and it looks like it's falling apart because it wasn't a deal. It was a concession if anything. It's truly a sham and a stain on America. Often it takes a while for the dust to settle on on mad war choices. Not this time. We knew before this war began. So many school children died in Manav. For what? Trump couldn't even admit that the strike was America's mistake.
Again, Trump's war with Iran was been a tragic and expensive waste of time.
We're talking about what is this deal that is ending the war in Iran. It looks like a Trump mess. I want to play a clip for you just to give you context of what we're talking about. colleague, Republican Senator Bill Cassidy, said this is the worst foreign policy blunder in decades. Um the I mean, do you agree with him?
>> Well, he's right in that this entire war is the worst foreign policy blunder of the last 20 years. And this deal is just evidence of that. I mean, this is an insane deal. And while there might be confusion over when it was signed or executed, there's not a lot of confusion about what the deal is. Y >> it's a multi-billion dollar payoff to Iran in exchange for nothing.
>> So this was Aaron Bernett. CNN humiliation. Democratic Senator Chris Murphy says Trump's agreement with Iran proves the entire war is the worst foreign policy blunder of the last 20 years. And I think we can even go further, possibly even 50.
Um, Susan Rice said, "This is a jaw-dropping, horrific surrender document complete with hundreds of billions in reparations. It's the predictable result of incompetent negotiation and the full hardly strategic catastrophe of starting and pursuing this disastrous war. The US will not soon recover from this, the biggest national security blunder in decades."
And she's not the only one that has been scathing in her review of this. You truly have a clown running our country in my view.
I I I just don't understand how we got here. The president doesn't seem to grasp much basic economics. Thankfully, his new Fed chair committed to he wanted to cut the rates and we can't cut the rates because your war has made that impossible along with your tariffs.
It makes the economy run hot. So, you cannot cut the rates when the economy is running hot and inflation's running hot.
Thankfully, his new Fed chair committed to fighting the inflationhitting consumers since the war. If Trump's angry about higher rates, he has no one to blame but himself, Steven Rner. This is him signing the memorandum of understanding with Rubio behind him.
Senator Alex Padilla said this. Theou represents a complete US surrender and leaves Iran in a better strategic position than when Trump started this illconceived war. This is not the deal Trump promised. In fact, it's not a deal at all. It simply reopens the straight that was open before, lifts sanctions on Iran, and hands the regime $300 billion.
But it doesn't open the straight. It actually just gives you 60 days. And during those 60 days, you won't even be able to use the straight because the uncertainty will mean that the insurers don't want to send the shifts. So you might not get but 10, five of those days. In addition, you got to clear minds to even use the straight. And many people are going to use the path that goes. None of this made any sense because now Iran gets to charge a toll.
So just call it what it is. It partially opens the straight in favor of Iran.
After sparking a regional war, threatening to destroy an entire country, spending tens of billions of taxpayer dollars, damaging our economy, and sending Americans into harm's way, Trump's big breakthrough is an agreement that is weaker than President Obama's 2015 deal that Trump ripped up.
President J. Donald Trump signs Donald President Donald J. Trump signs the Iran Memorandum of Understanding, Peace through Strength.
So here's the actual text. I'm going to try to read some of it just to give you context. It is heavily in favor of Iran.
Islamabad memorandum of understanding between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America have jointly agreed in good faith on dot dot dot 2026 at da da da on the following. the Islamic number one, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America and their allies in the current war by signing theou declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts including in Lebanon and this is the key because Israel has not signed on to this thing and they are attacking in Lebanon when today let's go back and look at that just in Israel says it's continuing military strikes against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon two hours ago which led to Iran suspended the entire 60-day negotiation, the one that Trump has trumpeted and walked around that gave America nothing and gave Iran everything and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operations against each other and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other and ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final deal would confirm the permanent termination of of the war on all fronts including in Lebanon and other provisions of this paragraph. So Trump did not have the power nor the relationship ties with Israel to ensure this statement. So thisou was dead on arrival and that's in number one. Number two, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America undertake to respect each other's sovereignty. So we we have to understand that we were not recognizing Iran's sovereignty. So now in section two, we are recognizing their sovereignty, lifting sanctions, making them a full player in the international world, giving them the power to control one of the most powerful straits in the world.
Also that if they go to war with us again in the future, they'll be fully equipped with the money that we gave them. the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America under At what point should they be on the same level with us undertake to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and to refrain from interfering in each other's eternal internal affairs? I want everybody to understand because I was talking to an Iranian attorney that I know. There are a lot of Iranians that stood out because of Trump's words and now are in major danger.
There are a lot of Iranians that are against the regime that's in place right now. What Trump has done is had them stand up and then basically ran away when they stood up.
And now he's recognizing that Iran can just take care of their own affairs. Who do you think will stand up with us in the future?
The number three, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America commit to negotiating achieving the final deal in maximum 60 days extendable with mutual consent. Number four, immediately upon the sign of this MOU, the United States of America will begin the removal of its naval blockade and any disturbances or impediment impediments against the Islamic Republic of Iran and will fully end the naval blockade within 30 days. I'm not going to read the rest of this one. Number five, upon the signing of theou, the Islamic Republic of Iran will make arrangements using its best efforts for the safe passage best efforts. As an attorney, and I'm not giving legal advice, I don't want to hear nothing about best efforts. That is some vague language that allows people to circumvent their responsibility to make sure to clear their minds to open up the fastways pathways to make sure that these ships safely get where they supposed to get through that straight.
Best efforts for the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge for 60 days only from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa. the traffic of commercial vessels will immediately start and understand that the MLOU was signed and nothing started nearly nothing and considering the need for removal removing the technical and military obstacles and demining by the Islamic Republic of Iran. I don't agree with anything in this deal, but just from a structural standpoint, there's no way this 60 days should even start until we have both verified that the minds are clear. But there shouldn't even be a 60 days. This is one of the worst negotiated deals I've ever seen. The text of this from best efforts to uh to so many other elements here are just is just problematic and it has to have you ask what law school did these people go to?
Speaking as a lawyer, the traffic of commercial vessels will immediately start in consider and considering the need for removing the technical and military obstacles and demining of by the Islamic Republic of Iran will be instated with instated within 30 days the Islamic Republic. So so so it sounds like they given the 60-day no charge but already know that we're not going to start that till 30 days. So really it's 30 days. The Islamic Republic of Iran will conduct dialogue with the sultenate of Aman to define the future administration and maritime services in the straight of Hammuz.
I'm going go down some more. The United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive mutual agree plan with at least so it could be more and I've seen 450 billion 300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of Islamic Republic of Iran. I say this today on Junth as one of the co-founders of the American descended slavery movement that led to the reparative justice discussion here in this nation.
America has not paid reparations to the American descendants of slavery for the slavery, the multiple generational slavery of [ __ ] black Americans. And here we are paying reparations to Iran for closing the straight and going to war with us. In what world should an I a country of Iran get reparations before a descendant of American slavery?
Make that make sense.
Let me read some more of this. Number seven, the United States of America undertakes to terminate all types of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Coming down. Number eight. So we going to get rid of the sanctions.
The sanctions are a protection for the whole region against the tyranny the the issues that Iran has created and creates for the region. Number eight, the Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms that it shall not pressure procure or develop nuclear weapons. We don't need none of that. We need you to give us the the nuclear materials. We don't want to hear that you say you will not. I don't know how that this was allowed as the Islamic Republic of Iran and United States of America have agreed to resolve the disposition of stockpiled and rich material pursuant to a mechanism that we mutually agreed upon in accordance with the schedule mentioned in. So their delivery of anything is down the line.
Our delivery of our commitments is at execution. No attacks in Lebanon, $300 billion, maybe even $450 billion. you get to control straight and charge more money.
How does this make sense? How does this make sense for America given our our lethal weapon powers? And I understand Trump with his four weeks and of reserves. Well, then you should have went earlier cuz once you put your foot in, that means you got to go. And if you didn't have a stomach to go, then you never should have went down there and started this war. Because now what we're using is is is is the calamity as an excuse to sign a bad deal.
The United States of America undertakes the immediately upon signing of this MLOU and until the termination of sanctions, the US Department of Treasury will will issue waiverss for the export of the of Iranian crude oil.
Number 11. The United States of America undertakes to make fully available for use the frozen and restricted assets of Islamic Republic of Iran upon the implementmentation of theou. The Islamic number 12 the Islamic Republic of Iran and I'm skipping through some and the United States of America agreed that the executive mechanisms will be established to monitor the successful implement implementation of thisou in the future compliance of the final deal. This is wild.
This whole deal is just nonsensical in every way. And that's why I said when it was signed before they released the details that none of this made any sense and that we probably going to war.
I don't know how we got Trump. I don't know how we got Vance. I don't know how we got Rubio. And I don't know how we got you if you voted for Trump.
We are at a point where this man is set to give away the piggy bank for nothing to Iran, a country that we already had in a deal that had the strait being able to be traversed for free before he messed up the deal. What is this deal that is ending the war in Iran? It looks like a Trump mess.
So, I just read the actual specifics of it and I don't understand at all what's what's going on here. Haha. The $300 billion in reparations. Again, we have not paid reparations to American descendants of slavery, but we are paying it to Iran for going to war with us and causing calamity across the globe. So much for your doge checks. For those keeping score in the home game, Trump cost the country $500 million a day in elevated gas prices. went through seven years of ammunition stockpile, spent $13 billion, got 15 soldiers killed for to give Iran $300 billion and control of the straight of her age like milk in the straight of Hermoose son. So what did you remember this back back on March 6? This is what Trump sold us as the population as the people of America.
There will be no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender. After that and the selection of a great, acceptable leader, we and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction. So, we went from that to a MOU in which Iran got everything that they wanted without ever having to actually go to war.
Can somebody make it make sense?
Please make it make sense.
The only way I can make it make sense is that we're going to do this knowing that we can't commit to number one. What is number one? We that's why I wanted to go through this. We cannot commit to in permanent termination of the war on all fronts including in Lebanon and knowing that once Israel does that all of this will be ripped up and we are going to war and it just will be on Israel and that's the framing in which case that is a backwards way to get to the same place that you needed to go to. Anyway, Iran. So, so they put out a the the White House when I say they put out a a a image claiming victory. Iran memorandum understanding is a win for America. Oil prices plummet. Trump's strength brought Iran to the table. Fighting ends on there's no there's nothing brought to the table. There's no table.
This is not a table. We I just read the memorandum. Iran still has their enrich uranium. Iran still has ballistic missile programs. Iran sanctions are being lifted. Iran still has a nuclear program. Iran still threatening to attack Israel. Iran controls the straight of Hermuz. US lost 13 service members. This is not a win.
Mr. President Trump's war accomplished nothing. The Iran deal is proof by Kenneth Roth of the Guardian. No one gets a Nobel Peace Prize for ending a war he started, let alone for a pointless war of aggression that set back the causes that supposedly prompted the conflict. No amount of Donald Trump's spin can obscure the fact that his newlyannounced deal with Iran is one big lesson in why this war should have never been launched. The text of the deal, which I read to you earlier, a 14-point memorandum of understanding, underscores its emptiness. The tyrants of Thran are undoubtedly celebrating.
Trump's political challenges to show that his deal is better than the one negotiated by Barack Obama in 2015 and abandoned by Trump in 2018. That that Trump bombing produced a result superior to Obama's diplomacy. The problem for Trump is that it didn't. He did worse.
Trump will probably spotlight two supposed victories. First, Iran reiterates that will never produce nuclear weapons, but it made that pledge in the Obama accord many times since then. The key issue is whether the steps that could lead to a nuclear weapon are curtailed. To that end, Obama's imposed severe restrictions on Iran's nuclear program. Trump can only hope to secure limitations during negotiations that are supposed to be concluded over the next 60 days. But such complex issues are unlikely to be settled so quickly, and the deal allows for the deadline to be extended by mutual consent. The deal says only that in a final accord, such issues will resolve by mutual agreement, hardly an airtight commitment. Trump will tie sanctions belief to Iranian concessions on these points, but that could have been accomplished through diplomacy without resulting a war.
Second, Trump will highlight that Iran has agreed to reopen straight of her moves where its restrictions on movement of about 20% of the world's oil and gas led to a galloping prices and a surge in worldwide inflation. But Iran only closed the straight once Trump initiated his war choice. Now tan sees the power of his of the new weapon. The genie is out of the bottle and will not easily be lured back. And we might see other countries that control straits, maybe not as powerful a straight because it's not 20% of the energy, but straits that are necessary to traverse the world do the same. What Trump has done has created a a a a wave that is so detrimental that we might not feel the impact until we fully see the picture.
I mean, just dealing with what we're seeing on the straight, we have impacts on fertilizer, we have impacts on gasoline, we have impacts on jet fuel, we have impacts on everything that uses these things.
And that's regardless of whether they come to a deal. And that's why I tell you guys and I've told you guys, you need to be more prepared than you possibly are. This is not a game. This is not a time to not understand the news. I know you love the Knicks and the and the Spurs and the World Cup. We are in a moment where where they are shifting eyeballs from Epstein to this and you are watching the damn soccer balls or or or or the basketball championship and clapping. What are we supposed to do? Not celebrate.
I know. I know that when when stuff gets hard, just make sure you say that stuff to your your yourself again. when you go to the store and there's no more cans and you didn't get no cans because you was celebrating.
Trump announced that the straight would be permanently tollfree, but the published deal doesn't say that. And Iranian officials have maintained the right to impose fees for unspecified services, which might mean no more than the service of not firing on boats passing through Trump's war has left global commerce worse off. The deal is noteworthy for what it does not include.
There's nothing on Iran's ballistic missile program. Nothing on Iran's military support for regional allies such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. Nothing on regime change in Tyran. Again, he promised us there will be no deal within with Iran except unconditional surrender. Does this sound like unconditional surrender?
After that, and the selection of a great and acceptable leader, we and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners will work to bring Iran back from the brink of destru uh destruction.
Huh?
Huh? Selection of a great and acceptable leader. So, we going to get regime change. We didn't get that.
Then in addition, as I said earlier, there are Iranian people that stood with us. The real cost is not to the United States. It's to the Iranian people because Trump said help is on the way.
and help was not on the way. And now this deal deal would enshrine the Iranian regime for a generation with American support and cooperation and send a message to all the people all over the world who are brave enough to stand up to their dictators and despots that when America says help is on the way that doesn't mean anything.
And that's the real cost of this is that we've promised the Iranian people that we care about their lives and now we are throwing away throwing them to the wolves. No matter what happens with the 300 billion or the straight home moves, those people will have to wait another several years before they get another chance at dignity.
Come on, dude. That's all that we seeing right now.
That's his reflection.
In addition, Israel publishes map extending it security zone 10 kilometers inside Lebanese territory. That is an act of aggression to let them know we are not for any of this memorandum.
understand it and that we will be attacking and that Trump cannot make promises that he cannot keep in the first line of that memorandum. So just be prepared to rip it up. That's what that's saying. I allow myself an hour to feel somewhat hopeful that we were getting out of this M East mess. Then I see this. We're never getting out.
Brandon Ward again. What is this deal ending the war in Iran?
It looks like a Trump mess.
And I have to say, it's not just a mess for Trump. It's a mess for all of us.
And we all are going to deal with the impact. And I'm just saying the main thing you can do for yourself, for your family, for your community, for your neighborhood is to be informed. Don't allow all kind of non, you know, I guess the World Cup and the Don't allow any of that to be a justification for why you're not aware of the news. If you going to watch some of that, watch just as much news. Let me just at least give you that. If you going to watch uh 45 minutes of the game, I want you to spend 45 minutes in the news on Twitter, not on Instagram, on Twitter and X, looking at uh economists, looking at at at political scientists, looking at the news from CNN, BBC, different sources, and figuring out what's going on around you. If you did not build yourself to know what's going on around you, you did not build the right person for the moment. And this moment is unforgiving.
