“Not One Democrat Has Leapt to Gavin Newsom’s Defense” Against the Federal Investigation of His Wife

[00:01:00]So first he asked Gavin Newsom about the day and you know the inspiration of the Obamas and the gum chewing I sunglass wearing governor gave his answer and then Jacob to his credit took the opportunity to on MSN now to ask the first partner but there was no follow up as you'll see.

[00:02:12]There's a story in the Politico today that says, you know, that that Newsoms were ready for this and they're ready to take it on and and again they cast it all just as pure politics and kind of strategy and tactics and who's up and who's down and and didn't treat the investigation like a serious thing. As we've talked about before here, there may be a there there and and that that's a whole different kettle of fish.

[00:02:37]Kevin, what did you make of the first partner's reaction there?

[00:02:41]>> Well, I think she handled it very well in terms of blowing it off. I think the governor's response was, you know, that this was not obviously the setting for this. Jacob took the opportunity cuz there aren't many unscripted moments with those kinds of folks to get that question in. I think they handled it well. It will be Mark, to your point, I think obviously we know those investigations and and prosecutions of the president during the interregnum worked to his advantage especially in that primary taking up all the oxygen with, you know, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley. It will be anyway and that works for Donald Trump who who loved to be that persecuted. I'm, you know, they're coming after me cuz I stand in the way.

[00:03:18]It will be I don't know necessarily if that's transferable to other candidates and other people like Gavin Newsom. It is interesting that I didn't see Jon Ossoff there, but every other person in your eight for 28 for this month, I just had the team pull it, was there. Newsom, Shapiro, Harris, Buttigieg, Pritzker and Emanuel. I don't know if Bernie Sanders and Jon Ossoff weren't there.
