Added:Bilateral, our two countries as Mr. President you highlighted just now have long-standing relations marked by mutual respect, pragmatism, and constructive cooperation.
Singapore values our relations with Russia, with the government of Russia and its people.
>> Russia-Singapore relations have traditionally been characterized by mutual respect and a pragmatic nature, and we maintain a constructive dialogue in areas of mutual interest.
>> [snorts] >> Contacts between foreign ministries are also maintained, and coordination is carried out in response to common challenges and threats, in particular in the field of international information security.
We have a lot to offer each other in this regard, as I have already mentioned.
I know that your country is actively engaged and interested in this area, as it is one of the key threats of the modern world. Significant potential remains in the economic sphere, although it has not yet been fully realized, including due to introduction of restrictions.
Dear Mr. Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, dear friends, first of all, I would like to once again thank you for finding the opportunity to travel to Kazan for the summit dedicated to the 35th anniversary of relations between Russia and ASEAN. I believe the summit was very successful and productive. We attach great importance to the development of relations with the member states of the association. I warmly recall my visit to Singapore, which in addition to a bilateral program also included participation in the third Russia-ASEAN summit. It was there that the strategic partnership between our country and the association was proclaimed. I would like to thank you for the fact that Singapore was the place where this event took place.
We wish you successful ASEAN chairmanship next year.
Our countries cooperate not only here, but also on other international platforms, including above all the United Nations. Russia-Singapore relations have traditionally been characterized by mutual respect and a pragmatic nature, and we maintain a constructive dialogue in areas of mutual interest. Contacts between foreign ministries are also maintained, and coordination is carried out in response to common challenges and threats, in particular in the field of international information security. We have a lot to offer each other in this regard, as I have already mentioned.
I know that your country is actively engaged and interested in this area, as it is one of the key threats of the modern world. Significant potential remains in the economic sphere, although it has not yet been fully realized, including due to the introduction of restrictions. However, channels for business communication remain open. In April this year, another meeting of the Russia-Singapore Business Dialogue was held in Singapore. We welcome the participation of the Singapore delegation in the 29th St. Petersburg Economic Forum. We would also be pleased to see your representatives at other multilateral events held in Russia, including by the way the Eastern Economic Forum, which we will soon hold in Vladivostok. We attach great importance to strengthen humanitarian ties and developing cooperation in education and culture. Today's meeting provides a good opportunity to discuss in detail current issues, including the state and prospects of bilateral relations. We are very pleased, I would like to emphasize once again that you are here. I am confident that today's meeting and yesterday's discussions will contribute to the further development of bilateral relations.
>> Thank you very much, President Putin.
And once again, I'd like to thank you and the government and people of Russia for the warm hospitality extended to me and my delegation for this visit.
Uh this is my first time visiting Russia personally and in my official capacity.
So, it is extra meaningful and I'm delighted also that I have this chance during this visit to meet with you.
Uh we had a very good discussion earlier today in this uh ASEAN-Russia Summit.
And Singapore welcomes uh Russia's strong support for ASEAN centrality and your active engagement of ASEAN.
Uh we look forward to working closely with Russia to identify practical areas for cooperation with ASEAN when we take over as chair of ASEAN next year.
Uh bilaterally, our two countries, as Mr. President you highlighted just now, have long-standing relations marked by mutual respect, pragmatism, and constructive cooperation.
Uh Singapore values our relations with Russia, with the government of Russia, and its people.
Uh I had a very good meeting earlier just now with the Rais of Tatarstan and his team.
Uh we have very good ties with Tatarstan. We want to continue building on the relations we have with other parts of Russia as well. And I look forward to this discussion today, Mr. President, with you and your team to uh consider and identify areas of cooperation where we have shared interest so that we can take our relationship further. Thank you very much once again for the warm welcome.
