Those who protest against foreigners abusing girls get twice as long in prison as the actual abusers

[00:00:06]Last year, an African asylum seeker or illegal immigrant, choose which expression you will, was molesting girls in school uniform in the Essex town of Eping.

[00:00:19]This caused great anger in the town and demonstrations took place at the Bell Hotel where he and other asylum seekers were being housed.

[00:00:30]The police behaved in a very heavy-handed way, shoving people back and shouting at them.

[00:00:38]This hardly calmed the already tense situation, and some of the men pushed back at the police, feeling that if the police were going to start shoving and jostling them and shouting in their faces, then they should know that they weren't going to be cowed by such behavior. I know this is what happened because I saw it there. I was present.

[00:00:59]One of those who refused to be pushed around was a man called Lee Gower.

[00:01:04]The police shoved him. He shoved them right back. They shouted at him. He shouted back at them.

[00:01:13]Subsequently, both he and the asylum seeker who had been touching school girls and trying to kiss them was were both arrested.

[00:01:23]When Sadesh Kabatu, the child molester, appeared in court, he was sent to prison for a year.

[00:01:30]Lee Gower, a grown man who was jostling and bushing with other grown men, appeared in court. He was sent to prison for 2 years and 9 months.

[00:01:49]This, I cannot help observing, is something of a trend lately.

[00:01:55]Most normal people, if asked to judge which offense is worse, would, I'm pretty sure, think that indeently assaulting a school girl in the street, was 10 times worse than grown men engaging in a little rough confrontation.

[00:02:10]Of course, these days, anything which involves asylum seekers or immigrants is judged not by the standards of normal people, but by a new and alarming calculus, which is that any kind of offense which appears to be directed against foreigners is vastly worse than interfering with children and deserves the harshest punishment.

[00:02:33]I expect that viewers have themselves gasped at the prison sentences handed out to those furious about the abuse which takes place in their city or town and determined to show their disapproval in the most vigorous and robust way possible.

[00:02:48]There seems to many of us something wrong about this disparity. But since the establishment in this country are all working in unison, there's very little that can be done about it.

[00:02:59]The truth is that some parts of our community are protected by the authorities and police in a far more robust fashion than they are likely to look after our children.

[00:03:11]When this becomes the norm, and I very much fear that it has done so, then the stage is set for confrontation between the people and those who are supposedly charged with maintaining law and order.

[00:03:25]I do not welcome this but the government and police must surely be aware that it is they who are making it happen rather than the ordinary population.
