New June Patterns You'll LOVE!
Added:[music] >> Hi everyone, it's Kirsten here from the Dottie Society. I hope you're all well.
Maybe you're in need of some sewing inspiration and there's hopefully plenty of new indie patterns here to give you that little push. Now, right here in Melbourne today it is about 13°. It's really chilly. I have my boiled wool coat on and I'm all rugged up. This is like a wearable kind of dressing gown that you can wear out. I love it. It's just cozy and warm. A lot of patterns here today are not weather appropriate for me, but I'm sure a lot of you watching will find plenty of inspiration cuz there's so many beautiful new things for you guys in the northern hemisphere.
There's a couple of things that are for us as well here in the southern hemisphere because we're into winter at the moment. Um but you know, most things you'll find are great for layering.
There's a fantastic dress from Starlet that I'm really eyeing off and I hope there's plenty of things that you're going to love here today. So don't forget everything I talk about here on the channel today is listed in the description box below. And if you're watching and you haven't subscribed to this channel, I hope you can subscribe twice a week with plenty of sewing inspiration. I come back at the end of each week with brand new arrivals in our store, whether it be fabrics or new patterns, and I also put out plenty of sewing content and makes for you to be inspired. So, let's get started because I think you're going to love especially the first one I have here. So, glasses are on.
I've got my laptop here and I love the look of this uh this pattern. This is called the Lumi dress and knit top. This is a StyleArc pattern and I love StyleArc patterns and of course they're from Melbourne here, which is uh fantastic to have local designers. The Lumi looks exactly my cup of tea. I have to say I love anything with a bit of a waist sort of definition, especially when it has a twist or a bit of draping.
Uh this can be made in a top as well and has a kind of an asymmetric um bit happening at the front, which is lovely.
You can do it in three different sleeve lengths. You can do it in a shorter sleeve, long length sleeve, or elbow length sleeve. You've got the option of a V-neck, a round neck, I think it's more like a sort of boat neck style.
So, I think I do love a V-neck, but on this I have to say I love this kind of boat neck thing happening here.
I love the dress though. At the top looks really wearable, but I am just really swooning over this dress. I think it's absolutely beautiful. So, it's classed as an elegant pull-on top and dress with interesting waist detail, three sleeve options. So, the description here from StyleArc is that the Lumi knit top and dress is a modern design with striking asymmetric details, which I absolutely love. They just seem to suit everybody that I see them on, and that's really a great detail having a bit of shaping and definition without being constricting and really overly fitted. So, it's got effortless wearability, and I'll have to agree with that. Featuring your choice of round, boat, or V-neck line, the fitted dress has a subtle A-line shape, twisted detail at the left side, and optional godet for extra movement and volume. And a godet placed in the right spot is always really elegant. So, choose from a sleeveless, long sleeve, adjustable um sleeve lengths, which is great. It's got a back neck split for a polished finish.
The top variation features a unique pointed hem detail below the twist, creating a contemporary silhouette perfect for everyday styling. I think this looks gorgeous uh paired back with the skirt that they have here as well.
It's designed for knit fabrics, um which I'll touch on in a moment the the fabrics they've suggested, but it blends comfort with elevated design details, making it an ideal handmade wardrobe staple for day or evening wear. And I have to say I think this would be absolutely beautiful to make in an evening gown with a bit of sparkle, maybe one of our sequin knits.
Um we are going to be getting more glittery glam knits in the next couple of months as well, and I think this would be beautiful for glamming up for an evening out. And also, just being comfortable, it really helps. Fabric suggestions, they're saying any stable knit with two-way stretch and good recovery, like a cotton spandex, a scuba, a ponte, an interlock knit, a rib knit. So, yeah, just about anything with that little bit of um sort of recovery is quite important, and it will hold the drapes and the twist a bit better that way. Trims, you need bias binding uh for the neckline and sleeveless option to make your own. I would give you a reference to how to do binding. Um and also a button for the back neck split.
So, yeah, I think this would be beautiful in a ponte or like a scuba or especially, but I can really see this in a kind of elegant sparkly knit. So, have to say, I love the look at this. It is probably my standout favorite from this selection of patterns. I love the longer length sleeve with the full length skirt. I think it's really, really beautiful. Um it's one of those things that you can kind of show off an amazing print without taking up away too much detail from the print itself. But if you're wanting to make it in a plain solid color, it's got enough style that it's really going to show that off and get that bit of waist definition as well.
So, really love the Loungewear from Style Arc. I think it's beautiful. And if you guys have the crew membership or maybe the Cashmerette memberships, I personally do have the crew membership.
I love the patterns, and each month I really enjoy seeing how the Lou talk about the inspiration behind the pattern, where they got the kind of style inspo from. It's really, really lovely to see if it's, you know, maybe modeled on a vintage pattern that they've seen, or maybe just something that they find really wearable that they felt that there was a gap in the market there.
Um I haven't made a lot of the patterns, but I have to say they are some of my favorite patterns in the inventory that I have, and I really, really want to make the Celia from last year. I want to make the um I've got the the Cashmerette Hazelton from last year I haven't made yet. I really love the look of that. But this Eleanor dress is right up there I would say with the Celia. It's one of my dresses that I really want to make uh heading into maybe our spring summer.
Um, but I love the look of this is is very vintage glam. So the details on the Eleanor. Now these patterns will be available at the end of the month. They usually do release them first to crew members and then they have them available um for people to purchase on PDF, which is great. So the Eleanor is a timeless and customizable pattern you'll return to again and again. It has a beautiful fitted bodice and a gently flared skirt.
Classic silhouette designed to celebrate a beautiful ornate print and flowing fabrics like viscose and silk. It does work equally as well with soft cottons and linens as as well, which is fantastic for anyone going that warmer weather.
The bodice sits at the natural waist, features a double bust and waist dart.
So a lot of nice shaping happening there.
It has a high jewel neckline finished with facings and the skirt is paneled into a gently flared A-line shape in your choice of either mini or midi length. And I am midi all the way. I love a good midi dress. I just find them really wearable um dress up and down quite easily and I just like having that kind of bit of coverage there, but also nice and swishy and yeah, really easy to dress up or down. I think it's really important. So the view A has a refined silhouette with a closed jewel neckline at the front and back. Uh the sleeve ends above the elbow. There's a beautiful gently puffed sleeve a shoulder and it closes with invisible zipper. And view B is flirtier and a bit more fun with a short cap sleeve and a double keyhole neckline finish. Had a button at the front. The semi-open back as well as a really lovely feature. The back panels close with two buttons and it's kind of giving that sort of I would say like a 70s spin on it because back in the 70s I think um a lot of the dresses the backs were open, but you can actually chop and change around. Don't forget if you wanted to make the midi version, you can do the open back or vice versa there. Um so the skirt is secure with an invisible elastic back and invisible zip up all that open neckline. Love a key hole dress. I think that that is so 40s vintage, isn't it? The key hole neckline. Really really beautiful and I really can't wait to make this. I'm kind of looking for the right fabric. Whether I do that open back or not, I'm not sure. I think you just need to find the right bra if you're going to cover that with a maybe decorative button.
Um but if you're wanting to wear it without a bra, you could do it or um I think it's that where that band sits, you need to position that really carefully. But I probably would do just the key hole front. I really like the look of the midi in this red color. I think it's gorgeous. Very simple, but I love the key hole. I'll definitely be putting that in. I just think it's very simple, but one of those dress patterns that you don't see a lot of. So gorgeous in the print as well. Our most popular patterns to print on A0 every month is Itch to Stitch patterns and they do have such a great variety of patterns. They are all PDF, um but I love the fact that uh Kennis brings out these patterns really regularly and the one she's brought out this month is the Zuberi trousers and they are of course PDF.
Size range is double 0 to 40. They are a high rise natural fit at the waist.
There's a wide leg silhouette, a front fly closure, a front dart, and two back darts for a bit of shaping there. Has a unique side dart in place of a side seam, which again is very interesting.
Front and back patch pockets, ankle or full length wide woven fabric with a drape, like a linen, a linen blend, a tencel or lyocell twill, wool blend, and you can also use stretch woven fabrics, but you might need to size down because of that give. So, avoid using a very crisp or stiff fabric like a cotton, a quilting cotton, or a heavy canvas because they won't allow the darts to shape the body as smoothly as something with a bit more give.
Um yeah, so really beautiful pants, kind of give a bit of a utilitarian look there. Um but in between a tailored look and a utilitarian. But yeah, I really like the look of these. I think they'd be really classic, handy kind of pants to wear, and great in that for that warmer weather out with a bit of a bit longer of a lightweight fabric like a linen would be fantastic. I've seen a few people make this beautiful dress from Designer Stitch. It's called the Alida dress. It's a PDF only, and it is on sale at the moment. I love its kind of vintage boho look, and it also has this really beautiful kind of square neckline, but the back has this tie detail, which is really interesting. I think the sleeves are really beautiful, um glamorous and boho, and it would be gorgeous in a soft viscose fabric. Asked for a very advanced beginner, the Alida dress is floaty and feminine silhouette designed for makers who love movement and swishiness, softness, and a touch of boho streamy proportions and graceful details. The Alida is a piece that you'll reach for when you want to feel relaxed and beautifully put together.
And what an amazing summery sundress this would make. I think it's gorgeous.
It's simple, but I think having something that really showcase a beautiful vintage fabric would be amazing. Romantic and airy and really lovely to wear. I love the kind of baby doll high waistline with a square neck.
I I like how it's got the fitting around the bust, a nice loosely gathered skirt, uh and that back tie I think is really gorgeous. You can also make it in a peplum style top as well if you want to wear it with a pair of jeans. Um but love the look of that. I think you can definitely play that up with a bow at the back. So, fabric that the LED will shine best in a cotton voile, a georgette, a chiffon, and a viscose.
Really depends on how much drape and softness you want to give the silhouette, but Boho dreams all the way, and I think this is a gorgeous pattern.
Size range on Designer Stitch, of course, is a size 1 to 9, but really think this is a really pretty summery Boho dress. It's funny looking at all these beautiful summery dresses at the moment because I am rugged up here, but the heater on as well. Um the new Sinclair patterns, we've got this gorgeous Emma woven blouse pattern again. Sinclair are PDF only. They do have the option for petite and tall and regular, which is fantastic for anyone with issues with patterns. If you're tall or petite, you'll always find trouble um getting things to fit you.
So, that's a really lovely option.
Sinclair Emma is a semi-fitted at the shoulders and bust, relaxed at the waist and hips. The woven blouse features a modest V-neckline, and the front princess seams run from the shoulder over the bust for the cups A, B, C, D, E, and F, which is fantastic. The center front has uh a stitch-down placket with five buttons, and you also have the option of putting a really pretty frill there around the neckline if you really want to play it up. So, I love the look of the sleeves as well. You've got different options for sleeves. You've got the shorter, the longer length, and the elasticated bottom, which is what I always go for.
Sizing is extra small to 4 extra large with all those regular, petite, and tall options. Sinclair have also brought out the Lena woven dolman style. A relaxed style dress, relaxed through the shoulders, bust, and waist. This woven dress is cut in a dolman style with princess seams running from the shoulder to the waistline. Again, cup sizes A, B, C, D, E, and F, and the round neckline finished with an enclosed bias binding as well. Fabric ties sit at the natural waist to give you that little bit of definition, and I really have to say, I love the little puff sleeve as well. So, um yeah, two different versions there.
And fabric suggestions for this dress, Elena, a lightweight to medium weight opaque fabrics such as cotton lawn, rayon challis, viscose, Tencel, linen blends, chambray, poplin, and crepes.
So, lots of different options there for some beautiful swishy dress. I have to say, the Wardrobe By Me patterns would have to be one of our most popular paper patterns sold in store. So, if these do not come in paper patterns, which they should, I should be able to get a hold of them very shortly. I know they're going to be popular. This particular pattern is the wrap blouse. I love a good wrap blouse. It's a little bit different because it has a bit of a waist definition here. So, a fitted wrap blouse for lightweight jersey. So, it's a knit top pattern with elastic lace neckline, waist tie through the side seams, and a zigzag lace hem detail.
Really cute, very very wearable, I think, too. Great for layering. Creates a close and a flexible fit. The one tie passes through an opening in the side seam, allowing you to wrap around securely around the body, which is fantastic. The neckline has this elastic lace, so it creates a clean decorative edge while stabilizing the openings. Um the wrap blouse can be made in lightweight single jersey such as pointelle, drop needle, or plain single jerseys with 15 to 20% horizontal stretch. And I think a viscose jersey would also be really good for this. So, size range for the wrap blouse for Wardrobe By Me is um 30 to 54 or US 0 to 24.
Uh I have to say, the the pants pattern that they've released as well are a trip down memory lane. These are called the bubble pants. So far, they're only on PDF, but they are a voluminous pair of kind of like genie pants style with elastic waist gathered at the hem for playful floaty silhouette. Easy to pull on for lightweight woven. So, this is especially for woven, these pants. Size range is small to three extra large and the fabric suggestions they've set out are a lightweight woven, voile, double gauze. How comfortable and cool would they be in a double gauze for summer?
A seersucker, a cotton, linen, or silk.
And you just need elastic and a thread and you'll be able to whip these up quite easily. So, these are really cute.
Look like secret pajamas. I think they'd be wonderful and comfortable to wear.
Kelli Handcrafted has got some beautiful patterns and we are always getting people ordering A0s in her her patterns.
But, I have to say this new one from her is beautiful. It is called the Daisy Dress PDF pattern. Lovely neckline. It's got these gorgeous sort of fitted bust princess seams.
It comes in cup sizes double A to E plus. So, that is fantastic because a lot of the time these kind of dresses you will have issues with bust fitting if you're more than a C cup. This one is especially catered for you.
So, you can spend less time adjusting and more time sewing. So, you have skirt pockets, multiple strap options, soft puff sleeves with two skirt lengths to choose from. And you got either the straps or these beautiful voluminous puff sleeve. Really beautiful in a linen. Very clear beginner friendly easy instructions. You'll breeze through with being having your hand held from Tammy.
So, you can actually do the fully lined skirt as well if you wanted to do that.
And the size inclusive pattern comes in 14 size ranges 6 to 32. And fabric recommendations are a lightweight woven fabric like a cotton, linen, viscose, or double gauze. And you have this beautiful shearing at the back to give you that nice fit.
Sort of draws it in without being uncomfortably firm with you know things like invisible zippers. So, that I think this dress is really really pretty. And I have to say I love the puff sleeve option. What I like is it has the elastic. So, I have trouble with things slipping off the shoulder. So, having that elastic will help it stay on really nicely. And I have to say I have printed out quite a few of these for customers and I would love to see this one on. I think it's beautiful on. So, over it have some beautiful dresses. This is a new pattern from them. It's a simple pattern. I have to say it's probably more on the simpler side for them, but looks really lovely for showcasing a really nice print. Sometimes I'm looking for those patterns that are going to showcase a print without breaking it up and they can be hard to find. I love the Haley. It's a top or dress pattern.
Comes in PDF sizes 6 to 30. And the I love the different versions. It's a tank top style dress, but it has like a swishy A-line skirt with a really nice sort of cinched in belt.
You've got two versions. You can make the swishy midi dress or the hip length top.
And it's a great wardrobe builder and it also is fantastic for layering if you wanted to wear it as a pinafore style dress as well. The Haley is neatly fitted across the shoulders with darts in every size to create a perfect fit at the bust without losing movement through the body. The scoop neckline at both the front and back keeps it simple and flattering while all in one facings gives a clean finish. I really like a facing. I am a facing fan. A lot of people don't like facings, but I have to say I find they work really well.
They've suggested viscose, linen, linen viscose blend, crepe are perfect choices and softer cottons will work well, too.
So, just make sure they've got a little bit of drape if you're sewing version one, which is the dress. So, really pretty on. Love it in just a simple bold color as well, but perfect for showcasing a lovely print if you don't want to break it up. One of our newer patterns in store and new brand is Notch Patterns and they have just released the Clara shirt and dress. So far just on PDF. I think this is a lovely like open style camp collar shirt. You can make it in a shirt or shirt dress. You got different variations for sleeves and I think it's really really classic. I love a good shirt dress and I have to say I'm really eyeing this one. The sort of frill on the patch pocket here. Love a good detail um collar. But I love how you can just do it with a simple integrated collar or you can do the full camp style collar as well. And the fabrics they've suggested for the Notches Clara shirt is a lightweight fluid fabric like a viscose tencel or fine cotton for a soft floaty look. If you prefer more structure, you can opt for heavier fabrics like a cotton chambray, linen or more with a more boxy appearance. I really like the look of the more um cropped version with that sort of open lapel collar. I think it'll work really well. But I I really love the different versions, especially when you see how many versions you can do.
This is a really good wardrobe basic builder to have in the pattern stash.
And yeah, you can do so many variations with this one looks fantastic. Size range on this is UK 6 to 34. So a great size range. So Maison Fauve have released a little duo set. They've released the Peacock shorts, which are a little vintage style pair of shorts with some great sort of dart and um pleat detail. Really lovely in like a cotton or a linen for summer. But you can pair it back with a beautiful new top they released called the Lioness top. And this one has a really softly draping sort of cowl neckline, which I think will work really well for anything like a you know viscose or viscose satin, a crepe, uh a light soft cotton would be beautiful in that as well. So a really great little duo pair to sort of pair back and to do a bit of like a like a little co-ord set. Um but also the Lioness would be fantastic to make in like a cami style top in a print to wear underneath a blazer for all year round as well. So Maison Fauve patterns are just beautiful. We do have those patterns stocked in store and I love their packaging. It's just so collectible and beautiful but a great little summer set from the ladies at Maison Fauve. They're my top picks for June. Of course, a lot of them not seasonally appropriate for us here in the southern hemisphere, especially down here in Melbourne but I know a lot of my customers up north will still find these very appealing. I hope I have inspired you to go and check out some of these fantastic new indie patterns. I'll be inspired as soon as that warmer weather comes around to do that beautiful dress and shirt sewing. But yeah, I am loving the look of a lot of these. I think I'll be earmarking these as soon as that weather starts warming up but yeah, I think for me the top pick would be the StyleArc Lumi. I think it's going to be a winner and I love a good knit dress from StyleArc. I know I've made the the Rowee and I love that as well. I'd love to hear in the comments below what your top pick was there for June new patterns and if you've seen a new pattern release that I haven't touched on, haven't mentioned there, please write it in the comments below because people do read those comments and we get that way I get to share the new patterns around and hopefully get some sewing inspiration there for you. Thanks so much for watching. Don't forget to give this vlog a thumbs up if you've enjoyed this kind of sewing content. I'll be back here for new fabrics and new arrivals and brand new things happening in the store and also our Makers Gallery is coming very soon. So don't forget to send your makes in so we can share those with everyone.
Have a wonderful week. See you all soon.
Bye for now.
