This week a new PBS News NPR Marist Poll, one of the most respected independent polling organizations in the country, >> [music] >> asked Americans what they actually think. Here is what they said. Only 33% of Americans approve of how Trump is handling the economy. That is his lowest number ever in 6 years of Marist polling, lower than he ever hit in his first term, lower than Joe [music] Biden ever hit during his entire presidency.

[00:00:40]60% disapprove. Here is the part that should surprise you. Rural Americans, who gave Trump a 22-point advantage on the economy in February 2025, are now 10 points underwater. That is a 32-point swing against him in just 16 months.

[00:00:57]Latinos disapprove two to one. 78% of Americans say gas prices >> [music] >> have directly hurt their household budget. Gas is still 79 cents per gallon higher than before [music] the Iran war started, even with the recent drop. The Iran deal may bring some relief eventually, but right now 60% of Americans, including his own rural base, are telling pollsters the same thing.
