Care Workers Confront Keir Starmer at Downing Street Over Visa Promises |
Added:We are the people holding up the barricade system that British families rely on. And we are doing it with one hand tied behind our backs.
We've just made three major asks. Number one, the government should end the system of tied sponsorship that leaves us trapped.
>> We can't hear you at the >> We demand a structural right sponsorship so we can leave our exploitative employer without being threatened to leave the UK.
Secondly, we vehemently say no to the retrospective application of the ILR policy.
You changed the income rules after we arrived, after we worked through COVID, after we held the hands of dying patients while separated from our own children. To move the goal posts backwards is not fair policy. It is cruelty and threat as law.
Thirdly, the government should implement a fair pay agreement. We are not asking for gold. We are asking that the person who cares, supports, and takes care of the vulnerable in society is paid commensurately well as the person who lives next door to the Prime Minister.
To stop the two-tier way that says a migrant labor is worthless.
It simply paints the picture that our services are wanted, but the service provider is not appreciated enough.
Mr. PM, you want to stop the far right?
Then stop repeating their lies. When you allow rhetoric that says migrants are stepping ahead of British workers while ignoring that we have no recourse to public funds, you give permission for hate. We keep a clean DBS. We are not criminals. We pay our NI and taxes. We get no benefits. We care for the British people.
So finally, we've come to ask the PM in our petition, will you stand with us, or will you stand by while while we are burned as scapegoats by an unpopular immigration policy? We are not a problem. We are the solution.
Stop us at your table, Mr. PM. Please, get up, defend us, withdraw this policy, and implement our petition. Thank you very much.
