This video discusses the importance of democratic governance, highlighting the Carter Center's recommendations for the 2025 general and regional elections, which address issues such as campaign financing, use of state resources, media access, and GCOM reform. The host emphasizes that for a country to function democratically, political parties should be represented on all committees, and the wheel of justice must operate efficiently to maintain public trust in the electoral process.

God of his mercies, I had a fantastic time, you know. I need I need another week to recover from the last week. I need another week to recover from the last week. Right.
I need another week. Naomi, how you doing there? Naomi be coming around to that subject matter in a little bit.
Lot of swarm up. [laughter] All right, y'all pe Naomi's comment about folks who might need a mental health check.
Politics is a strange thing. You know, a day in politics is like a year.
You know, things change all the time.
Things are always fluid. Gilig, all of the others. I know some of you hid from me while I was in, as my little son would say, New York. [laughter] Some of y'all hid from me.
So, I can't collect the um the subscriptions, the contributions. While I was in New York, well, I had I had a time of my life.
Margaret Nelson, good morning. Good morning folks. You all notice Margaret has has been producing content. Margaret here, I want you to do for me though.
One thing I want you to do for me addition.
It's not a it's not a subtraction. An addition, right? I want you to narrate.
Right? For those who are looking in, let's say I'm not familiar with this art exhibition you're at both cruise.
See you in your MercedesBenz or leather interior.
Narrate for us what we watching, right?
Tell us what we looking at, right? Tell us that. Tell us what what we looking at. So if let's say I want come out north and you want to come by you I know they got things I could I could do places I can go right a little narration a little narration tell us why we Margaret is pick up on her on her content y'all think Margaret just retire and waiting to go back to Jamaica not a bit of it everything come knock and this is not just sen is proper is propert.
Margaret is there and she has her camera and she's giving you you know many places I've traveled through Margaret just looking at her video content.
So, I just want to I just want I said I was going to message you privately, but as as I see you on the live, as I see you on the live, Margaret, as I see you on the live, you know. So, this time as part of the warm up more than usual, I was in New York City, New York. According to my 5-year-old St. Zane, I was in New York for a couple days more than usual.
Right. But here here's here's what got got to me. So my cousin Antonio, she's a real frequent flyer.
I never meet a person who could travel more than my cousin Antonio. Soon she mission a different country. You like Margaret is is a younger Margaret. She wine testing, you know, wine and cheese. She somewhere she set for July 5th. She lives in South Carolina for July 5th. She already got your ticket booked. She go in Chicago for July 5th. She like that. She don't know what she doing in August. In September, she don't. So, she was with me in New York, herself and her parents.
And so, they were they were telling me, you know, you got to you got to act more like a New Yorker. You're coming you're coming with all your Georgeism, right?
It's natural when I meet people to say good morning, to say thank you, how you doing? Right? She said, "No, no, no. You got to be rude. Hey, you got to be rude."
Right? Stop. Stop. Stop it. That's what she said to me. Stop saying good morning to So I I get in the elevator. I say good morning. Now I'm not waiting for a response. Nobody says anything. They drew it to my attention. Nobody said anything. Nobody responded. But I didn't leave it down to me. I just a natural thing. Y'all know us as gies. I I say good morning.
She says stop it right now.
She said you you you have to be rude here.
Right.
We're in some place getting fast food.
A lady get one baby in a in one arm.
She get fast food in another arm. She got a problem there. The lady struggling with open the door. I gone with her fronting self. I help him with the prom lifting the thing over. She said stop it right now.
Don't do it. [laughter] Don't do it.
Right. Stop looking at people. Keep your eyes down. Keep your eyes on the ground.
She says, "Keep your eyes on the ground.
Don't look at people."
How can I walk my eyes on the pavement?
[laughter] How can I walk with my eyes on the pavement all the time?
That was New York for me. Stop it.
So, she was thrilling me. She was watching me. Every time people came in in the elevator somewhere, she was watching me.
Don't you dare say anything.
[laughter] They can't ask people how you doing, you know. Good morning. You know, nothing.
Who is this boy? But I had I had a good time. I had a good time.
Look at y'all. Right. Look, look, look, look. Look, look. D is not promiser. the stroller, the pram, the push thing with the baby.
I had a fantastic time. I was quite a little emotional seeing my son graduated, graduating from high school. You know, we had some we had some fun. We had we we had some good times, man. And then I also had the privilege of seeing a cousin of mine get married and that's what took me to Maryland.
You know, she got hatched and matched matched in Maryland.
So was into New York, got on a train, went up to um Maryland, and then we came back down to I don't know, we came to New Jersey, saw my son graduate, and then we all came back to New York and celebrated.
The next one I notice notice when Trump was there the last that night. Y'all notice that and once he entered the city [laughter] Margaret says I I like her husband I was talking to strangers. [laughter] We can't help it. We're nice people.
We're nice people Margaret. We're nice people. You know, I be shaking people hand. How you doing?
My cousin says, "Stop it right now.
Stop it right now." See, you got to be rude here. Don't care about people, right? Stop giving away for people to come out the elevator. You just go.
[laughter] Stop waiting for people to come out. You just go. You waiting for people going the train, waiting for people to come out, giving way to people. Stop it right now.
You see, you got to be rude in New York.
[laughter] I didn't know you have been keeping things from me. I didn't know. You see, I think this is the longest I ever stayed in New York City. You got to be Rudy. God damn it. Had a great time though. I had a fantastic time. But they said what I love about the north where the majority of you are systems work but system work you know the train runs on time you know I was so amazed I was so look Sonia said New York is different in good to see you but I tell you this my son's graduation after participating in that graduation I wondered why it took us four to 5 minutes we still couldn't raise the national flag.
I wondered why 45 minutes and we could not raise the national flag.
The invitation said whether you needed to be seated.
Everybody was there.
5:00 quart 5 it said when the when the ceremony would start. 6:00 p.m.
the ceremony would start. at 5:59.
At 5:59, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the something center downtown New Jersey, New York or whatever y'all call it. 559 and for about an five to what? Hour and a half, just over hour and a half.
You didn't had a situation where a mic wasn't working.
You should hear the acoustics in this building.
You didn't have no testing testing one two three testing testing one two three.
Somebody y'all tag Ganish and tell he don't call Dunker now he on the program.
Y'all tag Ganish in the comments. Ganish by Paul MP. He's trying to call me.
Message him and said don't don't call the MP. He on the show right now.
559 program start. You had testing testing 1 2 3. You don't have nobody running to pull a chair or a blade.
The program had no master ceremony.
No chair person moderator just item after item after item.
We looked at the number of graduants and we said we can hit him at 10:00.
He had about 250 persons, right? My aunt and uncle slipped out for a little bit to use the washroom just as the principal was finished speaking and were about to begin the ceremony based on where my son's name was. They said they could run quick and come back.
By the time they went outside, I said the ceremony started at 6 on the dot.
5:59 at about minutes to at about 7:30 all those people those students names were called they had their certificate in hand event finished and it it it never felt rushed.
It never felt like they were hustling you out and speeding things through.
They went through about 200 students plus a very substantive program giving praise and awards and honors in just over hour and a half.
I was like wow.
And we take four to five minutes and we ain't got a flag up in the air as yet.
Another thing that impressed me.
Another thing that impressed me now my my my my both my cousin and her husband who got married recently you know they are mature people they've been married before they tying the knot again so they were in all the frills we went to the courthouse in wherever it was Maryland Washington where it was and then they we had a lovely reception afterwards I probably eat out the food but what impressed me Again, again time impressed me a lot. But what impressed me more, the lady who did the ceremony at this court, how was the clerk or whoever it was sign the register and so on and what's not. It was very beautiful, very touching. They love each other a lot.
And when she declared them man and wife and she was congratulating them, she's handing them the marriage certificate at the same time.
Not an application to fill out to come back in 3 weeks the right way to bribe somebody to push it fast to get it back at a certain time. And she was saying congratulations to the bride and groom husband and wife Mr. or Ms. She says, "Here is the marriage certificate right here. You guys need copies, feel free to come back, write to us, email us anytime. We'll be happy to issue you guys with more copies of this." And she's the certif certificate in your one time.
One time and again I don't think the whole thing was more than 20 minutes.
very smooth, very efficient. That's what I like about America.
We still trying to raise the flag in Fort Island. Now, as you know by now, as you know by now, the flag never went up.
The flag tied itself to the pole. They use another flag pole and they um and they hoisted the flag. The flag never went up.
It just never did.
We got We got a lot.
I see y'all say the flag fed up.
The flag fed up.
You know, I'll tell you all more about my journeys as the um in the coming days to be in New York when the Knicks won. I will count that as one of the high points in my life.
My cousin again at me.
My cousin again at me.
I run into different things and she said, "Where you going? [laughter] Let me go in. Where you going?"
[laughter] Oh, so much happened that night. The next one in New York City, I was happy.
Just coincidentally, we happen to be there at the same time. You know, I am not a basketball fan. Much much less a fanatic, a much more a fanatic. Now, it just happened to be in the right place at the right time. My son said, "Let me go." And we just wanted, you know, something to do. Now, off we went a viewing party and then the aftermath of the Nick's wedding in New York City in Manhattan. My it was pulsating to say the least. With that being said, that being said, good morning everybody.
Welcome. Enough of me. [laughter] Um Naomi, I with you. My cousin is a party pooper.
I'm with you there. I'm with you. I run into the action. I want to see who won the lamp post and up. I live videoing. I want to see this that [laughter] some other things. But we had a fantastic time. And thanks to the Americans. Thanks to you guys for hosting us, you know. Thanks to you folks.
Yeah. Back to OBG now.
Back to OBG, you know. I don't know when we can call it, but this elections this elections matter.
I don't know when we can call it.
Margaret, Donna, Eva, or ever.
6 years plus.
I remember when Adam Andel the attorney general said they got can loads of evidence but like they're still on the way to the court 6 years and counting and this 2020 election matter concerning these trumped up Paul allegations.
election fraud allegation 6 years later.
Just by comparison, what year was the January 6th event in the US?
What year was that?
Uh what year it was when folks stormed the capital?
What year was that? folks were tried and charged and pardoned and almost what was the fund 1 something billion US fund to compensate some of those persons all of that happened we still at the we're still at the try the triphase we're still at the triphase the trial and trying.
I saw there was a big UFC march on the lawns of the White House all of that and we now we now trying still 6 years after you understand why the flag refused to go up.
Naomi reminded me it was in 2020.
The flag refused to go up.
Six years later, why is the wheel of justice so slow in this country?
Is it about time we we give a no case submission?
Is it fair that these folks running to court running back and forth back for what?
Right?
If you can't prove a matter in 6 years of this matter you say has so much gravity and substance and so on, I think you can prove it in 12.
I don't believe you proved it in you'll prove it in 12.
We've had another general and region election since this time and yet we here.
Yet we here.
So in this recent court hearing, we saw police inspector Nigel Stevens testifying before acting chief magistrate Fate McGusti.
this most recent theory.
But where is it going?
Where is it going?
Even with the caner loads of evidence, nowhere.
They know this is just efforts in futility.
I almost said fertility.
Futility is futile.
It is futile and listen to me homie Mandy Denise I didn't I'm not inventing these headlines you know so many events have eclipsed intervened since 2020 election like you said you had a whole other election that transpired whole election that has its own basket of issues and it's not good issues.
It is not.
The parliamentary opposition had a meeting just this morning, an online meeting with the extractive institute, the extractive industries rather, the international body, the EITI just came out a meeting with them and came on the show.
Serious challenges in the sector locally, the extractive industry sector.
serious challenges.
They think it's one thing wrong with this country.
And after that, what the Carter Center said about the 2025 general and regional election, the unlevel playing field, the abuse of state resources, Naomi, Yanet, Rastan, Bernice, Deborah, Homie, Everett, the abuse, the corrupt use of state resources. is the corrupt use of people's data data, the corrupt use of it.
They talk also about using the launching of government initiatives for campaign purposes.
All of these things were discussed yesterday as the car center sat down with the executive at state house, sat down with them, they were discussing several recommendations and I could understand in a sense why the car sense is trying to go the extra mile because when you just hand them a report it never gets read. So you got to almost read out for them what inside the report cuz they don't like read. They don't like studies. They don't like books.
They don't like digital or physical. They don't like it.
So they discussed the recommendations in the character center observation mission report campaign financing.
The use of state resources, media access, another big one, fair media access.
GCOM reform.
GCOM reform.
We got to talk about that this morning as well.
And imagine Naomi favor we are talking about the 2025 general and region elections. The car center report and the 20 issues for the 2020 generation elections still in the court still in the court still but again you and I know there's no veracity to the allegations that are being raised as a matter of fact What we see the people doing in this elections um elections case is tying up their own self, tying up their own self.
So we're watching to see what government does now with these recommendations that have been issued by the Carter Center.
We're watching to see how serious government takes them. How many of them are implemented?
How many as we in the 2020 election rock and coming Naomi 8 months ago, 10 months ago, we had the election September 2025. 10 months ago.
We're just out of one year and it is last week that parliamentaries committees were operationalized last week.
Just last week.
Can you imagine that?
And you're all trying to tell me these guys are democratic.
They are for a democratically functioning country.
Right? That is what you all would have me believe.
And 10 months after you are now appointing now appointing these committees the members of the committees so I'm told that wins winest nationhood dear member of parliament Vishnu Pandi he's heading the public accounts committee heading the public accounts committee constitutional reform.
This committee is being headed by Nandlal attorney general and Nandlal right. Committee of appointments being headed by Gail Tashira.
Security sector committee is being headed by the prime minister Mark Phillips. Economic Services Committee is being headed right by Dwart Hsburgger of the Reinvest Nationhood Party right social services being headed by Vinda Prasad Dr. of India pasad natural resources is being headed by Vikram Barath Vikram he's the minister within the ministry of natural resources Jaguar is the minister natural resources is being headed by him the committee and then I want to come to the committee that I thought that Amanza would have been heading, which is the foreign relations committee, right? blessed on our own um scrutiny of the Syrian government, based on her oversight, the foreign relations committee.
This committee is being headed by Odessa Primus who is the member of parliament for the win invested nationhood party right now.
I wondered about this because I was reminded that the forana movement leader manu did cast a vote for Mr. Muhammad as a vision leader and then he in turn he in turn said that she will be facilitated on several committees right now I do believe I'll say this I go and let me say this I think every political party should be represented on a committee I ain't going to pick which but I think as business as part of the business of giving oversight that should be standard that should be standard that you have a political party in the house who is not on any of the committees that may defeat the purpose of even being a member of parl because they still give oversight and if the business of the people of this country is also in the work of the committees then political parties should be represented in the committees and I can say PAC or public of the public accounts or foreign relations or social services but to not end up on any the committees to not end up on any of the committees even when that promise was made.
You back me. I can back you.
But this is the reality.
This is the reality. I'm waiting to hear what my learned colleague says on this matter. I don't think anything public has been said is yet. when we want to know why am I so surprised right why am I so surprised I always tell myself that you know politics doesn't surprise me and then watch this watch this here I think she might have been represented in every committee. But but God, you know, let me do what my cousin say and keep and and keep my head down.
Don't engage people.
Let keep my head down and navigate these streets. Don't don't engage nobody, right? I keep my head down. Don't engage nobody.
No good morning, no good afternoon.
So we're watching to see Right.
What happened to your word is your butt man bad in this business.
What happened to that? Where is your butt? All right, let's move on. We got other things as we un as we in politics as is the custom s news headline that suggests that the leader of the opposition he wants a meeting with the former leader of the opposition Mr. Norton or B Norton.
And he also wants to meet with others concerning the replacing right of GCOM commissioners.
the replacing of GCOM commissioners.
Well, I wish you well with that.
I wish you well with that.
I wish you well.
I wish you well with that.
So, we watching it.
We're watching it to see where this goes.
Right.
We know Mr. not in the past has said the law says that these commissioners don't serve as they might be appointed by a political party but they don't serve at the pleasure and they have um security of tenure they have security of tenure so as long as they want to stay there their life they could stay Yeah.
So I wish the leader of the opposition well with that.
I wish him well, you know, wish him well with that with that one.
And then we got some other issues as we wrap up this morning as we let you guys go on to the rest of your day.
the gas energy project that's going on at Wales, you know, it's been polluting the cost of it polluting cost going up every day. See the government says now that a Trinidadian firm is going to be operating.
All right.
The gas energy project a Trinadian form again this under the coalition government it had one cost on the PPP that cost has gone up several times.
Several times.
Several times. Finally.
Finally, I know a program that was undertaken by Stride 592.
This is an athletics group, athletics entity.
It's called Girls on the Move.
And as part of this program, I noted they're saying that they're targeting girls from the Tiger Bay community for 12 weeks program which will combine running, mentorship, life skill trainings for girls ages 6 to 18.
I just wanted to say kudos to them.
Kudos to them. They said they will train with female train with female professionals to learn about confidence, bullying, nutrition, mental wellness, leadership.
As I saw this, I just wanted to say congrats to Stribe for truly making a difference.
Congrats to them.
Congrats to them. We need more programs like this, not political programs.
We need more programs that can build our young people in a genuine way.
Really build our young people. Right. So that's some of what we got for you guys, you beautiful folks this morning as we're back.
Looking forward to engaging all of you.
Good to see Stan and Kirk and Favor.
Good to see Warren on the live, Lydia.
All right, good to see Gideon and alive as well. Sanborn and Bernice Marlin Blair. We have so much so many Marlins, Thomas, Lauron, now Blair and others.
Thank you for joining us this morning.
We had a long warm up. Thank you guys so much and we're going to see you guys back on our next broadcast on the other side of the day. Stay safe. Share the broadcast. Smash that emoji button as well. Good folks, smash it, please. And thank you. We're going to see you guys on our next on our next broadcast. Stay safe. That's the time.
That's your program. Stay safe.
