NEET Re-Exam: Telegram Blocked In India Till June 22 | NTA Responds After Telegram Restriction |N18V
Added:regards to the NEET re-examination we're learning that Telegram has been blocked in India till the 22nd of June. Remember 21st [music] is when the NEET re-exam takes place and given the scope of investigations [music] and how a few arrests have taken place, men who ran a fake NEET re-exam paper racket via [music] Telegram to cheat medical aspirants given that now we're learning that Telegram has been blocked in India till the 22nd of June because 21st is when uh re-NEET re-examination is officially scheduled. So, officially scheduled for 21st and given the investigations that are currently on ahead of the examination, the government has blocked Telegram in India till the 22nd of June.
So, a few hours after the examination is when the NEET uh exam the the the Telegram application will be unblocked is is what we're learning. So, fresh admit cards have already been released. Remember the 15th of June it can be downloaded is being downloaded from the official NTA NEET website and there are a lot of question marks, viewers, on the conduct of the NEET re-examination given the NEET paper leak controversy and how the exam was uh canceled and then rescheduled for the 21st. There has been a lot of anger in the students' community. A lot of students say that our time has been lost. Questions that the NTA has had to answer since questions on the credibility of NTA holding these examinations. All of those questions remain and as investigations are underway, this is certainly a precautionary measure being taken by the government. The government given that the investigations also revolve around uh some of those who ran this fake NEET racket uh cheating medical aspirants through Telegram via Telegram is how this paper was leaked. Given that now Telegram has been blocked in India till the 22nd of June. So, it will be unblocked possibly a day after the NEET re-examination takes place. I don't want to go across to Pallavi Ghosh who joins us with that official order.
Pallavi, it's a big step to prevent paper leak ahead of NEET because the biggest question has also been whether the NTA will be able to ensure a free and transparent conduct of this re-examination. It's a headline that had taken the entire country by by surprise.
Tell us a little bit about some of these precautionary measures being adopted by the government.
>> See, Christine, the crackdown from the government had already begun every time there was this whole talk about NEET examination of paper being leaked. And now the fresh dates have been issued for the NEET exam, but the government doesn't want to take any chances. Until 22nd June when the exams are, Christine, that is the time till which Telegram has been blocked. Now, Telegram is a very popular app that we all use as far as messaging is concerned, but there was evidence to show that Telegram was one of the platforms through which the leaked paper was circulated among the students or whoever who wanted it, and they could easily access it. So, as a precautionary measure, this is something which has been appreciated by the NTA as well. The IIT Ministry has stepped in, and IT Ministry has decided that till 22nd June when the examinations are being conducted, Telegram, the popular app through which the leakage is possible to plug all the loopholes, has been blocked.
>> Pallavi, now tell us a little bit about how the the examination will be conducted. Any other measures, any other steps that have been taken by the NTA, by the government? A lot of pressure, remember, the NTA had to face given how the paper leak did not happen for the first time this time around, and a lot of time was lost. Students' community has been suffering, and they've been raising their grievances. So, other precautionary measures, if at all, that have been taken so far, if you could throw some light on that too.
>> There's been a full-fledged crackdown as far as the government has concerned and in fact the education minister, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, he himself held a press conference where he said that multiple of checking, cross-checking, and also to ensure that even the strong rooms in which the papers are kept, that is going to be supervised, monitored.
There's also been talk which again many of my colleagues have been reporting how the army will also need it to be brought in whenever required so as to ensure that there's no pilferage of those marks sheet and the papers the question papers. It is in sync with that. You know, there's going to be a lot of monitoring, CCTV footage whenever the exams are being conducted. The likely people who are involved in this kind of a network, it's a mafia which is believed to work not just in one part of the national capital but actually across the country. And there are vulnerable sections, there are vulnerable vulnerable areas. All of that is where they could be 24/7 monitoring has been taking place. Crackdowns have been taking place. People who have been arrested, they have been questioned.
They have been asked that you know, where are the people who are the people who are a part of this entire network.
So, as a part of that one big news which is coming in this morning of course is that the Telegram site has also been blocked so as to ensure that none of these platforms are used so as to circulate the papers.
>> Thanks so much Pallavi for joining us with that important update. Remember the NEET re-examination is scheduled for the 21st of June. Telegram blocked in India till the 22nd.
